Why Don't I Believe You?

In a courtyard of Ming Yue Sect.

It had been more than half a day since the sun had risen from the east. Now, it was already in the early afternoon. Ye Mo had been waiting for several double-hours, yet there was still no news regarding Yin's treatment.

To say he was worried sick would be an understatement. He had been pacing back and fro, unable to rest, the moment the elder assigned to assist him brought him to a guest courtyard to rest.

"Why aren't they telling me any news?"

Ye Mo, who refused to leave yet was refused to see Yin, was relegated to one of the spacious courtyards prepared to receive important guests.

As the Ming Yue Sect occupied a mountain range in the outskirts of Leaf City, they had hundreds of available pavilions and courtyards to be used as housing and accommodation. The size of their territory was only slightly inferior to the Ye Sect Manor, the inherited ancestral domain of the founder of Leaf City and thus occupied roughly a third of the entire Leaf City.

Ye Mo was temporarily placed in the Night Wind Peak, one of the taller mountains near the center of the main mountain, the Divine Moon Peak, where the Patriarch lives and where Yin was currently being healed.

Truth be told, to be treated as such was actually giving too much face for a mere elder of a first-tier city family. The Ye Clan is only half of the entire Ye Sect, while the Ye Sect currently shares the control of the Leaf City with the Wu Family and the Ravenrise Mercenaries. In comparison, Ming Yue Sect is a mammoth from the capital and was a direct subordinate of the Qing Blessed Lands, with branches all over the tiered cities.

Why would they need to give special treatment to a mere first-tiered city elder?

However, Ye Mo was not too pleased by this as all his thoughts were focused on that one little stinky brat who was as cold as ice. He was worried both for her safety and the political insinuation of Patriarch Ye Wuqing's instruction.

Had she woken up already?

Was she in pain?

Was she terrified to find herself amidst strangers?

Nah, Ye Mo bitterly smiled at the last thought. He could still vividly remember how calm Little Yin was in the middle of a carnage. He had greatly admired her spunk from back then. That kind of mentality was rare, almost like a pearl among swine, and he could not help but imagine what kind of experiences could such a young girl go through to have such breadth of mind.

With that kind of mentality, coupled with her attitude, it could only highlight how amazing her personal background could be. Not to mention, she was an owner of a Spiritual Body. From what he knew, there were only two Spirit Body owners in Leaf City. One was a young master from the Wu Clan, and the other was the Saintess of this Ming Yue Sect branch.

Gut feeling even tells him that with Yin around, things wouldn't be so monotonous.

Ye Mo could even faintly sense that this little imp had a kind of destiny that would astound not just Leaf City, but also the entire Qing Blessed Lands. Maybe, even beyond.

However, all those would be mere towers in the air if Little Yin was not saved.

A while ago, to pass time, he tried training his sword moves by borrowing an ordinary weapon from one of the guards. He also borrowed a simple white robe because he was starting to feel cold in his simple nightwear. However, he could not focus despite trying to distract himself. He could only make basic swings without much power.

Even if Little Yin recovers, could he take her back with him? Would they even let him see her?

Suddenly, a servant approached him carrying a card. "Elder Ye, Princess Zhi is outside and wishes to have an audience with you."

Princess Zhi?

Zhi Ruo? She's here?

Black lines appeared on his face.

'Drats! I thought she returned to the main sect!'

Just as he was thinking of an excuse to get away, a fairly tall lady in a majestic phoenix robe slowly approached, trailed by a line of capable-looking servants and guards.

As one of the Saintesses of Ming Yue Sect and as the daughter of its Supreme Elder and sister of the current Sect Leader, the third princess Zhi Ruo was a powerful sword cultivator and a beautiful sight to behold.

She had a delicate, melon seed face with little make-up and had a luxurious figure, curvy in all the right places yet with a waist so thin she looked like she wasn't even eating.

With a gentle and amiable temperament, her suitors could line up from the Leaf City all the way to the capital. She was considered one of the top beauties not just in the Ming Yue Sect, but in the entire Qing Blessed Lands, and if not for her illustrious background, she would have been married long ago.

However, because of her talent and popularity, the sect had allowed her to choose her own husband and not become a pawn of political marriage.

"Little Sister Ruo'er begs forgiveness for imposing on Elder Ye today without notice. I hope my presence does not delay you from your sword practice."

With a smile that could bring pearls and flowers to shame, the third princess made a small curtsy in front of him.

Ye Mo did not know whether he should laugh or cry. Because of this little missy, his life had been turned to hell! Ever since she announced that she liked him, countless suitors of hers had come to challenge him, and he was not even given the right to refuse because most of them were from backgrounds he could not offend.

"Third princess is too polite," Ye Mo bowed, pursing his lips in order to set his thoughts straight.

"Elder Ye, I must insist that you call Ruo'er little sister. Or are you deliberately distancing yourself because you feel I am beneath your notice?"

Ye Mo inwardly groaned. "Young ancestor, please stop teasing me."

Zhi Ruo giggled as she pulled her soft sword from her scabbard. "You feel different today Elder Ye, somehow stronger, your aura deeper. Did Elder Ye just have a recent breakthrough?"

Her maids and guards wordlessly stepped away to form a semi-circle around them. They were so in-sync, it was apparent this had happened countless times before.

"Fate is really a strange thing. Who would have known that you would be visiting here just as I returned? Shall we exchange notes and continue where we left off last time? I am now also in the peak level of the Divine Awakening Stage, just perfect for you to test your strength."

She likes him? She wants to marry him? Do you think he's a toad lusting over a swan?

What a joke!

She's obviously a martial arts maniac! The worse kind! All she thought of him was a sparring partner!

She just returned from the capital? Fate?

Hey, you missy, why don't I believe you?
