Zhao Lin

In a ruined building that was covered in vegetation, a young lad could be seen climbing among the rubble. He had a bag and thick metal plated clothing. On his side was a long dagger holstered.

The lad reached a certain nest like area near the top. A tree had grown to infest part of the building, branches, vines and all. The lad landed on some solid footing before taking a look around the area. His eyes were dark brown and sharp like a beast. His short black hair made him look like a ruffian among the teenage children. He was thin but toned, was a bit short for 2 meters.

He walked in deeper within the building, lightly and carefully. He soones reached a large open area, and inside was strange noises. As one got closer it would resemble the sounds of chicken clucks.

The lad hide behind a large pile a rubble near the entrance of the large room. The chickens were much large, the feathers longer, the beaks sharper, their legs longer and with talons. But kept the resemblance of a chicken. Their color were a light gray however and as large as a vehicle. Many chicken like creatures were roaming the room, while other sat on nest. Dozens and dozens of them.

Looking closely at the nest, dozens of head size eggs laid in the nest. And there were dozens of nest. The lad smiled as he saw the large amount of eggs.

-heh heh heh, Another great harvest. If I can just get an entire nest I will be able to eat for an entire month!- he thought while drooling. .

Whipping the drool off, he jumped over and started walking to the chickens. Looking at them, they would terrify anybody, although they looked like chicken, they also looked like raptors with feathers. But surprisingly, as he went up the chickens actually were afraid of him, many flocked away while the others flew to their nest.

The lad came up to one of the nest that had a chicken guarding it. As he came up, he drew his dagger and slowly moved closer to it. The chicken like raptor became protective, and swiped with his sharp talons. The lad persisted and swiped with his blade hitting a bit of the chicken on the wing. The chicken only reacted more furiously.

Seeing this the lad backed up and started for another nest.

-I rather not fight these things. They might be scared of me, but they can kill me easier than they can fly.-

As long as he found a nest that was timid enough, he could scare the chicken away to secure his harvest. Of course these chickens seem much more wild and smarter than regular ones.

The lad reached a nest with a chicken shaking at him. The chicken raptor shook more and more as he slowly slid closer, before it suddenly open its wings and flapped. It flew a few meters in the air before falling back down then gliding. It had moved away from its nest.

The lad had an ecstatic look as he quickly ran for the nest with his bag. He placed them all inside while counting each, one by one like they were diamonds. As they feel in the back, the sounded hard, almost like stones. In total, he obtained a total of 27 eggs. This was a large nest, and he was surprising to have found so many.

-so many, this chicken must've had a big rooster around.-

he said smiling to himself. As he places the remaining eggs in, he caught eye of a strange stone. This stone had a green gem in the center and was inside a square frame. The gem glew slightly and was quite pretty. He put it away before picking up his bag again. He rushed to get his things and moved to another nest.

-so many eggs, this could last more than a month, and I could sell some if i get more. I still have more time to harvest from more nest till the rooster pack gets here.- thoughts raced through the young lads head as he quick moved on to the next nest. It was until he froze as he heard a deep thumping sound. Turning, he soon saw a 4 meter high creature. It was almost like a small t rex but with feathers. And judging from his deep color and feathers and features, the lad could tell this was a rooster of this rest.

In this nest the roosters would all often leave and hunt, and leave the chickens. It was rare for one to remain, and this was due to the creatures vicious looks and peaceful nesting grounds. This was the main reason the lad had chosen the time of day to go here. But to his misfortune, a single rooster rex had been able to have him in his sight.

"RAWR" the rooster rex roared before charging at him.

The hairs on the boy stood up and he frantically turned and ran.

-Sh*t! Who did i piss off to have them give me such bad luck?!- he thought to himself as he ran.

He had some distant between them, allowing him to run around to another entrance way. With a quick turn he jumped out a window of a corridor. As he jumped he was over 30 meters above the ground. But because of the vegetation many vines were hanging loosely. He quickly hanged on to one while the other held he dagger. He swung and jumped to a branch. When he looked back he saw the giant rex stop in the corridor walking back and forth. Roaring.

But suddenly, he stopped, faced him, and perched his body down.

"Sh*t." He said aloud. He ran toward the trunk of the tree. The rooster rex flapped its mighty wings and lept. It soared toward the branch that the lad had landed on. The rex landed and the branch bent down. It realized it could not hold on to the branch and was slipping down. As it pulled the branch down with it, the lad fell toward the rooster rex.

Seeing its prey fly towards it, it began chomping at the air to get him. But its body could not bend upwards enough to reach him properly, as he had landed on its stomach. The lad swung back and forth as the rex that was practically upside down was slipping down the branch he raised his dagger and began to stab repeatedly.

The rooster began to roar in pain as it felt the deep stabs of the dagger. Soon it lost its grip. The two fell toward the ground from 30 meters. As the two began to free fall, the rex was soon able to shake him off and move its head towards him. But the lad swung and hit the head away. He then aimed his dagger at the neck.

"SLAM!"

The two smashed into the ground, and a splatter of blood appeared. And dust and rocks flew up into the air creating a cloud. As it disappeared, it revealed the a giant beast with a dagger in its throat. It squirmed and choked as it tried to roar, soon it laid lifeless on the ground.

Several meters away, another figure could be seen on the ground. It was the lad. He struggled to get on all fours before he grunted in pain and held in side.

-Broken ribs. Damn. Oh F*** this hurts.- He reached for a large pocket on his pants and opened the flap. He reached in and pulled a small injector like gun. He pointed at his ribs and jabbed himself, and pulled the trigger. The small vial on the injector began to slowly drain into him.

The pain inside his chest began to slowly ease, giving him back some strength and allowed to him to stand. He moved towards the dead rooster rex on the ground. It was lifeless, it had taken the brute force of the fall for him, while he landed on the somewhat soft stomach of the feathered beast. But the force was enough to throw him off and break some ribs.

He climbed on and reached for his dagger, pulling it out. The blood still freshly smeared on it. With a quick swing, the blade was shining once again.

"This was a good investment." He said as he climbed down with it. He then stood on top of where the heart should be, and began cutting it open. He reached in and found what he was looking for. As his armed pulled out, it revealed a crystal like rock.

As he saw it, he smiled in glee, even more so than the eggs.

-hahaha, with this, and the other parts of the rooster rex, I could easily sell them and have enough money for food for month!-

He quickly got to work, as he began to cut out all the organs, the talons, and the hide. He took a small chunk of meat as well, the size of his upper body. The entire pile was tied and packed properly into a cube like object, with the hide as the wrapping.

He raised his hand and soon a beam of light shot from his hand and hit the pile of rooster rex parts, and disappeared.

He looked down at his hand which had a ring on it. The spot where a gem should be was made of glass. As the glowing gem spot dimmed, the details of the ring were very metal, and a small number appeared on the glass gem spot. 57%

-The conveniences of this ring out ways the price.- he thought to himself.

The boy then making his way out of the building. As he was outside and on the ground, he merely walked out and made his way home. Moving for ten minutes, he soon heard the sounds of roars within the building he left.

These roads were not roars of sorrow. These beast were carnivores, and would gladly eat any meat lying on their territory. Even if it is their own. Most likely those were cheers for fresh meat.

He stopped and saw a small pack of the same rooster rex that he killed, move into the building. If he had stood around too much, he most likely be dead already.

"Ring, Ring! Ring Ring!"

A noise sounded from his arm. The watch he had on began to blink brightly. He raised it and pressed a button on the side, which then made a small holographic monitor.

"Big Brother? Where are you? Mom and dad are asking for you, and they're getting impatient." A small girl appeared on the monitor and spoke softly as if not to be heard. She had the same black hair that was tied into a tail. She had cute round eyes, and her voice was like a small angle speaking. She wore a pink pajama that was plain.

The sky had started to darken before he knew it.

"Yeah. Don't worry I'll be home in half an hour. Xiao Yun, your brother has made a great haul today." He said smiling. But that smile froze, because right then a voice sounded in the background.

"Haul?! Zhao Zhu Lin!! Are you in the wilderness?! Oh god! Get home this instant young man!"

A woman began screaming and yelling frantically while calling to him. His mother must have overheard the conversation. He wasn't aloud to leave the neighborhood, muchless the city. As the wilderness was filled with beast, it was a land of danger and death.

"Yes mother, right away mother, yes mother. I understand. I will mother…."
