Treasury and Notoriety

"There is nothing to forgive, however the treasury will not be paying for this expedition. It was a agreement of the Soldiers and myself that I offer treatment in exchange for their services. I would never knowingly cause extra stress for our Fourth Prince. He has enough trouble balancing your books as it is." Kyera replied with a bit of a cheeky grin. Her words cut to the quick as she had intended without being bluntly rude. There was an art to attacking a man's pride without ever saying a evil word, and she had perfected it.

"Oh I see. That is inteligent my lady, but impractical I am afraid. You see we treat our soldiers health as part of their pay here. They have agreed to a unfair bargin that you placed before them. Though unaware of how things work in Shadow Vale, perhaps it was the proper deal in your impire, but not here." The Advisor replied with a bit of a gentle smirk. It sounded as though he had every intention of being helpful but she knew better. There was greed and disdain in his heart and Kyera could smell the sent of smugness on him. She made a soft surprised expression but then it turned to a gentle smile.

"It is sweet of you to worry after their deal so much, but I assure you it is fair. My services are extended to their families, which would not be covered by your own program as part of their pay for services rendered." Kyera explained and Clovis couldn't help but grin at the way she held her own against this man. The Advisor spent several hours a day fencing word with The Fourth Prince and often badgered him till he won. It was nice for Clovis to see someone fence words with him and shut him down so resolutely that there was no response but humbleness that could be returned.

"I see. The lady is certainly as Fair as she is beautiful." He replied turning and walking away with his companion.

"Dais, Rogen aren't you forgetting something?" Clovis asked, raising an eyebrow. If they had been more respectful perhaps he would have let it slide. HOwever, they had chosen to mess with his girl. There would be some sort of retribution, even if it was simply a nick to their pride for the time being.

"Oh… Yes. Good Evening, Fourth Prince. If you have further need of us, we will be looking over the books." The First Advisor replied his face red and flustered at his own mistake. In all the years he had served the crown, he had never forgot to bid the royals goodbye. It was quite the shaming incident for himself, and quite humbling. Clovis nodded and waved him away, figuring there was no harm in letting him off now. This would serve as a warning.

The pair walked away quickly out of earshot. Kyera couldn't help but chuckle as she watched them disappear. Her eyes slowly shifting to Clovis who returned her chuckle with a grin. "So help him I thought he was going to explode from frustration alone." Clovis commented with a wicked smile, before taking her hand to lead her toward their home.

"So did I, yet I was surprised when you called him out for not bidding you good eve." Kyera replied raising an eyebrow with a bit of a curiosity. "I didn't think you liked such formalities enough to ask for them." She added and Clovis frowned.

"I don't. However, he had to be stepped down a bit after he had acted in such a way to my bride to be." Clovis replied, his tone protective as he gently ran his thumb over the back of her hand. "I was nice this time. Next he will not find me so kind."

"Hopefully there will not be a next time." Kyera added with a gentle smile. In all honesty she prayed for peace and some time without the stress and confusion that seemed to be the way of the world. He offered her a smile.

"Even if there is, You will have the position to deal with him as you see fit. Fourth Princess and Daughter in law to the Lady Empress is nothing to turn up your nose at, Lady Kyera." He reminded her and Kyera smiled. That was true. That title would give her the notoriety to protect herself, and her people.
