A Coincidental Encounter?

After some time, Yilla opened her mouth.

"Uhmm… Mingzhi may come off as rude, but she's only doing things to be of use to you, husband."

"I know," Davis smiled at her, "but it is better than getting herself killed over something she doesn't need to bother with. I'm happy she's using her wits to help me, but it is not needed in a case that's so dangerous to deal with using our current capabilities, and I would rather she enjoy the expensive meal we bought."

"May I ask why it is not needed? Everyone is worried for you." Yilla probed hesitantly.

"Yilla, there's no need to be so formal. Just speak as freely as Mingzhi does."

Hearing Davis's words, Yilla slightly nodded and made herself comfortable.

"Have you really given up on saving those three?"

She could only imagine how offensive these words were to a powerful man and to a man who cared about his friends as though they were brothers. She did understand that they were like sworn brothers.
