The maid returned and bowed before letting three women into the room. They were all similar height, and their hair was cut to the same perfect shoulder length. Their color was similar to a brown bear, variations of brown darkening to almost black in places near the root, but light as gold at the tips. Their outfits were priestess robes in pale tan leather, white fur capes keeping the winter chill off their bodies. The first girl carried a lantern looking object; made of glass and silver metals woven to be pretty as much as functional. The other two girls carried a book and a small chest respectively. They were clearly saints, and their gentle, sweet smiles were enchanting.
Kyera however, felt a sickening feeling in her stomach. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up as she looked at the oil, knowing what they were planning. A prayer freed itself from her heart as she turned to her clueless husband. "Clovis, get Kendrick. NOW." Kyera ordered him without hesitation. Clovis looked confused, he had no idea why Kyera looked at these three women like they were grave enemies. The way she seemed to guard the children was like these women were predators.
"Kyera, they are probably here to bless the baby." Clovis tried to calm the protective Tigress and yet there was a growl. It cut him off, and sent a shiver down his spine.
"Please, Clovis. GO." Kyera's voice was beyond reproach now. It was clear she was struggling not to lose her patience with her Mate. He nodded and left. The priestess did not move aside, he had to go around their angelic bunch. They even seemed amused at Kyera's request. It was a condescending look Kyera wanted to claw from their faces.
"Greetings, Princess Kyera of the Frost Born. I am Dae, the Priestess of the Goddess. I was sent to bless your Newborn child with her wishes. It is a great honor for you and your kin." The first woman explained as though Kyera should grovel in thanks. The two women behind her, nameless disciples nodded their agreements with arrogant smirks. Kyera had no doubt some people rejoiced when their children received this blessing. Kyera however knew the age of those 'blessed' children when they died and walked the earth after death.
"I must refuse such an honor." Kyera replied as if the word honor was a dirty word. It was soiled by this woman's lips. They would not put that oil on Gale… and the baby and Raina could both sense something was wrong. The young princess moved onto her knees one foot, casually draped off the bed toward the floor. The servants entrance was behind the tapestry beside her. All she needed was a word from her mother and she would dash and take baby Gale to safety.
"You can not refuse this blessing. We will anoint the child in holy oil, and chant the prayer to offer his soul to the Goddess. Who are you to refuse this child his Fate?" Demanded the disciple holding the book close to her chest. Poor fools had no idea what mission their Goddess had sent them on.
"I am his mother, and I am Kyera Shade of the Moon. I bow to no Goddess but my own God and often not even then." Kyera replied, her words were powerful and the aura fluttering around her encircled her children and protected both daughter and son from outside forces. There was a fire, deep in Kyera's soul that danced and threatened to free itself by consuming its bonds.
"Your ignorance is no matter. You will stand aside. The Goddess demands it." Dae replies as she began speaking in the language of the Goddess. Kyera knew it was a binding spell, and would knock her unconscious if the priestess was strong enough. If.
As it was, Kyera watched the strand of light magic dance across the air in slow, languid movements and raised a hand to her mouth, theatrically yawning. This priestess was pathetic, to send a human, no matter how blessed against a Demigoddess, even one who had yet to awaken, was foolishness.
"Raina… the safest place for an egg is in a dragon's nest." Kyera spoke rather offhandedly but her daughter got the hint. While Raina made a dash for the door carrying her baby brother, Kyera used her own black aura to tooth the priestesses to the spot. None of the three could move, no one of the Light Faith could move within 6 miles of their spot. It took all of Kyera's energy but she could buy just enough time for Tempest to come.
