Giving In?

The witch slowly releases Fig but he doesn't move. I push against Ryder and run to Fig dropping to my knees with shaky hands. Please be okay.. please.. I'm afraid to touch his little body but when I see his little chest moving I remember to breathe.. He's alive.. I make a silent vow to kill her first.

"Enough! Make it grow Syn.." Ryder says from behind me pulling me up and over to the plant. I kneel down to the soft soil and as soon as I feel my power I try to use it but the witch says "No, no little one. You can only use your power for the plant." I grit my teeth and look back to the ground as my mind races.

I don't know if this will work... but it's the only thing I can think of to buy us time. I move my hand over the soft soil. When I feel the seed I lower my hand placing it directly over the seed. I've never done anything like this before but I refuse to allow them to kill all the humans and I refuse to help them do it.

I reach for the seed with my power and feel it answer. I go deeper. Reaching for the very DNA of the seed and begin changing the very core. My head hurts from the effort and sweat starts to break out but I don't stop. I finally find what I'm looking for and quickly destroy it and before it completely dies I begin rebuilding it but now it will not release the poisonous toxins.

"What's taking so long?" The witch says walking straight up to me with impatience. I keep my eyes closed as I try to keep my focus on the plant. Ryder walks over to Fig and watches me without saying anything. Almost.. My hands shake as my back becomes covered in sweat. Done! I then begin pouring my power into the plant. I keep my excitement hidden as I watch the now harmless plant sprout from the soft ground.

Hello little one.. I say to myself but I'm surprised by the sheer amount of power it takes to grow as I continue dumping it into the plant. The plant grows larger by the second and I look up to see the Witch and Ryder watching with excitement. That's right.. keep watching the pretty little plant. I feel a wave of weakness wash over me that has my head spinning but I refuse to stop.
