Chapter 90

"I am a space mage. " Aaron told Katrina.

Katrina was pleasantly shocked hearing that. That expalined a lot of questions she had. As to how he had travelled the grasslands and how they were unable to see him in their journey. A space mage. I lucky was she to encounter one in such situation.

Well she wasn't entirely lucky. She was in such a situation in the first place.

On the positive side of things, she won't have to walk much with Aaron being a space mage.

The sad part was that she won't have the comfort of the carriage. Or would she?

"Ummm... Will you be taking the carriage along?"

"No I don't think I will. Unless you know how to drive a carriage. "

The girl quickly shook her head implying she didn't know how to drive it.

"Well. If you don't want to walk, I have a suggestion. But I don't think you would like it. "

"What is it? " Katrina wondered what he would suggest. Surely he won't offer to carry her. He wouldn't would he?

Aaron pulled out his hover board from his ring and showed it to Katrina. It stood there floating in front of them.

"This is what I usually use to travel. It's good for a single person. But if you want to be on it, you would need to stick close to me. Are you ok with it? "

Normally Katrina wouldnt have minded being close to Aaron like that. But the situation now made her wary. What if he tried to take advantage of her?

She shook her head though. If he had such intentions, he would have acted on it already. Or he would act on it irrespective of how they travelled.

If she wanted his help to get out this placed, she would have to trust him eventually.

Aaron could see her going through a mental struggle. She finally agreed to his suggestion which surprised Aaron for a bit.

With all the preparation done, they were ready to leave.

Katrina felt a little weird though. It was the first time she was on something like a hover board.

She had seen a couple of floating vehicles before which were brought by visiting mages of higher Authority.

But such a compact and small vehicle, it was her first time seeing it.

And she was about to travel on it.

The other part she found a little uncomfortable was how she had to hold on to Aaron for support. There wasn't much space on the board and she was afraid of falling down.

Once Aaron started to move, the girl found the experience to be pretty amazing. It moved in a smooth way unlike the bumps in the carriage.

The feeling of air against her face was refreshing enough. As they travelled for a bit while she was slowly getting comfortable, Aaron opened a gate for them to travel.

Aaron soon found the girl was a total chatterbox. Once she got comfortable enough with Aaron and she started to feel better about the ordeal she just wouldnt stop talking.

Aaron who was used to quiet life felt he was in a different world altogether. It reminded him of earth. How his female friends were like during his university days.

Good thing he had enough patience in him to listen to her.

He came to know quite a bit about her though. She told him how she was found as a mage and how she was trained. How she was conned into a slave like contract and the whole incident with Diviere.

He also found that although the girl had magical talent, she wasnt well read. She lacked the resources when she was younger. Having a weak class meant no one really wanted her. That was the only reason she fell for the Jhonson family contract. She was so happy about getting a contract that she didn't even read it and just agreed.

This was one of the main difference between the two sides. On the other side, the mage association took care of young mages and provided magical education to them free of costs. Although their main motive was to recruit mages for the border, but they still ended up helping mages from small or no background.

Aaron didn't even need to ask a question, she said everything herself.

At night after dinner Aaron had to practically beg her to sleep since they would have to once again start their journey early morning.

She was insistent on asking about Aaron's life as well. Aaron told her a bit about his life with his parents. How his father had trained him since young. His teacher Mr. Anderson. He just skipped the part about the magical institute. He invented a fake mentor who guided him to be a mage. He stuck with the story of memory loss and how he ended up in the forbidden forest.

"Wow. You sure had your adventures. Too bad you can't remember most of it. Coming from the south to the forbidden forest must have been a journey for you."

"You joined the mage association. I would have too if they were willing. They outright rejected me after the series of stupid tests they had. "

"It's not my fault they had those really tough tests. " She made it sound like the tests were specially designed to be against her.

Aaron though understood. She had very little ability as a mage. The mage association didn't see any benifits signing her. She was at the end almost forced to join the Jhonson family.

It took Aaron three more days to come out of the grassland. The scenery slowly changed from the never ending grassland to a forest. From forest to a plain full of crops and from crops to a prosperous city.

"Having a space mage is surely fun. It took us almost 2 months to travel half way through the grassland. With you it took only three days for the remaining half. I am jealous of your ability Aaron. "

"Jealous or not, we have finally arrived to our destination. "

"Yes we have. " She said with a tinge of sadness. She actually had freedom for the last three days. But now she knew she would need to report to the Jhonson family again. Her days as a slave would start once again.

"Don't tell them about me in details. Just tell them you were saved by a travelling mage. " Aaron reminded her again. He didn't want to get involved much into the whole situation.

"Yes yes. I remember it Mr. Aaron Rosil. I wouldn't tell them about you. " Katrina said in a teasing tone.

"And don't tell them about what Diviere was doing to you either. They won't believe you over a direct descendant. "

Aaron told her. From what she told about the family Aaron could make out the situation.

If Katrina reported Diviere and Diviere showed up later and claimed that he didn't do any of those things, the Johnson family would surely believe Diviere.

It might worsen the situation for her and she might be even accused of making a false accusation.

Katrina was sad hearing it. But she knew Aaron was right.

Aaron left her near the entrance of the Jhonson family place and took leave.

As walked away, he knew he was going to miss the company of the chatterbox.
