Chapter 136: Annoying

As NaNa entered her house, her parents were lounging in the living room.

"You look happy. Anything we should know about?" NaNa's mother saw that NaNa had a delighted expression on her face.

"Where did you go? Who sent you back?" NaNa's father was also curious about her whereabouts.

NaNa said her greeting to her parents and went up to her room without answering her father's question. She kept on fiddling with the ring on her finger. She's happy.

NaNa lay on her bed and kept on rolling a few times; rolling on the bed is her habit when she is happy or excited. She took out her phone and snapped a picture of her ring. Then, she sent it to Yi Fei to infuriate her best friend.

A few minutes later, NaNa received a reply from Yi Fei. Yi Fei sent her a snapshot of her diamond ring. She even edited her picture by putting the sparkle stickers around her ring. The image came with a caption 'call me Sister Yi Fei. I am going to be your sister-in-law muahahaha' with a devil emoticon at the end of her sentence.

To be honest, NaNa was startled by the revelation. Her gossiper mode came out. She went running to the living room with her phone to tell the shocking news to her parents.

"Mom, dad… Brother Chen proposed to his girlfriend without telling us first. He already…" Before NaNa could even finish her sentences, her parents shot her a knowing look as if the news was not shocking enough for them because they knew about it already.

"You knew?" NaNa couldn't believe that she was the last one to know. "How?"

"Your aunt called me a few hours ago lamenting on how her son did not care about her anymore. She went on and on about how she felt so left out because Chen didn't tell her about his proposal to Yi Fei. I had to talk to her for about an hour because of that" NaNa's mother told NaNa like it was not a big thing.

The turn of event exasperated NaNa. She wanted to walk out of the living room, but her father called her.

"Wu Chen is the one who got a fiancée today but why do you have a ring on your finger?" Her father seemed like a man who did not care about small details, but when it comes to his daughter, his eyes were as sharp as eagle eyes.

"This…" NaNa didn't know how to explain the ring to her parents.

"NaNa, I don't know who gave you the ring, but I don't want to see you hurt again. Last time, you got engaged with a guy we barely knew and look how it ended up between the two of you. We only want the best for you. You know that, right?" NaNa's father had some idea about the ring, but to confirm his suspicion, he needed NaNa to tell him who gave the ring to her.

NaNa nodded slowly. "I'm not going to be reckless this time. This is not an engagement ring. It's just a birthday present."

NaNa's father was curious to know who would give out a ring as a birthday gift. It was not even a plain silver ring or what.

"Tell me who that is" NaNa's father could be very intimidating if he wanted to. Seeing NaNa contemplated whether to tell her or not about the person behind the ring, NaNa's father doesn't like the guy already – whoever he is.

"Jun Liu" NaNa did not say much. Right after Jun Liu's name came out from her mouth, she dashed to her room, leaving her parents to talk amongst themselves.

It was not something that the parents expected. They expected a different man, a stranger who was not in their circle. The husband and wife did not talk for a long time. They were trying to process the whole information presented to them.

So this person called Jun Liu gave a not-so-plain ring to their daughter as a birthday gift, and this is the first time, their daughter invited that man to her birthday, and she specifically wrote down that young man's name in the invitation list.

"Jun Liu as in Chen's best friend? That cold guy Jun Liu?" The wife asked her husband.

"Maybe. Do you know any other youngster that goes by the name Jun Liu?" The husband asked the wife in return.

Both of them knew about Jun Liu because Wu Chen's parents will talk about him sometimes. They never worked with him directly; they only heard stories from Wu Chen's parents.

But they knew him, and they already met him in the dinner event for business purpose. That guy was cold and quiet. He is very different from NaNa. Would they ever be compatible with each other?

The husband and wife still feel like all of it were surreal. They didn't comment anything about the whole things because truthfully, they heard nothing but praise for Jun Liu. The only thing that was not so positive about Jun Liu would be his coldness and how ruthless he is in doing business because he follows after Wu Chen.

"Should we be aware of this? Last time, the lawyer…" NaNa's mother sighed deeply.

At the end of the conversation, the husband and wife decided to see how things will go first. They needed to observe the whole situation then only they could take any appropriate action.

NaNa stayed on her bed after she took a warm bath. She wanted to talk to Jun Liu, but when she remembered that Jun Liu didn't speak much, she opted for a chat message instead. NaNa kept on typing and deleting her messages when suddenly, her phone rang because of an incoming call.

The ID of the caller is Mr Someone-Like-You. NaNa coughed and practised saying 'hello' a few times so that she could use the sweetest tone to talk to Jun Liu. After a few tries, NaNa pressed the answer button.

"Hello…" NaNa talked by using the sweetest tone she could ever imagine. She thought that Jun Liu would melt at the sound of her soft voice but how wrong she was.

"Why do you sound like a dying dolphin?" The question was harsh; if it was a knife, it could cut a heart cleanly.

NaNa felt stupid. It was naïve of her to think that the naturally cold Jun Liu will suddenly turn to a lovey-dovey guy for her. She changed back to her usual voice.

"Why do you call me?" This time, NaNa expects nothing.

"You run off quickly. I forgot to tell you that I'm going back to City L tomorrow." There was a silence followed after the sentences. "Just so you know".

"Why?" NaNa asked.

NaNa and Yi Fei will go back to City L in another three days. Since Jun Liu went back the same day with them, she thought that he'd go back with them too.

"The apartment is ready. I need to sort some things" Jun Liu disliked having to explain himself, but he understands that he should at least tell his girlfriend about it.

"Can I hang out in your apartment next time?" NaNa blurted out her thought. It may sound weird though.

Jun Liu was quiet for a moment. NaNa thought that Jun Liu might weirdly take her words. She attempted to rectify the situation, but before she could do so, she heard a faint laugh from the other end of the conversation.

"Alright, but only hanging out though. Not doing PG stuff" From Jun Liu's voice, NaNa could hear the teasing laugh.

"Who wants to do PG stuff with you" NaNa hung up the phone after she said that.

Jun Liu is still Jun Liu after all. Boyfriend or not, he still has the sharp tongue. NaNa puffed her cheek.

"So annoying".
