Bountiful Harvest

A few weeks flew by in a hurry. He and his men trained with his father, learning various battle techniques. The system was able to make recommendations, allowing the men to train in techniques that suited them.

Over the next few weeks, as they all trained together, Zanir noticed something very strange. It took much longer for him to gather energy. At first, he thought, that he may have simply had a poor talent for martial arts. However, the others soon noticed, that his energy had a golden tint to it, unlike anyone else.

It seemed that each level would require much more energy than normal. Consulting the system, he discovered that it was converting his energy to dimensional Qi. It took so much energy because it was converting it to the most pure type of Qi.

This energy would be formed back into it's original state. A primal and untouched Qi, stretching back to the dawn of time, and the creation of the universe. Eventually he would restore the energy to it's origin point, briefly condensing it, creating a big bang and his own universe.

Of course, that was a long way down the road. For now, without a massive source of energy, he would be stuck as a first level warrior. Forget peak or half-step, he would have a hard time even gathering a few drops of Qi.

At least Zanir was able to get a few benefits. Stepping onto the path of warrior had been recognized by the system. Unlike others, his dantian contained his world space. It had been there all along, he was simply able to notice it, now that he had proper training.

He could now absorb things remotely. Testing it out, he found that he could absorb or retrieve things in a five foot radius (around a meter and a half). This would be a huge help, really speeding up collection times.

The training wasn't easy, but it felt worth it when he checked his stats.

It was almost time for the crops to be ready. Everyone was curious to see how they would turn out. It had only been a few weeks from seed to maturity. Inspecting the crops earlier, he saw that they were all delicious looking, they had grown strong and vibrant.

Eventually the notification he'd been waiting for came up.

[Crops are ready. Upgrade point available. Please proceed to your world.]

Upgrade point? Consulting the system, he discovered that he would get one each crop cycle. They could be used to upgrade an existing crop, cross-breed two crop varieties, or for a random draw. The random draw was tempting, since the result could come from any dimension or universe.

Since it could be saved, he decided to hold onto the upgrade point for now. Gathering everyone together, they went into the world space. All of the produce looked healthy and large. The lack of predators and bugs meant each one was intact.

Everyone got to work harvesting, it was only a few fields at this time, so it went quickly with how many people they had. When they inspected the produce, everyone was blown away. The quality was top tier, the vegetables were positively brimming with flavor and nutrients.

The cabbages they planted were large and leafy with deep colors. Some of the carrots were so large, that they required two men to uproot them. Beautiful, soft, golden wheat was cut down, as it fell like fine silk. Squash of all shapes, sizes, and colors were harvested. Garlic had come in large beautiful bulbs, emitting a breathtaking fragrance, as if not to be outdone by the other crops.

Everybody was eager to try the new items. Each one of them was enticing. Soon, a large salad was produced. The hearth was blazing, spreading the aroma of fresh baking bread throughout the house. As the one who made everything possible, Zanir was urged to have the first helping.

When he tried the food, he was surprised, since it seemed to disappear. Once you had the first bite, you wouldn't stop eating, until the plate or bowl was cleared. The flavors were rich and deep, each bite was crisp and refreshing.

Seeing the satisfied look on his face, everyone gave a loud cheers, and dug in! Good food naturally brought people together, it didn't take long for everyone to fall in love with these crops. He would have to think of a brand name for his line of products.

These were going to be famous, they could charge whatever they wanted, nobody else would be able to produce anything like it. With a short production cycle, they would have enough for personal consumption and market sales.

They could make enough money to easily pay their taxes. However, they would be inviting a host of trouble, if they revealed having so many good things, without the power to protect them. For now they would keep the items stored. The system would keep them at peak freshness, once they were stored away.

Seeing how good the produce was, he wanted to acquire more farmland and crop variety. All of the nearby farms were occupied, he wouldn't be able to take their land, not without attracting attention. Luckily he had built up some dimensional power.

Even though he had enough points, the option to upgrade to a level 2 world was grayed out. There were additional requirements, one of which was that he needed more farmland and crops. Since it was exactly what he had been wanting, he checked the pricing.

Spending three hundred dimensional points, he was happy with his two purchases. For a hundred and fifty points he had expanded his farmland for another acre. The other hundred and fifty was spent on an automatic planting and harvesting subroutine.

For now, he set the system to plant more of what they had. After training for a weeks, they wanted to take a break. He and his men agreed, they would visit the nearest city, Trostin. They would be able to sell some of the produce anonymously at the auction house.

There was also an adventurers guild branch there. If they had a quest to clear out a dungeon or monster's den, he could take the entire area and all the loot. Hopefully he didn't have to start off doing something lame, like gathering herbs.

With the recent weeks, he had more metal, and was able to make some improvements. Not only had he upgraded their gear, but he had also upgraded the carriage they would be using. He had re-designed it, turning it into more of an armored personnel carrier.

The suspension was re-done, so that it could bear the weight of the armor plating. It would also provide a much smoother ride. As he said goodbye to his parents, they reminded him to be careful on his trip. It would take a few days to get there, but they felt he would be safe, having several guards with him.

As they piled into the armored carriage, the men drew straws to see who would be the designated driver. Of course they would take their time, absorbing anything interesting along the way.
