What friendship means

"Hey, you said you were my old friend! Why are you not helping me then?" he demanded sheepishly.

She gave another huff and confessed, "You have to get them by yourself. I cannot help."

"Huh?" Now Bai Hua was really bewildered.

She sighed and wearily said, "That's why you should not reveal your identity to anyone before you get back your past memories. That's why I took you away from your father to tell you this. You should not reveal it to anyone, not even him. Your old enemies are out there. And though you have awakened, all your powers have not. Only when you get back your memories, you will have your full strength back."

"Enemies? You say I have enemies?" Bai Hua burst out.

"What do you think then? There are enemies out there who have been patiently waiting for your return more than me," she retorted angrily.

The more she looked at him the more she got angry. Initially, she was really happy to find out he was back. But now looking at his clueless and nonchalant 14-year-old face she wanted to beat the heck out of him. He was in his true form yet it was still a 14-year-old avatar. Ah. Why did fate have to punish her as well for his mischiefs? She felt used and betrayed. She did not sign up for this when she first met him. Now she has to babysit him.

She inwardly cursed the day she met him.

The graceful and beautiful woman was gone. Now she looked downcasted as if she was carrying a heavy burden like that Greek Titan, Atlas.

She sighed miserably and said, "When we leave this space both of us will return to our normal appearance. I revealed my true form here for you. So that it could trigger your soul. Both of us need to curb our real auras out there. You try not to reveal yourself too much unless it is really necessary. You resume your normal life and we'll both figure out how to get your past memories. I'll ask some immortals who are out there."

"Don't act impulsively, please, for your sake," and mumbled, "and more importantly for my sake."

"Okay," he agreed obediently.

"Rest here for tonight. I'll leave some of your old cultivation books for you," saying this she produced many scrolls on the table.

She waved her hand and a divan appeared and another table filled with all sorts of mouth-watering delicacies.

"I'll leave you here for now. Call out my name if you need anything."

She took one last look at him and hugged him as she whispered, "I am really glad you're back."

Then she disappeared.

He was shocked at this last display of affection from her after having his ear got pulled by her.

"Look who's the impulsive one," he smirked contentedly. He may have met her here for the first time. But that did not stop him from having a deep faith in her.

He continued drinking the tea and admired the lotuses that were gently swaying in the breeze. If friendship meant waiting for thousands of lonely years only surrounded by these unfeeling lotuses, he indeed felt that he had a true friend.
