Date (2)

William and Mia walked out the door while her mother was waving goodbye. She had a blooming smile on her face as she energetically waved her hand.

"Have fun!" Mrs. Hill said.

Mia felt awkward about her mother's reaction. Although this was her first date, the commotion that her mother created made her feel that it was going to be her prom in senior high. She did not attend hers, so she could somewhat understand her mother's feelings. However, she still felt it was too much.

She stared at William's profile while looking at his reaction. She wondered if he was also embarrassed, but looking at his confident walk, she thought it was impossible for him to feel embarrassed. She was thinking that he must have had a lot of dates prior to this considering his popularity with the ladies.

She knew how much the women in his company wanted to spend time with him. He had his pick with the women around him. Mia suddenly remembered Melissa and her reaction, something pricked her heart when she remembered Melissa. She knew how close they were before they had some conflict and Melissa had to leave the company. She wondered if things would have been different if Melissa did not leave the company.

*prick*

There was another stabbing prick that she felt in her heart. Just imagining the two being happy together made her annoyed. She touched her chest, thinking about the prickling sensation that she kept on experiencing.

Mia decided to stop thinking about other things as she would like to enjoy her day with William with no worries. She suddenly remembered what Stephanie told her, "Don't worry as your fairy godmother will fulfill your wish. Your date will be perfect." She said this with a wink as though she was casting a spell. She always thought about how Stephanie was able to calm her nerves at times like these. She trusted her friend and that's what she will do.

William, on the other hand, looked confident on the outside. However, deep down inside, his brain was in turmoil wondering if his decision for their date was wrong. He made plans for where to take Mia, but he kept thinking how simple his mind was for picking the place where they were heading. It was special for him, but he did not know if Mia felt the same way as he did for the location of their date. His actions were robotic and the plastered smile on his face was by reflex. He was sweating inside thinking of ways to calm his nerves.

William went to the car and opened the door for Mia. Mia got in without a hitch and thanked William with a smile.

Once they were in the car, William drove away without talking. A couple of minutes passed and there was an awkward silence. William could not think of the right words to start a conversation so he focused himself on driving.

Mia started to feel uncomfortable with the silence and could not help herself anymore.

"Uhmm… Where are we going?"

William breathes a sigh when he heard Mia talk. He smiled and said, "It's a secret."

Mia was looking at William as he answered and smiled. Although he was wearing a cap and a simple get-up, he still looks handsome. He looked like an athlete with his lean body and long legs. She looked at herself and wondered if her get-up should have been different. She did not know where they were heading but she hoped her dress would not get in the way.

William played some soft music while saying, "You can relax, and it will take a minimum of an hour before we reached our destination. There are some snacks and drinks in that compartment. You can eat what you like if you feel hungry."

Mia was curious as she opened the compartment. She was surprised as the compartment was filled to the brim as some of the candies spilled out. She looked at William with an expression saying, "What were you thinking?"

William could not see Mia's reaction but he heard the rustling and falling sound of plastic as he said, "I might have put on too much… he he…"

Mia felt more relaxed with his action. She felt that today was not as different as any other interaction she had with William. She thought to herself as she looked at William, "This isn't so bad."
