The Second Phase

When they finally arrived in the guest room, Jaime was going to say something before she was suddenly stopped by Linri. He signalled her to be quiet. Jaime was taken back. Honestly at this point, if Linri said there was a sound-sensitive monster living in this room she wouldn't even doubt it and just say 'f*ck it' and go out in the woods to sleep.

Linri typed something in his phone and handed it to Jaime.

'Werewolf=Acute hearing. Don't talk. We just met today. No Autumnfall'

Reading that Jaime finally understood why he stopped her. Still, she could not help but feel like living in this house was like a ticking time bomb. Just yesterday she had a normal life. Now she was under the same roof with a goddamn Werewolf! Wait! Didn't Kasaix said they had bloodlust? What if he suddenly went in rage and decided to kill her?

This time it was Jaime's turn to type in the phone and she handed it back to Linri quickly.

'Werewolf bloodlust danger?'

Linri seemed like he was thinking before typing.

'No?' before waiting for her reply he immediately turned back and left the room.

"Anyway, you can see where everything is. Goodnight!" so Linri left just like that, leaving behind a dazed Jaime.

What did he mean by No? Why was there a question mark? You are a god damn question mark. Your whole family is a question mark you effing weirdo! She was extremely upset with him but also she was a little bit of scared. Arkady wouldn't do anything to her right. Right? RIGHT?!

That night Jaime was not able to get a good night sleep just because of the goddamn question mark Linri put at the end of his sentence. Whenever she would try to sleep, she would see huge glowing red eyes and she would be jolted awake.

Despite that, the morning arrived just like any other day.

When Linri got up and took his shower he could already hear voices downstairs. It seemed like his parents had already started the breakfast. After putting on Linri's iconic black shirt and pants he also made his way downstairs and saw his parents and Jaime having a hefty breakfast. Jaime had black circles around her eyes. It seemed like she was still disturbed over his harmless joke. I guess it was reasonable? I mean it was just a little joke, she did not have to be scared like a little kid?

"Good morning" said Linri while yawning and pulled a chair to sit down. He was sitting in front of his father while Jaime was right next to him.

"Oh yeah, Jaime now that I think about it. I don't think I got your number last night" said Linri casually.

"Linri? Don't tell me you are trying to pick me up?" said Jaime playfully with a smug look on her face. She wanted to get back at Linri for his horrible joke last night and possibly embarrass him in front of his parents. At least she thought it was a joke. Yep definitely a joke. Hahaha...

"What's wrong with me trying to pick up my future girlfriend?" Linri said sarcastically. The thing was it didn't sound sarcastic at all. Immediately the kitchen turned quiet. It sounded like his mother dropped something but Linri couldn't see it clearly since she was washing the dishes in front of the sink.

Arkady's jaw was dropped and thinking 'Damn that was smooth'.

At the same time, Lyra was thinking 'I guess we have to discipline him a little. If he is like this with every girl in the city it's not gonna take long before this little monster creates a harem. No, I can't let my son do such a despicable thing!' P.S Kitsune believed in monogamy. They would only fall in love once and they would love that person for eternity - courtesy of Kasaix.

Being the subject of the question Jaime became as red as a beet. This whole thing had blown up at her face and she remembered that in the game Jaime and Linri were a couple. So she was thinking that they might also become one in the future. Thinking how Linri comforted her last night and got beaten up for her, she thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to date him if she had to. Yep, she definitely would not date such a rascal if he did not do such a gentlemanly thing. What she was failing to account for, however, was the fact that since they had already dated in the game it meant that in this world they already had some sort of natural attraction towards each other. Basically, Linri was Jaime's type. It was as simple as that.

" I wo-wouldn't mind dating you, I-I guess" said Jaime. She was so embarrassed that she wanted the ground to swallow her up. Mind you, before transmigrating she was somewhat of a shy girl, so it took a lot of courage for her to say those words.

At that moment Linri was spreading some jelly to his toast so he did not see neither his father's nor Jaime's reaction. He had honestly thought that they were joking around. He did not have a low EQ but how could he expect that a girl she only met IRL once would say something like that seriously. He had seriously underestimated the effects of the 'suspension bridge effect'.

For those who are wondering, the suspension bridge effect is a natural phenomenon seen among all mammal species. Basically when mammals feel like their life is threatened all of them would feel the urge to mate and give birth to their descendants to continue their lineage after their death. In humans, this natural phenomenon takes a little bit of a different guise. What happens is that when two members of the opposite sex are in a life-threatening situation, they would feel attraction towards their counterpart even if they did not have any such thoughts beforehand. Due to this event unlikely couples who wouldn't even look at each normally might be born. Now think about what would happen if they were already attracted to each other before the said event. It would be as if their hormones were on hyper-drive.

Now if you were to ask how Jaime was in a life-threatening situation, she transmigrated into a foreign world where she had no family nor friends and Linri magically appeared before her and he was her only hope of returning back to her world. Enough said!

"Nah, I'll pass. I wouldn't date you." instantly the temperature in the room dropped by five degrees. What he meant to say was, they didn't have to date just because Jaime and Linri dated in the game. He also had a girlfriend back home and he had no intention of cheating on her. He was not sure but Spark should also be aware of that. Right?

"What do you mean?" Jaime's voice was colder than the North pole. Finally, Linri noticed something was wrong but he did not have any idea about what that was. He personally thought that his words were pretty clear.

"Exactly what it sounds like" Linri had unintentionally signed his own death warrant. Since they can not talk about Autumnfall he thought Jaime would get the cue by now. He couldn't be any more wrong.

At that moment, Jaime was having an unspeakable urge to hit this insensitive guy sitting right next to her like nothing happened. If he wanted to reject her couldn't he have done it in a more gentlemanly way? Why did he have to be so blunt? Just when she was thinking whether she should really hit him or not she felt a tingling sensation from her hand. When she looked, she saw that her hand was already clenched to a fist and Linri was rubbing the back of his head as if it hurt. Did she just hit him?

Jaime was shocked as she did not know what just happened. She was only thinking about hitting him and she had already done that unconsciously. Jaime was a body practitioner. Her attributes were 3x superior agility and 2x exceptional speed. So it did not even take her a second before her first hit Linri.

"I-I'm sorry. I did not mean to. I-I .. Let me get the first aid kit" and Jaime stormed off from the kitchen. She felt like if she stayed for one more second she would burst into tears.

Linri was as shocked as Jaime. Before he could react she had already left the room and he was left with a bleeding nose. He could not understand why she would hit him suddenly. It was only a joke. Was there any need to take it so seriously? To top it off, did she have to hit him so hard that his head would bounce off the fucking table?

"Dad? Something tells me that if it goes on like this I won't survive for long in this household." He gave his father a pitiful look like he was wronged for no reason.

"Yeah. I can see that" Despite what he said Arkady did not have any intention to get involved in this matter. This little rascal deserved it. Just now he was complimenting him for his flirting skills but he screwed up big time in the next second.

"Dad, you served in the military right? Is there anything and I mean ANYTHING you can teach me? If not, I think I am gonna enrol in a Self-Defence course. Just in these two days, I was beaten up more than I had been in my whole life. I am honestly scared for my life" Linri literally begged his father. Not figuratively, he literally begged Arkady. If he were to decline, he was ready to get on his knees.

Seeing his son like that, Arkady thought it might be a good time to teach him some family martial arts. They had powerful enemies and it wouldn't hurt for Linri to know some basic Self-Defence. Also, the population of female monsters in the house had doubled. He could barely contend with one himself so how could he expect any help from this weak little rascal. If the men inside the house got stronger they might have a better chance. Just like what they say divided we fall, united we stand!

"Fine I can teach you some basic stuff every day after breakfast" said Arkady. Actually, he was thinking that even if Linri refused he was going to force him. Just like Linri was scared for himself, Arkady had started to worry for his safety too. If worst comes to worst he can just throw in this little guy to those female monsters and escape on his own. The stronger Linri was the more time Arkady had to escape.
