Raise the White Flag!

Chapter 11: Edited

*Continuation of Flashback*

Let us go back to the fact that Scarlet was still holding on to Kevin's little junior in this messed-up scenario of Kevin holding on to her chin while both of them are intensely gazing at each other with a slight blush on and affectionate smiles.

But all Kevin thought about was:

The time was coming soon!

He couldn't help but impatiently look forward to the future. Obviously this was a very good start right off the bat. Upon thinking of that, there was no doubt that he was currently the happiest man alive.

The path of his thoughts made him realize just how important the woman beside him was. Even the words she uttered were like ancient music full of history in his ears. He treasured every word, every moan, every glare, every blush, and every smile that she nonchalantly gave without any ulterior motive at hand.

While looking at her as if she was the most delicate flower alive, Kevin tenderly uttered again the most precious word in his vocabulary, which was her name, "Scarlet."

He would never ever forget this name.

Meanwhile, Scarlet did not know how deep the importance her name was placed on. She only gently nodded in return, happy to make a new friend.

Seconds later...

"?" Huh? How long did she need to stay like this?

Several minutes later...

"..." Hello? Was he still there? She's beginning to have cheek cramps.

After seeing that the man beside her had not responded for quite some time, she soon got tired of the staring and smiling contest. She became impatient and used her free hand to grab his hand that was holding on to her chin.

"Aghh..."

However, just when she was about to pull his hand away, the wound on her two elbows made her subconsciously groan from the pain.

"Huh?" While furrowing her brows downward and slightly biting her lip, Scarlet felt the slight pain due to her bandaged skin grazing the soft mattress and feeling the cold breeze at the same time.

For her, a small injury like this was never even considered real pain.

It was just something irrelevant and unworthy of her time. Every time a wound would be inflicted upon her, it would not matter to her, because the pain in her heart was much greater than that.

Yet now that her heart was tenderly caressed and healed by her 'new friend,' the pain on her body heightened, making her feel the injury that was past forgotten.

Immediately, Kevin was brought back to reality.

[About time.]

Kevin immediately stood up from the bed and picked her up like a princess, making her subconsciously let go of her hold onto his manhood. He was too affected by her pain to even bother with his forgotten and angry hard rod.

[It's alright, Kevin junior. Get used to it.] A voice genuinely comforted his manhood.

He gently placed her down on the chair and then undid the bandage, cleaned the wound, and wrapped a new bandage with great concentration and secretly with a very dark expression.

Without Scarlet noticing, his expression instantly darkened even more upon the idea of someone hurting his beloved. The aura around him became menacing and was now filled with murderously high killing intent.

'Never again will she get hurt.' Kevin internally vowed with a grave expression.

Now that he was here, he'd never let her go. He pledged with his life.

Once he set his eyes on them, Kevin vowed to brutally kill them and leave nothing but ashes.

All Scarlet could see was his worried and concerned expression, thus making her oblivious towards his minor change. Even with her skills, she could not spot the killing intent for it took even less than a millisecond.

She also did not know of his plans to handle these 'matters' himself.

While Scarlet was mentally concentrating on easing up her own pain, Kevin asked her in an affectionate manner, "Sweetheart, does it hurt?"

Wait.

Why was he still calling her 'sweetheart?'

Forgetting the pain found on her elbows, Kevin's question made her ponder over whether he had heard her say her name or not.

She used all her efforts to glare at him, "My name is Scarlet, not 'sweetheart.'"

Scarlet did not like the nickname at all for it made her feel like the most delicate and fragile woman alive. She was a strong woman, alright!

She didn't know why but thinking about whether he had also used the same endearing nickname to other people or not also made her feel like she had just eaten vinegar. Was this sour feeling also part of having friends?

What she didn't know was that Kevin never called anyone by names, except for a few relevant people, like his twin Kyle. He also never called anyone by endearing nicknames so it was his first time calling someone, 'Sweetheart.'

Meanwhile, Kevin's rose-tinted filter only made him see the most beautiful, delicate, and fragile woman alive displaying a very adorable glare. From his point of view, she was the only one suitable for the title, 'Sweetheart.'

His only Sweet Heart.

Kevin turned a blind eye to her adorable retort and affectionately replied back with a complicated gaze more intense than before, "No can do, Sweetheart. Because you're... special."

[Damn moves, boy. You finally use that IQ, huh?] A voice echoed with pride.

Too bad no one can hear it. Yet.

Kevin thought that if he called her, 'Scarlet,' he would be no different from the others. What he didn't know was that Scarlet had never once stated her name to anyone other than him, aside from class introductions of course. She never had any friends, family, or other people who would casually call her by name.

Fortunately, Kevin never knew this fact. If he did, imagine how many times he'd say, 'Scarlet.'

"... Special?" Scarlet innocently scrunched up her brows and muttered like she was not really asking him but herself.

She was special? So he called her in a special way?

She tried recalling more information about friendship from the movies she past watched and pondered, 'Do friends have a special way to call each other? Oh yeah, it seems like it. But I've never heard 'sweetheart' being used before.'

Since her mother never took part in any romantic movies, Scarlet was left utterly clueless on the fact that 'Sweetheart' was a term of endearment used by lovers.

So Scarlet became ashamed of her limited knowledge about friendship and thought that Kevin had a point. It was basic for friends to have a special way to call each other. She somehow felt like she failed as a friend.

But still...

She didn't know why but "Sweetheart" made her feel embarrassed.

She can't get used to it. That's for sure.

[At least your instincts know the meaning.]

She felt guilty for her inconsiderate remark and bashfully replied, "Use my name, please."

She looked up and stared at him.

Badump. Badump.

The moment he saw that pleading look in her eyes, Kevin's heart raced towards the finish line!

Seconds later...

His heart was about to explode!

30 seconds later...

This was definitely not a fair game! Quick! Raise the white flag! White flag!

A minute later...

He felt like he was about to see heaven.

Oy! Raise the white flag! Do you want your Sweetheart to call an ambulance?! Quick! Raise it!

"Sigh... Alright." Kevin surrendered and reluctantly raised the white flag.

[That's what you get for using "puppy eyes" on her.] It smirked.

After experiencing his Sweetheart's deadly puppy eyes first-hand, Kevin couldn't help but succumb to her plea. He sadly gave up his affectionate form of address towards her...

By mouth only.

Somehow, Kevin foresaw a future of raising a million white flags which made him have mixed feelings. He looked at Scarlet and figured that she was doing a victory dance in her brain based on her brilliant aura and hidden smile which, for him, was plainly written on her face.

"Heh." Kevin smirked.

She was really bad at hiding her emotions. Good. This way, she can only be honest with him. If it was her, he was willing to raise even a billion white flags so long as it could make her feel happy.

He just thought of raising a billion flags, huh?

Well, it didn't matter. He could always negotiate.

While tenderly cleaning her wound like she was a fragile piece of rose-tinted glass, Kevin replied with a handsome and loving smile, "Since I can't use Sweetheart, I will make a nickname for you then. Using your name, Scarlet."
