Until she came to the past where these voices reappeared once more. 

In the unfamiliar world, Hui Lan must strive among the plots and schemes aimed at her. Along the way, she has two majestic assistants to guide her, Yue and Hun that had come from an even more ancient time period. No longer the well-behaved empress like before, Empress Hui Lan seeks to find justice in this messy palace and end the mission forced in her hands. Beneath the surface, an underground power seeks to pull her down like how they had driven Empress Hui Lin to the pit of fire. However, if her enemies kept secretly hidden in the dark, then she would build an entire empire of hers to bring them down.

The subtle change in his consort’s temperament had not escaped his incisive eyes. Emperor Shen Yang Long was well known for his iciness among his subjects, the surrounding kingdoms and his wives that were all arranged for different purposes. Big and small whispers were heard inside Hui Lan's head. Despite shaking her head, they didn't go away. Instead, it grew louder and when the voices were all spoken at the same time, she could hardly grasp a single sentence from it.

Her grip on the reigns grew tighter as she tried focusing her brain on something else, like her hands or the horsehair. She battled the sounds in her head alone, everyone else was busy getting onto their horses or helping their masters.

However, on each side of Hui Lan were two furry beasts that had their eyes on Hui Lan all while she was going through this lonely fight.

Seeing Hui Lan's soft brows become furrowed, Yue and Hun turned to look at each other.

They looked at each other in understanding before closing their eyes and channelling part of their energy to strengthen Hui Lan's surging powers. With this, they were giving some of their cultivation to Hui Lan so that she could control her own powers.
