Determination

Veronica paused.

'Wait, what am I doing? If I do this, there's no going back. I'm not an idiot; I know he's sweet on Anna. If I do this now, what if he rejects me?'

Doubts flooded Veronica's mind, like an unrelenting downpour of rain they quickly dampened her fiery mood. She retreated back to her spot and fell into thought.

'I have to tell him at some point; today is as good a day as any.

'No, but I've not prepared enough. What will I say to him?

'Tonight is the perfect time though. I've surprised him, fed him, and now he's just lying there.

'But what if it doesn't go how I want? What if he shoves me off immediately?'

Veronica sat there mulling it over. It was a battle between her brain and her heart, or more specifically, her love and her anxiety. One wouldn't hole themselves in their house without leaving much unless they have some issues.

She lightly slapped her cheeks, and determination flashed across her eyes.

'I've got to do it. If I can't even do it now, I never will.

'This is the perfect opportunity, my one chance.'

Veronica silently crawled back over and leaned in to Roland.

She moved slowly, studying his every feature, his every movement.

His muscular chest was lightly moving up and down.

His marvelous silver hair was disheveled and mess from a long day, and lying down probably didn't help either.

His shirt's collar was open more than usual, exposing his collar bone.

Veronica took all this in, but her attention was constantly drawn back to his slightly parted lips.

His full, enticing lips seemed to be drawing her in. As she watched, he licked his lips, wetting them slightly. They reflected the ambient glow of the dimmed lights.

Veronica reached him and stared down, taking in his scent and the sound of him. She leaned in closer. Her heart was beating so fast she thought her ribs might break.

She drew in closer. Closer. Closer, until she could feel his breathing. She was holding her breath so as to keep him from noticing. He'd probably noticed she'd moved closer and chose to ignore it, but he definitely didn't know she was this close.

Finally, she moved in for the kiss. Their lips met.

Roland's eyes widened in shock. He instinctively tried to move away, but Veronica held on.

His heart practically leaped out of his chest. He'd noticed her moving over, but this was not what he'd expected. Surprised by her forwardness, Roland's initial instinct had been to escape, but he'd quickly stopped and just let it happen.

However, as Veronica continued kissing him, he turned less passive and started to kiss her back. This time it was Veronica's turn to be surprised. Her cheeks flushed red and they started kissing with crazy abandon, each giving the other no room to break away.

After they separated, they were both gasping for air, their faces bright red.

Veronica turned to Roland and said, "Roland, I like you, I always have!"

==========

Remember, if we reach 75 power stones, I'll do double releases next week. If we reach 150 (a stretch, I know), I'll do triple releases. So throw your power stones at the novel if you want more!

Also, I would like to gather more feedback. So, if we get another 5 reviews (taking the total to 11 reviews), I'll release 2 bonus chapters at the end of the week. I would like honest feedback, so even if you feel like giving one star, go ahead, but please give me a reason for the rating so I can improve!
