Party (4)

As Xi Rin weaved from crowds to crowds, interacting with everyone, she eventually grew exhausted. Being one of the only few female youths in the village, all the adults liked to concern themselves over her as if she was their own niece.

Take this instance for an example. Xi Rin currently is stuck in the middle of a circle surrounded by aunties who are fussing around her. They were fussing over things like how simple she was dressed, how to apply makeup and other girly things that she much rather not do. Eventually, the topic turned towards a weird direction, once which she dreaded.

"Sooooo~ Xi Rin, is there anyone you like?" One of the women asked her in a playful tone.

"Auntie, haha... No. I'm still much too young for that."

"Nonsense. You're already at a marriageable age. It's about time to find someone, isn't it?"

"Ahahaha..."

"How about Qiu Zhi? Not only you are close to him, but he's also quite the handsome fellow?" Another villager suggested.

Xi Rin blushed bright red. "Auntie! It's not like that. I only see him as a friend. A brother!"

"Oh? But since you live him, it is inevitable that some... steamy things are bound to happen? After all, you guys are a woman and a man, living under one roof."

"Auntie!"

All the women roared in laughter, causing Xi Rin to blush a deeper shade of red.

Xi Rin excused herself, quick to escape the embarrassment and made her way towards a refreshment table. Grabbing a cool drink, she chugged it down, trying to forget her embarrassment.

"Yooo! Xi Rin!" Qiu Zhi suddenly called out to her, causing her to choke on her drink. Coughing, Qiu patted her back worriedly as she tries to calm down. Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the aunties winking at her as they talked in hushed voices about how she and Qiu Zhi looked so cute together.

This immediately caused her face to blush bright red once more.

"Eh? Xi RIn, are you okay? Your face is red."

Xi Rin just softly "tch" at him and turned away, leaving Qiu Zhi confused about what he did wrong.

"This is such a nice place. It's such a shame."

Although others might be confused by what she meant "it's such a shame." Qiu Zhi understood perfectly.

"Yes. The atmosphere here is so nice and lovely. It's unique and different." Much different from where he came from.

It's such a shame that they had to leave.

"You know..." Qiu started. "You could always stay?"

"Haha, no."

The two continued chatting pleasantly before Qiu Zhi suddenly lowered his voice.

"He's... been staring at you for a while now isn't he?"

Xi Rin immediately knew who he referred to as she raised her head to look at the silver-masked man, only to find him staring at her again. Surprised, the man's eyes from under the mask widened. However, he just blinked it away and turned his gaze away to somewhere else as if he wasn't just caught red-handedly staring at her.

"Yeah. Kinda creepy, but I don't think he means anything bad."

Qiu Zhi nodded in agreement since he doesn't feel any malicious intent from the man either.

"Furthermore," Xi Rin continued her sentence. "I don't think he can do anything bad in front of such a crowd either."

So the two just continued to talk after reaching that conclusion. Meanwhile, more and more people arrived at the party and soon the courtyard was filled to the brim.
