...
Almost a year had passed, although Yun had no way of knowing how much time he spent listening to the elders' lecture, he would surely be sad to know that a lecture lasting seven hours, having listened to it around a thousand times he had finally caught onto an epiphany.
Sitting in meditation for more than 7000 hours, due to the lecture and him comprehending a few words each lecture easily wasted the seven hours, he did not notice the huge amount of time he wasted comprehending the lecture. It would have gone ten or twenty times faster if he had listened to the lecture and then comprehended it in one go, just like the elder had said.
With this epiphany he finally felt the essence of the jing energy, controlling it to his lower dantian he formed a smalled whirl of energy which over the course of an hour changed the energy into a sliver of a yellowish energy.
'This is Qi!' excitedly clenching his fists he stood up and scoured the area, after being in a trance-like state he actually did not know where he should go, since this space was all white he just kept walking away. The lecture went on ...
Finally, after walking for quite a while, he stumbled upon the youth cultivating the Karmic Severance Cultivation Technique, this time the figure was clear as an image depicted on still water. He was able to see the breathing pattern and pick out the start and end of the breathing method.
Quickly seating himself in a meditative stance mirroring the youth that looked like himself, he began breathing accordingly. Soon he found his qi moving through his body, although it started out being just a tiny sliver of qi he actually found himself absorbing qi from around him. The initially small sliver of qi that was rigid turned smoother and whiter, instead of being yellow. After doing the breathing method once he exhaled a turbid breath of qi.
Standing up again he nodded and went along the way.
Similarly, he soon found the illusion of himself with the energies swirling inside him. The two energies were still red and purple, but the yellow energy was more white looking purer than last time he was here.
He immediately started practicing controlling his qi through the different meridians just like the illusion did. Leaving small amounts of his qi to block entrance at certain meridians that would mislead the two energies out through acupoints, this was also knowledge which he picked up at the lecture.
Acupoints were incredibly hard to break open, and only with sufficient amount and pure qi would one be able to break apart the acupoints that are blocked. Finally, he found himself capable of doing just as the illusion depicted.
Silently nodding his head he was awed by his own success. If others were to know how much time he spent, if he himself knew, they would definitely cry out loud, who had the patience to wait a whole year to be capable of finally creating qi, this was the same us understanding the very simplest of the whole lecture. In reality, the lecture would help one breakthrough all dans up to the 7th dan.
How crude would one's knowledge of cultivation be for one only to learn how to refine qi after 7000 hours of repeatedly hearing the lecture. One would definitely feel ashamed.
As soon as Yun opened his eyes again he suddenly trembled, his awareness gradually returned and in mere moments the sight which was originally black went back to being a colorful scene. His two hands were currently touching the pillars! Sweat was pouring profusely from his pores, and the crowd was so confused and astonished that they were on the brink of fainting.
Who as a sane person would touch both pillars, as a mortal with no cultivation background this was the same as suicide, a feeble person such as the youth was definitely going to die!
The senior's from the sects looked just as astonished, and before anyone could say anything Jiang Ji's frown turned weird as he spoke.
"This Yun seemed to have done it unintentionally, if he can survive this I hope you all already know of my intention of taking him in as a disciple, if he does not survive I hope we can all forget this and lament how he has simply been too unlucky and ignorant."
To Jiang Ji's words, the others simply nodded and turned to spectate the youth undergoing the test.
As he was currently in the real world, Yun had already practiced exactly what to do, he instantly tried to circulate his qi to form the blocks, just that when he tried he noticed something fatal.
He currently had no qi! Sweat started pouring even more and his eyes widened in shock. If he was able to slap himself then surely he would do so.
In the white space he had achieved the ability to control his qi, but in real time he had not undergone any cultivation. A cold shiver rolled down his back as he quickly started sensing his jing energy and controlled it to go to his lower dantian to form a swirl, after a breaths time he had already formed a sliver of qi.
At this point he realised he was unable to sit down and meditate the breathing method, but quickly pondering he realised that the breathing method was a solution for someone who already knew of qi, the fact that the energy in the illusion changed color slightly after the breathing method had been cultivated was because the original yellow energy was still sufficient for the task!
Although he had qi right now, he was running out of time, and there was not enough qi to form the necessary blockages inside his meridians, he quickly controlled his breathing and tried to do the breathing cultivation method in his condition while also leading more and more jing energy into his lower dantian to form more qi. He was multi-tasking like an insane person, but this was well reasoned knowing that he was on the way to death's door.
While the breathing cultivation method did help gather a bit of qi, it was not quite fast enough, luckily his jing energy transformed into qi and with the amount it kept creating he kept leading it into his meridians to form the necessary blockages.
Just as he finished the last blockage the two energies met each other and went on a rampage. Earlier when Yun had practiced all of this, he was still not in his own shoes, meaning the illusion was merely an illusion and not him.
The pain he currently felt had him on the verge of tearing apart, the white space had not taught him how he would overcome or avoid the pain. Luckily for him, it only took a moment for the rampaging energies to burst from the acupoints they were lead to.
This also marked that although the ability to create qi was signifying one's advancement to a 1-dan mortal fighter realm, the seven acupoints that he opened was the same as him being half a step into the 1-dan immortal realm. The gargantuan head start he had now was invaluable.
Opening 16 acupoints signified 1-dan immortal realm, the 2-dan immortal realm was 32 acupoints, 64 for 3-dan immortal realm, 128 acupoints for 4-dan immortal realm. After that it was no longer acupoints that mattered, the meridians corresponding with the 128 acupoints would then have to be in synergy to open the clogged and closed meridians.
Forming a complete circuit by breaking open the Conception Vessel leading from the lower dantian to the head, would then join with the Governing Vessel to create a full circuit, thus allowing one to reach 5-dan immortal realm.
To the seniors watching Yun making the breakthrough, this signified a whole lot, who were to care about his talent anymore? His ability to be a half 1-dan immortal while being only in the 1-dan mortal fighter realm was astonishing in itself, when had they ever heard of such a legend?
While everyone was confused and in shock, Yun finally regained a stable consciousness and let out a turbid breath. He hastily turned his gaze to look at the two pillars, in hopes of having somewhat capable talent.
The elder in charge of guiding the students with the test frowned when he saw Yun's expectant gaze. How was he expecting to get a result after destroying the essence of the testing pillars, just the goddamn fact that this kid did not even know of his own wrongdoings...
Unlike the seniors who knew what happened, the crowd and most of the other people around had no clue what had just occurred, rather how that kid was still fine. It was a common fact that two intruding energies with differing backgrounds and differing strength would be able to cause one to explode, so when they saw Yun sweating profusely and being on the brink of death, they surely thought he would die.
How were they to know that, abruptly, he was fine and looked at the pillars expectantly, who would not be confused and in shock? Uhm kid, can you tell us how you are even alive before you think of your results? What goddamn show is this? Freakshow possibly?
The elder was one of these figures, although he came from a sect, and he also knew that the only way for a non-cultivator to survive was to somehow defeat the energies or get rid of them, seeing how this kid did not even show any sign of surprise, he was just as confused.
What more, these pillars were priceless! They were the inventory of his great sect! Each sect would have a few and rarely used them in public, mostly they were used to asses strength, assessing talent was just one feature that they had activated this time.
These pillars usually assessed the strength of respectively, fighter and immortal rank disciples. Only inner disciples were inclined to this, normally a sect would only have 100-500 disciples, meaning that these pillars were the one that decided the rankings and allocation of resources among the most favored of all the freshmen and youths in a sect!
Which sect did not hold them as treasures, it required a tier 4 blacksmith with profound experience to craft, just the requirements for becoming a tier 4 blacksmith was immeasurable.
Actually, the elder had no idea what to say, and when he looked back up at the seniors, he was just as shocked, seeing the appearance of the seniors he immediately thought that they were unsatisfied.
First of all, they were all pale and shaking, second of all, they were all standing up with frowns and tightly clenched fists! He knew what he had to do to satisfy his seniors, of course, this kid was a good for nothing for having destroyed the pillars, as such, it was his job as the elder in charge of this group to also punish his wrongdoings.
"Hmph -!" the elder went in front of Yun and looked at him with his sharply creased brows. "You broke these two pillars, they are treasures from our sect, how do you expect us to go back like this, will our sects not take us responsible for this? How will you pay us back?" he said as he flung his sleeves and placed his hands behind his back.
Yun was even more in shock, break? These two pillars broke so easily? What a scam!
"I can't see any change in the pillars, how rude to say that I broke them! They are standing just fine with no more and no fewer scars than before! This is unjust treatment, I have done nothing wrong, I did as said, placed my hands on the pillars just as you described."
He looked around and saw all of the expressions on everyone, what the heck? I did nothing wrong, what is up with everyone? He could not help but doubt his own words...
Did I go amok while I was fighting the energies? Maybe I accidentally evolved for a few seconds and destroyed everything, but the heck! everything looks just fine, how can anything they say make sense?
