Spooky

A blue book with an emerald embedded in the center was opened in front of a small red circle. On one side was black powder, another a weirdly shaped tooth of a snake.

Wolf's eye with two pupils

Pile of fairy wings

Pumpkin of Adora

The list went on as the small red circle was soon toppled with items that appeared out of nowhere.

One thing was for sure. This all originated from the man holding the book and the odd ring on his right hand.

Until he felt the items were enough he nodded to himself and grinned "According to the [Necronomicon] this should summon a powerful being."

Referring his book as the [Necronomicon] he opened it to a certain page filled with only weird inscriptions. No images were used as reference for what the man could expect.

Proceeding to chant the words on the page there was an incoherent echo that followed with a sinister aura gathering around the circle.

The man's hair started rising and the circle turned into a black hole that sucked all the weird items until eventually a blinding light emerged.

Closing his eyes, the circle had disappeared and instead a puff of smoke concealed a monster he has summoned.

"From what I have calculated this being should be well behaved. On the condition it is strong can I act without care...otherwise I can only sigh at my bad luck."

Waving his hand from side to side, the puff of smoke slowly dissipated to reveal a hideous monster.

A monster that was summoned from hell. Something that has committed numerous sins and will create a massacre that will be renowned for centuries.

This murderous monster was a .... Skeleton?

Standing at the height of approximately 1 meter ( 3.2 Foot) the skeleton waved his hand. The body was obviously not human... but if it was... then that would be a questionable human.

Two empty circles patches were located on the head and the jaw that a normal human had was gone. To replace that was a curved tooth at the very bottom of the head.

It was just a single row of makeshift teeth!

Reassuring himself he acknowledged "Maybe he has a hidden power."

The skeleton may have understood what the man said and so to respond the skeleton took a step forward but tripped on nothing.

Slipping, his skull went head first to the floor and a small crack appeared at the very top.

Trying to sulk the skeleton rubbed the area beneath his empty circles while the man couldn't help cheer the skeleton up.

"Hmmm, it's fine little fella."

Rubbing the crack with a gentle touch the man felt that this reminded himself of what he used to be when he was younger.

'A numb skull'

'Master always was a person who liked to get hot-headed. Tonight I should be able to steal the [Soul Stirring Herb] and finally get some answers from her'

Introducing himself, the man hoped that the skeleton would instead appreciate it's new found life than join him

"Little fella, I'm Kaito. I need to finish something tonight. You can't follow me so go your own way"

The man seemed to have teleported 20 meters in an instant as the skeleton was dumbstruck, unable to rebuke

Trying to chase after his master the skeleton ran and ran until he finally tripped. No matter how much he ran or chattered the man didn't turn back to the skeleton.

Running and running it was hopeless and the skeleton looked like a child as he waved his bone thin arms in the air.

Shaking his skull the skeleton picked up a stick and raised it in the air. A grim childish voice followed out of nowhere "I'll find you, master"

...

"Search him!"

Screaming at the top of their lungs the soldier thundered the streets and infiltrated every door they could find.

Panic ensued as one man denounced his subordinates"What do you mean you lost him?!?! He couldn't have gone far! The Duke will behead us if you mess around!"

An iron face shadowed the guards face, all armed with a common shield and sword it seemed as if they were a force unstoppable.

Their so called 'common sword' acted dominant, slicing through any door that refused to open and their 'common shield' pushed people aside, asserting its force.

...

A man draped in a black coat dashed through the roofs of the city. Unrestrained he continued to run using only his physical strength.

His face was hidden with a white mask and the two eye slits were empty. This was mainly due to a black blindfold covering his eyes beneath the mask.

Defying all sense of logic his hat stayed on his head without moving.

The black coat fluttered according to the wind's will and so did his long white ponytail style hair.

'I wonder what happened to that skeleton?'

Questioning the location of the skeleton, Kaito's mind wandered until he accidentally slipped from one of the tiles.

"Ahhhh, shiiii-"

Cut off, he fell directly onto a soldier from nowhere.

He originally held a chance of surviving since the guards wore heavy armor and couldn't climb onto the roofs without breaking a hole on the ceiling.

For once he felt he would escape from their sights but he had to make one mistake.

'Am I suddenly cursed by that skeleton'

Sighing he could only use Qi if he wanted to escape from here "I'm sorry."

The guards thought the thief gave up on the very spot since he was surrounded and announced his arrest "it's already too lat- "

The guard couldn't finish his sentence as he fell to the ground.

The guards that questioned why he suddenly stopped his question halfway did the same as him, fall to the ground.

The guards that saw their allies past out ran immediately hoping, to inform their superiors but Kaito wouldn't let them off easy.

Soon mountains of bodies surrounded him.

Having one common thing about all these corpses.

A small hole appeared through all of the guard's head. The work was done by a dozen or so needles that were barely visible to the sight of a human eye.

Kaito immediately retracted these needles with an invisible cord that radiated Qi.

Using his ring once more the corpses disappeared as well as the needles.

...

Taking a deep breath Kaito looked at the ant size city after running away for a distance he deemed safe from trouble.

Before he could check his condition a voice calmly spoke behind his back

"And where do you think you're going?"

Turning around to see who it was, a man stared down on Kaito.

In a condescending tone he declared his intent "If you manage to give me back the [Soul Stirring Herb] we can let bygone be bygones..."

Continuing, a sharp killing aura followed "...However if you try anything. Do not expect having an intact corpse."

"Why'd you even try? Your cultivation is quite a distance from mine so tell me why?"

Kaito took out a dagger to try and get a surprise attack off however the Duke had already predicted that.

Even so he got impaled by the dagger with his left hand being injured. At the cost of this injury Kaito got a punch to the stomach.

Coughing blood an iron scent roused Kaito back to reality and heard the stampede of troops behind him.

'Do I really have to use a forbidden technique...'

Kaito backed off from the Duke's advances and instead inched himself closer to the rushing army.

Kaito's plan was to first, take care of the army and then the Duke.

Meanwhile, the Duke was confused. His army couldn't have made it this far and from this thief's action this isn't his allies.

'Is someone trying to make a profit from our fight?'

Keeping his hand the Duke wanted to see what might happen before acting.

The army was what some would call... interesting.

The charging vanguard consisted of two entities. One was a horse that bore purple flames, replacing it's manes and red eyes that contrasted it's black fur.

On top of this beast that rushed fearlessly into battle would have to be an owner to match the status of this horse.

An elegant being that rode this tyrant was...a skeleton?

The short stature and the small crack on the head was all too familiar to Kaito `Little fella?' The Duke on the other hand was skeptical of the situation

'An undead army? Which Necromancer dares to summon these atrocities? In my presence, a foolish magician wants to profit out of our fight. Bastard'

As the small skeleton approached closer to Kaito the army behind him was revealed.

Directly behind the horse was a running ghoul. Dressed in a black suit his form was hidden due to how baggy his clothings were. The odd part was that this ghoul was wearing a pumpkin for a head.

To the side of the ghoul was a ghost. To be exact it was a blue spirit draped in a white bedsheet. There were two gaps for the eyes but it reflected a black empty void.

Leaping onto the ghoul's pumpkin a small rabbit sat on top of it. Wearing a skull, the right half of its face was covered. It's left eye was black while the other was red.

As if giving morale to the army the rabbit held a trumpet and blew into it.

"Doot"

"Doot"

Kaito questioned his ordeal while looking at the Duke for reassurance

'What type of ragtag unconventional monsters did I summon? Never has the [Necronomicon] mentioned this'

The Duke responded to the thief's questioning gaze as he thought

'What type of insane necromancer have I met? These monsters seem to be the rejects of his experiment'

But this was not the end of the undead army.

A giant moth flew above the undead. It's speed increased as it soon flew past the Duke and Kaito.

Their thoughts were in sync as they looked towards the direction the moth was flying to

'A lamp?'

A bright light was far from them but it attracted the moth.

The Duke felt a little thankful to the light as he feared facing a moth that big would mean fighting a losing battle.

"Enough, i'll finish this in a flash"

The Duke waved his hand to signal the beginning of the fight and Kaito responded by taking off his blindfold.

One black eye and the other a white eye stared at the Duke with a mystical force that contained a dreadful aura.

Before either one could throw a fist at the other the ghoul jumped on the Duke and restrained his limbs

"AGHH, unhand me. You vile creat-AAGGGHHHH"

A pained scream erupted within the area as Kaito couldn't imagine the torture the Duke was receiving from his undead army

'I just wanted a herb. How'd it get to this?'

Expecting to be greeted with a bloody sight he instead saw the rabbit parading with it's trumpet and a skeleton tickling the Duke.

"Doot, Doot, Doot"

"AGHHGAH, please sto- AGHGHHAHGAH"

"...What am I witnessing?"
