Ling Lei found it somewhat amusing and grinned seeing Yun Bai frown after his formation's core was struck down. "What's wrong Yun Bai? Can't process the fact your formation turned into nothing by a simple palm strike?"
Yun Bai burrowed his eyebrows. He didn't let Ling Lei's provocation get to him, he knew better than to play to the enemy's rhythm and thus was unfazed.
'I need to quickly think of a way out of this, I can't expect that Karsin fellow to not join in when I'm fighting against Ling Lei. Judging from that palm strike, it seemed that this Karsin is only stronger than Ling Lei by a bit, only enough to suppress him.' He racked his brain, thinking of ways on how to get out of this situation.
'I will deal with Karsin later, the immediate threat right now is... Ling Lei!' He decided that taking one out of the equation was a better solution than idling by.
A knife that wasn't sharpened and maintained will only be a dull knife. He thought that saying best described his current state, he could have taken more countermeasures to these type of situations. In the end, he could only blame himself for being negligent for too long.
He laughed at himself that the number one expert in the realm could be pushed to a corner, too prideful that no one has reached where he stood at.
Determined to finish this as soon as possible, Yun Bai took out a sword from his spatial ring. The sword seemed like any other sword on the street, the only differentiating design was it was its pure white color. Looking closer one would find runes inscribed on it, giving off a faint white light, further complementing the white sword.
"I see you've gotten a new sword there Yun Bai, tell me, was it made by the resources you've plundered from my family?" Ling Lei commented on seeing the sword that he didn't recognize. 'He must've used the batch of Permafrost Steel when making it...'
Permafrost Steel was a special type of material that within the history of the Ling Realm has only shown up five times. It naturally has cold properties so strong that any third-rate expert might freeze to death just by making contact with it. The most recent appearance was the Ling Clan's expedition towards the northern part of the realm and uncovering it deep within the earth, though Yun Bai naturally took it with him when plundering the Ling Clan's resources after making their leader an inch close to death.
Yun Bai's sword was one that he secretly asked an acquaintance who happened to be a top-tier blacksmith in the Ling Realm to make before his retreat to Celestial Retribution Mountain.
Yun Bai's acquaintance was an... eccentric individual gently put. Seeing the Permafrost Steel ignited a fire within him, and he soon asked Yun Bai venture to acquire extra materials that he needed to forge 'the masterpiece' within his head.
Yun Bai didn't mind and quickly set out to gather the materials. He soon noticed it was mostly beast cores from monsters ice-related, it went so far killing a beast dubbed as the Ruler of The Tundra, an ancient living Snow Bear that gained enlightenment. The Snow Bear even conversed with Yun Bai before knowing his intentions of slaying him.
Although the weapon was sidetracked since gathering the list of materials took a bit of time, but the end was worth it as the product produced was not one to disappoint.
Adding to the Permafrost Steel's properties, the various beast cores filled with ice-related energy were put into a pot as they melted into runes that were soon inscribed onto the blade courtesy of the blacksmith's family technique.
Seeing the dominating white color made Yun Bai quickly decide on a name. Pure Snow was the name he decided to give after seeing the sword's appearance, the blacksmith approved fervently at the name. 'Seems like it's time to bring out the cards I have, hopefully, I only need to take out this one.'
Seeing Pure Snow taken out, Karsin made an intrigued expression to the blade and Yun Bai. "So a realm like this was actually capable of producing a blade of this caliber. Interesting."
Although he wasn't showing it, Ling Lei was cursing inwardly at Yun Bai. 'That blade's existence is only capable because of my family, therefore it's only right I take it back!' He was a careful person, although his target was in front of him, this didn't make him lose his reasoning.
'It's best I proceed with caution, there's no telling what he's capable with that blade in hand...'
With that Ling Lei rushed at Yun Bai with a sword in hand, finally confronting the man that nearly destroyed his family's legacy. A sonic boom was made as Ling Lei closed the distance between them. Other cultivators watching the fight couldn't even see Ling Lei making a move, only seeing his figure quickly disappear followed with the said sonic boom.
Yun Bai took Ling Lei's charge with confidence as he stood his ground, only changing his stance to better suit receiving the charge. With the amount of experience he went through, he could quite easily see Ling Lei's approaching figure.
A deafening sound was suddenly made as the fight was brought to a still, with blade meeting blade, everyone knew sparks would fly. What followed was blows being traded between the two people, with hundreds of blows exchanged between the two in the span of seconds.
Seeing the fight made some question why they even decided to fight Yun Bai in the first place, as they realized he could easily behead any one of them if they were in Ling Lei's position. A sleeping monster that awoke from its slumber, to kill the intruders ruining its seclusion.
"The Ling Realm hasn't had a fight this caliber since Yun Bai's fight with the previous Ling Patriarch, now I wonder how I was enticed by Ling Lei to even come to kill this beast..." Chen Liao stood there trembling whilst muttering to himself at the sight of the fight at hand, even the surrounding air felt heavy like some sort of invisible pressure was at play.
Elder Huang that stood next to Chen Liao can only lament at the sight of the fight. "Even though I've experienced many things, this fight is one that even I dare not to participate. Now that I think about of it, Yun Bai is even older than I am, I was too blinded by greed to think on fighting an old monster like him."
There were many feelings that people felt watching the fight, some were scared of the sheer magnitude of the fight, whilst the majority sighed in relief they didn't blindly throw their lives away. However, one thing was certain. They all thought that this was a fight they didn't even deserve to be included, a clash of two colossal titans to the death!
