End of the adventurer’s competition

'Eh? Chase was number four? That's surprising.' I got up and tried to find a better seat. I still didn't have a clear view, but now I could at least tell what was going on. The fight started, and within five minutes, Chase had won. The people around me started laughing and ridiculing the boy who just fought Chase. Three other contestants challenged Chase, all of them ended up defeated so the other contestants stopped challenging him out of fear of losing their positions. Chase's friend on the other hand wasn't even challenged once the whole day.

The next few days were fairly repetitive. The people in the top fifty didn't fight out of fear of losing their position and the latter half continuously challenged others. At the end of the fifth day I still didn't get to see Chase's friend compete. 'Maybe he has a fairly high position so no one bothered trying.' On the sixth day, a contestant challenged the person in second and won. That brought hope to many others and there were over twenty challenges that day.

On the last day, everyone was done challenging others so it was decided the awarding ceremony would take place that evening. There were many parades celebrating the end of the competition, I got to relax and enjoy walking around the capital. All that sitting from watching the competition had made me want to exercise.

The award ceremony will be taking place on a stage next to the castle. 'Honestly, I'm surprised the queen still had the guts to attend another public event after the attempted assassination.' When I got to the stage it was already crowded by hundreds of people. The elevated stage was guarded by an abnormal quantity of soilders. As the queen walked onto the stage, a few soilders were signalled to strike a bell. The ringing of the bell resounded throughout the capital. As the bell rung the only thing I could think was, 'Is the queen that desperate to be assassinated?'
