"Yes!" 3 days had passed, experiment after experiment had failed, but Jim finally succeeded. He had taken the function from Create Fire and Light Orb and added it to Create Water, an orb of water was now floating in front of his chest.
[Magic Knowledge Skill Obtained]
Next, Jim attempted to add the function to Create Soil, a couple of hours were spent tinkering and testing until a mound of dirt was floating before him. 'Okay, now, let's figure out propulsion.'
Two days passed, using Flame and Small Gust as examples, he figured out how to add propulsion to a spell.
A ball of water formed and shot forwards, smashing into the earth wall.
[Congratulations Host For Creating Your First Original Spell, Talented Mage Gift Pack x 1 Awarded]
Checking his spell list, there was another entry called ???. 'I'll name it...Water Shot.' the spell was now named as such in the list. 'Let's open that pack!'
It had been some time since he got a new type of gift pack, he got excited at the prospects of a unique reward.
[Talented Mage Gift Pack Opened]
[Ruby Staff Obtained]
[Oak Wand Obtained]
[Minor Teleport Spell Obtained]
[Ice Gem Obtained]
Jim had seen the Ruby Staff and Oak Wand in the shop before, they were cheap items that slightly increased Mana and Magic stats, he felt they weren't very useful and didn't purchase them.
Minor Teleport on the other hand, Jim had spotted it in the list and couldn't afford it, with a whopping price of 1,000,000 points, this could be considered a large gain.
The Ice Gem though, he hadn't seen it listed in the shop before, 'Appraisal'
[Ice Gem - Quality: Common]
[Rare Magically Formed Jewel, Stores Ice Element Energy]
[Energy: 0]
'Zero Energy? Can I charge it?' Jim tried gathering up some of his internally stored mana and pushing it against the gem, he felt a sense of repulsion. 'So it can't store or convert neutral energy?'
Jim set the matter aside, he placed the gem in his inventory. He was incredibly tempted to start practicing Minor Teleport immediately, but quelled the desire in order to continue learning about magic circles.
An hour was spent modifying Create Soil into a projectile, he named it Soil Shot. Now he wanted to do the opposite, having the Flame spell float without shooting forward. It was harder than he thought it'd be, spending an entire 5 hours to successfully modify the spell, he found no new entry in the spell list. 'Because it's basically Create Fire now?'
Jim noticed that he hadn't used Spark a single time since purchasing it, he began casting the spell.
[Lightning Magic Skill Obtained]
Tiny electric arcs began appearing on his right palm, he touched the earthen wall nearby and the electricity vanished. Casting it again, he left the house and touched some nearby grass, the grass withered up and started letting out smoke. Jim immediately used Create Water to make sure he wouldn't start a forest fire.
After confirming the effects of the spell, he began studying the circle. 'Oh? So it's like this...interesting.' Putting the new knowledge into practice, Jim modified Create Fire to emit from his palm. A little fire popped out and stayed attached to his left hand. 'Did I mess up?' Studying the differences between them, he found the slight change which shifted the body part the spell emitted from.
Replicating the mistake with the Spark spell, it indeed emitted from his left hand instead of his right. He began experimenting further by making slight alterations. The flames coming out of his foot ended up damaging his shoes. He felt the electricity coming from his forehead looked cool when looking at it in the mirror, but the occasional electric arcs flashing in front of his eyes was annoying.
Jim was ecstatic when he became able to shoot fireballs out of his mouth, he ended up playing around with that for an hour. Heading back to eat and sleep, Jim started Serene Mind after waking up. *Crack*
'Oh?' He broke through to the fourth realm, Spirit Lord. A massive surge of power settling within himself made Jim feel like an invincible god. He couldn't wait, heading out to the forest again he wanted to test out this power.
Jim found it extremely easy to move Qi outside his body and control it now, he pulled out a large lump of Qi and had it slam downwards. *Boom* Jim was stunned at the destructive power, over twenty trees were completely destroyed, the land underneath caved in like a meteor had just slammed down.
It was above his expectations, the loud booming sound seemed to alert several people from afar. He took off before anyone came to investigate.
Back at home, Jim started training Detection again, he could cover most of the united states with parts of canada and mexico in his perception now. He couldn't process it all at once though, even with parallel processing. Focusing on smaller areas, he let his mind wander across the land. The FBI agent was still watching the condo. Jim wasn't sure what caused them to begin surveilling him, he felt he had been rather low-key in using his powers, but they didn't seem to want to bust in and arrest him, Jim let it slide.
This ability to shrug off worries was unthinkable to the Jim of yesteryear, the thought of a neighbor looking at him funny would have caused him to panic. Now he wasn't bothered while watched by law enforcement.
Cancelling Detection, Jim snuck out of the house again and went to the hobbyist shop. It had been what seems like forever since the last time he came here, this time he was purchasing some fabric. Spending over $200, he headed back home and borrowed his mom's sewing kit again.
[Tailoring Skill Obtained]
[Tailoring Level Max]
Jim made mittens, hats, cushions, anything he could think of. Libta had come over part-way through and plopped her chin on his shoulder, watching him work. He decided to make a dress for her, it was a light blue one piece that went down to her knees.
Seeing her put it on and look into the mirror, he smiled at how pretty she was. She headed over to the pile of finished works and took a towel. She wrapped it around her shoulders like a scarf, then put a cap on her head and mittens on her hands. Seeing her turn over looking for praise, Jim could only think '...This girl has no sense of fashion.'
