Under thunderous applause, Roland revealed the company's new software. Hailed as a groundbreaking system, the new software was set to revolutionize management systems across all sectors.
Roland's management system was a highly-customizable, general system which would have numerous applications in many fields of business. With the famed security of Roland's company, customers could rest easy with the knowledge that any data within the system was as safe as could be.
"…with every purchase of our software comes a guarantee: if your system is breached, you will be fully refunded, and we will fully compensate you for any loses!
"That is how confident we are in our product, and we hope you'll share our confidence.
"Now, if you'll turn to the back of the hand-outs, you'll see some more details on the technical side of the product. There are some key points that I want to draw your attention to…"
As Roland was in the midst of his speech, Barov quietly shuffled up behind him and whispered something in his ear.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be leaving you in the very capable hands of my close aid, Barov, for the rest of the talk."
With that, Roland sprinted off the stage.
'What?! I only told you immediately because you ordered me to earlier. I thought you'd rush through the talk and then leave!
'What the hell am I supposed to do now?'
As usual, Barov was the one left behind.
…
Roland jumped grabbed one of his security guards on the way out to drive him straight to the hospital. Although he didn't know all the details, it sounded like something serious had happened.
A cold gleam flashed across his eyes.
'If the police don't have a good explanation for this, there'll be hell to pay.'
…
Back at the Gilen residence, some of the house staff were still waiting outside Veronica's room, waiting for some sign of life.
"Oh!" the maid closest to the door exclaimed. "I hear movement; she's moving quickly."
"Eh? Budge over, let me listen! You're right, there's a lot of ruffling; it sounds like she's getting dressed."
"Getting dressed? She doesn't leave that room; why does she need to get dressed?"
The driver and other house staff continued to discuss Veronica's latest movements. This sporadic behavior was extremely strange for her, hence why they were all surrounding the door in intrigue. It was definitely not because they were bored of working.
Suddenly, the door swung open. At first glance, Veronica looked like her usual, elegant self. But upon closer inspection, one could see a red tinge in the corner of her eyes, and her overall get-up was slightly untidier than normal.
"Let's go, I need you to drive me," commanded Veronica.
"You're going out? But I thought you weren't going out until Saturday?" her driver replied.
"Am I only allowed to go out if I tell you in advance? Ridiculous, drive me to the hospital, there's someone I need to see!"
With that, Veronica stormed off down the hall, leaving the driver to run after her.
