It started as an inkling, a feeling.
The voice had always told her about the nature of humans, and how absolute power corrupts absolutely. She took heed when she created her plan.
There were two parts, yes, but they only involved the Revolution. The third (and secrete) part involved the nobles. Mai was going to cause the downfall of the nobles.
Surprisingly, Heith was okay with her plan. In fact, he was the one who executed it.
Now, as Mai looks towards the brutality of the soldiers and metaphorical nobles behind them, Mai was happy that she could still fix this. She could counterattack.
Heith's hand was still on her shoulder when she turned around to look at him. Mouthing her words and remembering the time she mouthed her words for Dir, she smiled.
Heith understood the second her first syllable was mouthed- "End". His hand clenched onto Mai's shoulder harder before he released it in resignation. He slowly nodded before he left.
"Where's Heith going?" Victoria yelled. They had come up behind Mai when she was too focused on the army to notice.
Mai turned around, and her eyes glinted. They had turned a shade darker than their regular color. "He's going to fix things." Mai returned her gaze to the soldiers before decisively turning around. She grabbed Victoria's hand. "We're leaving."
The children followed her fast pace as they left the scene. Mai could feel that she had left something else there, too. However, she didn't know what.
..........
The third part of Mai's plan was to release the secrete histories of all of the nobles; the bad, the good, and the ugly.
It was a gamble.
And she won.
........
The King was forced to discipline the nobles in order to prevent a mass uprising. He did so under the orders of a mysterious "M" who had threatened him with his own dirt and the dirt of the Kings before him.
The patriarchy became a meritocracy and several measures were taken in place so that it would be a smooth transition.
During this time, Nicholas, Victoria, Gabriel, and the others grew worried at Mai's condition. She seemed as if she had the world placed upon her shoulders. Fine white hair began to appear on her head, and she grew haggard in her appearance. Finally, when she turned eighteen years old, Mai caught an illness and died.
In comparison to the deteriorating condition of Mai, the "Kingdom" grew ever more stronger and stabler. The common people thrived.
