Chapter 47

In the middle of a wide open area on the top floor of an apartment building stood an enraged Hunter surrounded by tier 2 goblins. What he didn't know was at the same time in a large casino like building his fight was one of the premier highlights since this game started. Countless creatures, people, and plants were making bets against the house, eachother, and groups. This aspect is one of the greatest parts of the AI's game.

Of course back in the corner on a couch was still Artemis and Camila were watching the scene as well. Artemis looked at Hunter and sighed but the look in her eye became determined. She looked at her account and all the points she got from Hunter doing so well and decided to bet it all on him one more time. Camila shocked at her friend's action but in the end decided to bet on this human as well, not to the extent of all or nothing like Artemis but still at least half her points.

Unlike the contestants of Evo Wars the guides gain points as the things they guide grow stronger, kill things, complete achievements, and of course evolve. For actually ratios for every percent they grow stronger at tier zero the guide gains one point and every higher tier that gain is multiplied by ten. For every ten points gained from killing things the guide gains ten percent. Depending on the difficulty of the achievement the guide will gain from ten to fifty percent of the points the contestant earns, if they gain items or benefits that is transferred to a valued amount. Finally for evolutions the guide can gain anything from ten points to millions depending on what evolution happened. For each bloodline advancement Hunter made Artemis got ten thousand points but when he evolved to have a subspecies of dragonkin she got a million points.

Of course Hunter knew nothing about all this his only focus at the moment was starting a massacre. That was Artemis' concern because those goblins aren't like the ones he previously defeated. Unknown to everyone and everything that was born on earth when the invading creatures were brought to earth each group had an elite party so to speak. These elite parties are between ten to fifty filled with tier 2s and at least one tier 3. All the tier 2s Hunter had faced so far were newly evolved after coming to earth, on the other hand all the tier 2s currently surrounding him were at least in the mid stages of tier 2.

They also had equipment from their own worlds. Form fitting armor and decent weapons that weren't scavenged from the surroundings. Finally the last thing Hunter didn't know about was the change in quality from tier 2 to tier 3. From tier 0 to tier 1 isn't actually a huge jump in quality and tier 0 humans still have a chance against higher tier creatures, of course depending on the creature. Tier 1 to tier 2 is a lot bigger of a jump but with proper skills or specialized strength the gap can be closed. Tier 3 on the other hand is enough to be called a demigod on earth. Something along the lines of strength like Hercules or the agility of Achilles.

The pure stats of tier 3s are usually specialized around one or two aspects. Goblins are actually one of the easiest races to kill because one of these aspects is there reproductive system, they can easily mate with any race and have them bare their children. Unfortunately the tier 3 focused on Hunter had four specialized aspects. Not that he was born talented but he had been stuck in tier 3 for so many years that he managed to specialize in strength, speed, and regeneration, on top of his race's specialization. In other words he is a straight bruiser that doesn't mind taking a beating as long as he can give it back.

Hunter might not have known this but everyone making bets was able to read the background of both fighters and their individual strengths. Artemis was of the vase minority to place their faith in Hunter. What fueled her faith was just blind hope that a golden goose wasn't about to die but the constant messages that the Evo system was sending Hunter. He wasn't able to read them at the moment but she was.

Any other time these rapid evolutions may have killed Hunter but the last few hours he had eaten dozens of tier 1 goblin hearts and a little over a half a dozen tier 2 goblin hearts. His energy storage was actually almost to the point of being dangerously full. Now that he is in a hyperactive state of evolution that energy is being put to full use, the only downside is that dragons are one of the creatures at the top of the food chain for a reason and even their descendants are high class creatures. The amount of energy they need to strengthen themselves is enormous and Hunter is currently upgrading his draconian lineage at full throttle.

This cause Hunter to feel two things angry and hungry. Of course to some that would make this a perfect scenario because he is in a do or die situation where if he can survive this fight he jumps to the top of the food chain. The other option is to due either due to literal energy starvation or well you know goblins. Either way is not an easy way to die. Even now his energy has gone from ninety percent full to little less than thirty and still draining fast.

As the hunger grew to the point of overpowering it fueled his rage which caused the hunger to in turn to increase. Usually Hunter wouldn't blindly rush into a fight but think first, that wasn't an option in this case.

Hunter pushed off the ground leaving a footprint in the floor almost collapsing it altogether as he rushed towards the nearest goblin. This goblin was two meters tall equipped with plate armor that cover most of his body. In his hands there is an axe and round shield. Trying to ward Hunter off he raises his shield to block and readies his axe to follow up.

What happened next was beyond his understanding. His shield with his arm still connected goes flying to the side, blood doesn't even have a chance to gush out before his other arm follows it with axe still in hand. The axe actually strikes the shield of the goblin next to it. Finally blood starts to fly from it's two shoulders. In shock he doesn't even get to scream before his head is torn off his neck with a look of disbelief still there. Hunter ignores everything else and starts to shred the body apart and pull at the heart, the sound of chewing and swallowing fills the area.

Covered in blood chewing on a goblin heart the sight of Hunter fills the eyes of everyone present. His body covered in crimson black scales, wings as dark as night extended out from his back. Eyes stain so red it looked as if they were filled with fresh blood. His face and chest covered in a fresh layer of blood. If only he had a pair of horns he would look like a demo  straight from hell, of course to the other goblins who couldn't even react while one of their own was killed and eaten he already was a demon.

In the casino for AIs roars and gasps ring out, as new odds come out and Hunter's updated status page shows the new skills another round of bets are placed as well as curses. Artemis still on her couch fingers clenched can only stare at the form looking less human by the minute. Saying only one thing over and over again. "Please live."

[Might be another one later on no promises.]
