Bao Wei

Bao Wei decided not to shift when they were walking to the border since Xueyu had said she felt fine enough to walk.

While they walked through the forest he explained the basics of cultivation, the levels, the realms and rare treasures.

Xueyu scratched her head in confusion.

'So... spirit stones are found in magical beasts only and you can only get one if they offer it up willingly or you kill them?'

Bao Wei nodded.

'There is also a special beast,Seven Tailed Black Bunny. That one actually generates only high rank spirit stones. It is coveted by all but very rare to find or form a contract with. It absolutely resents humans.'

Xueyu pursed her lips and gave her mind time to process and store all the information.

There were so many new things she was learning. She guessed that her father must have known about cultivation and everything so the question was why she didn't know.

Was she seen as too young?

From what Bao Wei had said, the best time to start cultivation was around four years old. A test of cultivation potential was taken by all children at six so two years gave them time to start with the basics.

She thought , regretfully, about how far she could've been if she had started early too.

The walk to the border took about half a day and in that time Xueyu absorbed all the knowledge she could. Soaking up everything and filing it away in her brain.

Bao Wei got to talking about his family and his clan that they got kicked out of.

He was too rebellious for his own good. He went against one of the clan rules.

Never mate with an already mated female.

He was young then, he said. He didn't really care much for the clan leader so when he met his daughter he went straight ahead.

Of course the girl was charmed by his roguish personality and rebellious streak and she quickly fell in love with him. The problem was that she was already matched with the second head of the clan.

They had planned to run away but they were found out and the clan leader got furious.

Bao Wei laughed as he could picture the veins bulging from the clan leaders neck and his crazed obsidian eyes.

'My father resented me after that. He hated the fact that I was different and , simply put, a brat.'

Xueyu chuckled at his story.

'So everyone in your clan's eyes are black? I couldn't help but notice your brother and you said the leader...'

Bao Wei smirked.

'You see this beauty, little girl? I was the envy of many. Having black eyes is a trait that only our Clan has. Instead of being the black sheep because of my unusual scarlet eyes and ability to shift, I was quite the charmer among the females. They found my eyes... enchanting.'

Xueyu rolled her eyes.

She thought he couldn't get anymore conceited that that. Apparently she was wrong.

She endured about another hour of Bao Wei and his theatrics before they got to Rui Yan village.

It was there that Bao Wei decided to part ways.

'I hope you've learned well from what I've taught you, little girl.'

Xueyu was saddened.

'Can't you stay? You're father already resents you and I'm sure you're brother wouldn't mind.'

Her eyes widened and she snapped her mouth shut when she realised what she had said.

He smiled wryly.

'You are right of course but I have to go back and suffer in this too since I caused it. It would be unfair to leave them there while I go running off.'

'So now you choose to get a conscience?'

Xueyu frowned as he merely smiled and turned away.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

She knew nothing about the city. She had just lost her parents and the whole world seemed to be so foreign to her. How would she survive?

Bao Wei looked back to see the pitiful figure of the girl.

Her expression troubled him.

No. Don't you dare.

His conscience willed him to keep walking and his body did just that, only... it was towards Xueyu .

If only this girl didn't have such a convincing look.

'Alright,' he sighed.

'I'll stay,' he called out.

Her face instantly lit up and a beast smile spread across her face.

'Thank you, Bao Wei. Should i call you Senior Brother now? Or maybe teacher?'

She babbled away pulling on his arm as they walked further into the village.

'... you can even teach me everything about cultivating and we can rise to the heights of the heavens. Your clan will regret kicking you out. For now, we can just find some food.'

Bao Wei couldn't help himself. He started laughing really loudly.

This girl went from cultivation, to the peak of the world then food?

He had to admit, she was growing on him.
