While Wang Liu was helpless against Xingjian...
So was Ben Li...
"Master, I'm not ready!!!"
Ben Li spoke out of panic as he drew a sword finger in retaliation.
The SwordQi that Xingjian launched wasn't really dangerous that warranted Ben Li's defense. But the fact that it came from the demon lord who attacked him with a pretext of 'testing' was the fact that concerned him greatly.
It was a sudden, preemptive and careless strike with no danger level to note but because Xingjian shot it was without reason but only because he really wanted to test his disciple's improvements.
The SwordQi was shaped like a feather with sharp pointy ends colored in black. It flew like a bullet with a speed faster than a bullet and its trajectory aimed at the many flaws seen in his disciple's Swordsmanship.
In less than a second that the SwordQi was launched, Ben Li drew his sword finger and raised it defense. A single SwordQi belonging to him shot from his finger to collide with Xingjian SwordQi.
The collision made no sound nor blast nor any kind that sparked fireworks that provoked the surrounding crowd's attention. It was like two lights trying to outshine each other, only to be outshines by the sun outside. Catching no deep observation except for a few experts who took interest between Xingjian's and Ben Li's banter. However, that did not end the clashing as it had only begun.
As Ben Li's SwordQi successfully clashed with Xingjian's, Xingjian's SwordQi was immediately split in half and became two SwordQis that aimed directly at two different flaws in his disciple's Swordsmanship.
Ben Li was fazed in reaction and shot two SwordQis from his finger. Two SwordQis shot forth and collided with Xingjian's SwordQis. Splitting them in half in the same manner, yet still, they failed to stop Xingjian's strike as his SwordQis split into four and shot themselves towards 4 different flaws in his disciple's Swordsmanship without the slightest dissipation in the energy contained within those strikes.
Ben Li realized in a millisecond that Xingjian's SwordQis contained such pure energy controlled in his Swordsmanship that his energy attacks never dissipate no matter if foreign elements were to strike it off.
Not to mention that his Swordsmanship was superb and profound that a single clumsy strike from him contain the relentless power to corner his opponents in defense.
If Ben Li were to draw the Sword of Redemption, then fending off from these SwordQis would've been a breeze. But if he did so then that action would translate that his disciple had not improved and had even deteriorated the spirit of her Swordsmanship for relying on the power of her Redemption.
So, he had to rely on his own power (Ming Jian Ming's power) to strategize ways to defend himself. While at the same time, divine the meanings why Xingjian attacked those specific flaws in his Swordsmanship.
The four flaws he attacked appeared quite random in choices but as his disciple, Ming Jian Ming knew all too well that Xingjian was the type to have ulterior motives in his attacks.
The flaws attacked weren't even minor either. In fact, they were pretty fatal for him to be left expose for his opponents to exploit. If successfully hit, the chances were higher for him to be crippled. But owing to the fact that he was Xingjian's disciple, there was no way he would recklessly cripple him.
Flaws in one's battle prowess can be divided into two classifications. Minor and major flaws.
Minor flaws were flaws like blind spots or areas in one's position that warranted weak defenses. Experts trained hard to conceal these flaws in order not be exploited. And most of the time, experts would deliberately expose these flaws to provoke their enemies into their advantages.
As for major flaws, they were the flaws that needed to be concealed at all cost. These flaws were the true weaknesses for experts like how a man should protect his crotch at all times.
Major flaws like that were easy to conceal and defend anyways since these flaws were very fatal to be attacked and it was always best to defeat one's opponent before he could exploit such flaws. Lest the chances being crippled, killed or even worst, go berserk were nigh as the moonrise.
Xingjian should have known this fact as it was the basics of the basics. And he knew all too well that Ben Li will retaliate like a motherfucker if push comes to shove.
And as to why Xingjian attacked those flaws which could possibly kill his disciple? Ben Li hadn't given the slightest fuck why and deduced that he was probably randomly aiming for his weak spots. But that didn't change his mind to retaliate again.
4 SwordQis traveling faster than bullets aimed towards Ben Li's flaws. He raised his sword finger down and that actions triggered a change in his Sword aura.
The sword aura began to swiftly rise up below his feet and cover every inch of his body all the way to the head.
Then his aura began to transform into dust particles and they swirl countlessly around him in silvery metallic glow.
As the SwordQis began to penetrate, they were immediately shredded by the dust particles coming. Shredding the SwordQis deep to dissipate their energies bit by bit until their energies could no longer maintain their form and dissipate on their own.
The whole process didn't even last longer than a split-second and that was the end of Xingjian's first attack.
Yes, unfortunately for Ben Li, that was only his first attack.
"?!"
As Ben Li became alarmed by the glint in Xingjian's eyes, his instincts were triggered to urge him to dodge.
But it was too late.
Followed by a faint flash of light, Ben Li was immediately sent flying. His body flew above the surface by a foot and crashed onto the wall chair with the force that could shatter bones to pieces.
As if it was conveniently placed there, Ben Li's bottom landed on the chair after slipping from the wall and rest his helpless body on the embrace of the chair as his puppet strings had been cut.
Ben Li didn't know what exactly happened as to how Xingjian's attack landed on him.
All he saw was that faint flash of light that pierced through his dust particle defense without resistance and blasted him away from the ground.
The attack felt too fast to be seen, no, it was seen, and it was only seen as a faint flash of light.
A light attack! A Lazer attack!
An attack that traveled in the speed of light. An attack that was too fast to be reacted by conventional means. Only those with passive barriers that could fend off light could ward off such fast-moving attacks.
In other words, that attack was his real attack from the start!
Those SwordQis were feints in the beginning only to grab his attention so he could be caught off guard...
... That sneaky bastard.
Ben Li shook his head helplessly as he was reminded again that there were mountains above mountains and Xingjian was a demon lord of mountains.
Well, at least he wasn't killed...
Ben Li tried to gather strength form his core and felt a minor discomfort on his lap. Tilting his head down to look, he saw a small black case just lying on the caresses of his thighs.
He went to pick it up and analyzed its shape. It wasn't until a second had passed that he knew what this thing was.
Apparently, this small black case was used to strike him during that last attack and this case was probably the faint flash of light.
Due to it being shrouded in Xingjian's Sword intent, the case remains undamaged despite being thrown at him in lightspeed. Being an attack that didn't contain energy to maintain its form, it was no wonder that it managed to pierce through his countless dust particle defense with no resistance.
However, that didn't matter to Ben Li for he knew that what was more important was not how he was attacked but what was used to attack.
That damn bastard had me right from the start!!!!!
Ben Li cursed in frustration yet he couldn't express it anyway. He focused all his attention on the small black case in his hands. A worried look filled his visage as he sweated if it was damaged.
Luckily, it wasn't. And Ben Li sighed in relief.
What Ben Li was holding right now was the most important thing in this world of powerful memories.
More important than anything here, more important than his experiences here, more important than his actions here, more important than Xingjian kicking his ass.
This small black case that could've been anything but important was so important to Ben Li he could've rejoiced apply to have found it in his hands.
And right now, he was thanking his lucky stars that he didn't have to go around looking for it like a clown and curse Xingjian for carelessly throwing it at him like it was a piece of worthless trash...
How dare he...
But that was fine. Xingjian probably knew its importance as well and thus gave it to him in his subtlest ways. Indicating that he was supportive in what Ben Li plans to do with this small black box.
That was because this thing in his hands here, was the real Memento he aimed to retrieve in the Memory Lane of Glorious Vicissitudes.
But why does Xingjian have it?
Does it matter?
Ben Li shook his head and refused to waste another brain cell to deduce another mystery.
His gaze turned and saw Xingjian was nowhere to be found from the crowd and the crowd didn't seem to care that he was gone or not.
Amazing, no one even noticed that he even attacked me. Ben Li thought.
Despite the sudden chaos that was initiated, once the demon lord left, there were no traces left.
That was the fearsomeness of the Demonlord whom only a few knew how powerful he was.
No one knew when, who, why and how he attacked and no one will ever know as long as he permits it.
Judgement; good and evil.
No one knows the evil within the good and no one knows the good within the evil.
Such was the Dao Xingjian walked ever since who took possession of those two swords.
Shaking his head once more, Ben Li stood from his seat, ignoring the few painful stares that were embarrassing him, and kept the small case inside his breast pocket. Making sure it was sealed tight within.
Now that I secured the memento, let's go experience what her memories had to offer...
Just when Ben Li was so it to review his next script, a sound like a bell singing resounded all over and alerted everyone inside the room.
Those who were chatting immediately shut up, those who were hiding came out from the void and those who were powerful instantly teleported out from the room.
"Comrades, it is time to assemble in the throne room."
Tyrant stood up and spoke to everyone as he caught their attention. After bidding farewell, he teleported to a certain place before everyone's eyes.
