Kewang Tian was sitting with his legs crossed, in a ring with four other people. They were currently drinking tea, and their discussion was one that told tales from the past! If one were to look closely though, these were not just people – but Spirits.
The big blue pudgy Spirit was the one currently speaking. He was telling them the story of how he had once been bound to a powerful Spirit Walker and forced to fight against another Spirit. It was a woeful story, which made all those sitting quite upset, apart from the lean yellow spirit of course.
"And there I was, that horrible man Sen Ji had summoned me to fight against one of my kin. Oh, the horror!" he acted out his expression melodramatically.
"Damn you Old Blue, don't make it sound like you were a victim there!" The yellow spirit shouted.
The Green and Red Spirits were both trying to hide their sniggering. They knew this exact story so many times over. After all, in a world of limitless time stories often get reused.
"What do you know skinny yellow, you weren't there. It was terrible, I had to beat this innocent Wind Spirit to a pulp! It must have been so humiliating to him! A Wind Spirit, the most offensive of our kind, losing to the second-place lightening. Ahh." He sighed.
"Damn you Old Blue, that's it! I told you last time, the next time you talk trash about me in front of a guest - you're going down!" The Yellow Spirit blurted out.
He then merged with the wind, and charged out at Old Blue, who then suddenly turned into a bolt of lightning fleeing, whilst laughing in delight!
All the while Red and Green couldn't stop laughing! Even spilling their tea, which they loved so much.
A cold feeling approached. It was Ming Yue.
"Kewang Tian! What have I told you about hanging around with these old fellows, its bad for your head. All they'll do is repeat the same story a hundred times over and once more. Now get back to work. We've only just started to unblock your psyche."
Seeing her furious state, he felt a bit of regret. After all, she had been quite good to him since he's come to Spirit World, and she only wanted to leave!
Her demands were unreasonable though! She would want him to train, practicing what they came to call his 'heavenly transformation' from dusk until dawn, and he was pretty sure that was longer than a normal day!
Ming Yue's voice rung in his head like always, "Master the transformation – master your inner self. Then master your bloodline! I shan't awaken your legacy memories a second before you have fully mastered your heavenly transformation!"
"Fine." Kewang Tian muttered. He had already been here half a month now, and the only solace he would find was with these four Spirits that he would come and drink tea with. Apart from that, it was only "Do this. Do that. Don't do that." The nonstop nagging was probably worse than the pain of transformation!
Sigh. "Thank you for the tea seniors, say my goodbyes for me to Old Blue and Skinny Yellow."
The two Spirit were into much of a giggle to notice him and simply waved him away, expecting him to come back the usual time tomorrow.
Ming Yue and Kewang Tian walked north for two hours until they finally came to an Old Tree.
The tree was giant and hollow but firm like a rock. It looked as if it stood here since the dawn of this realm and help untold power.
Kewang Tian's heart started to beat a little faster just looking at it!
Ming Yue turned around with a frown on her face. "What are you waiting for come-on!"
Kewang Tian knocked out of his daydream, quickly followed. "Where are we?"
"This is a sapling of the Spirit Tree."
"A sapling?!" Kewang Tian was astonished. If a sapling had this kind of majesty what would the mother tree be like? Kewang Tian couldn't help but gulp.
"Do you know why I've brought you here?"
"No" he replied.
"The Spirit Tree can be useful for baby Spirits. It helps them tame their inner self. So, my theory is that we can hijack that ability with this sapling, which will increase the rate and control you have when you activate your heavenly transformation!"
Kewang Tian looked at her stunned like she was an evil genius. When she saw the gaping face she couldn't help but give out a giggle.
"Err… Ming Yue?" Kewang Tian grumbled slightly.
"What?"
"Will it continue to hurt?"
"Hurt?"
"Yes, when I transform it feels like all my bones are breaking, over and over again, to the point I feel like my life's going to slip away from me!"
Ming Yue looked at him, feeling sorry for the boy. She sometimes forgot that he was only a child.
"It hurts because you don't have it fully controlled. Once you master the transformation, it will feel painless, like clenching your fist." She tried to calm him, whilst leaning over and holding his face.
Unfortunately, this contact wasn't the feminine charm she had hoped for, instead, it was her tightly clenching his face, much to Kewang Tian's dismay.
Struggling to get away from the gigantic woman, he couldn't manage to break free.
She then swept him off his feet and carried him to the inside of the tree like a child.
Inside, the tree, he couldn't believe its size. It must have been bigger than the main hall of the Kewang Clan seven time over, in every direction, which confused him greatly. [Wasn't this tree taller than wider?] he wondered to himself.
"Now the fun begins!" Ming Yue smiled.
Hearing her words were like blades to his ears. He sighed deeply then – "Ahh!" he started to scream like a madman. His bones started to pop again. Looking down his hands started to shed blood, where the scales emerged. And then darkness!
The second time darkness!
The third time darkness!
Fourth, Fifth, Sixth…. Darkness
Ninetieth… Darkness
Ninety-ninth – Light!
He had transformed ninety-nine times. Over how long, he does not know. Inside the tree it could have been an eternity outside, time didn't seem to matter when he was going through his change.
