After sending both of them off, I decided it was a good time to investigate where this key fob would lead me. I bid my goodbyes to the dedicated movers who were still focused on moving my place and walked to the waiting area where two elevators are located. I pressed the up button, hoping I don't get into an elevator with people in order to test this key fob. It took the left elevator no time to arrive, and as the door finally opened it was empty to my sheer luck.
I walked inside and I turned around to face the elevator panels, observing where the key fob would fit in this scenario. Would it be okay if I didn't press any buttons so that this elevator wouldn't have to move while I figure this out? I wondered to myself, perhaps that might be a bit bothersome for those that may need the elevator.
"Let's see here," I said to myself as I leaned in closer on the panels.
There were multiple buttons filled next to both sides of the elevator door. All thirty-four numbered floor buttons were present on both sides, along with the open and close buttons among the emergency assistance and ring buttons. But none of those buttons were what I was looking for, because I had no use for any of these buttons anyway. I looked closely once again, it also couldn't have been the fire department operation keyholes, because the key I possess was not an actual key, but a key fob.
I sighed deeply, why would Hayden give me something and nothing bother to explain too much about it? I'm not a mind reader after all, and he's playing a game that I clearly want no part in, but I have to participate because I owe him more than I can repay.
"Think, Sienna," I said to myself again, still staring directly at the operating panels closely.
The elevator doors have closed shut by the time I realized, and I was stuck in an elevator because I couldn't figure out how to operate it for god's sakes. Could it have been the card reader machine that I used while I was a janitor? But that wouldn't make sense, because the key fob is not a card. Since a key fob is mainly used to be scanned, it must correspond to a scanner of some kind, I deducted.
I continue to observe and stare at the panel, now looking for a scanner instead of a mere button. I located a pair of small black square located on both sides of the panel, it was tucked away at the top corner, right below to the fire department operations panel at the very top. Both squares had a small red light on it, indicating that it was probably locked. I sighed, this was clearly the key fob scanner I was looking for this whole time.
What was I thinking earlier? I scolded myself because I clearly wasn't thinking. I should have known that way before I stepped into the elevator. Sighing once more, I approached the key fob and hovered it closely to the scanner. To my exact expectations, both of the small lighting located on the scanner had turned green.
But nothing else happened, the elevator didn't start moving, and other than the lighting changing to green, nothing had really happened afterward.
"What now?" I cried lightly in disappointment, looking at the panel again, who seem to still remain unlocked but non-responsive.
After scanning both sides of the panel even though I know they are literally the same, I noticed that there was a slight difference than before, only two buttons at the top had now been highlighted. The thirty-fourth floor on both the left and right panel had a back ring-shaped light behind the button, which was different than the fully lighted buttons when a button is pressed.
"Bastard," I cursed, now fully understanding what Hayden meant by a resting place. He wanted me to wait in his place and had thought of giving me his keys and not letting me know how to use it was funny. In fact, he was probably at his place right now just timing how long it's taken me to figure it out.
I unwillingly pressed the thirty-fourth button, and both of the corresponding buttons had now been fully lit in front of me. The elevator had immediately responded and began to move upwards, taking me to Hayden's place. I'm probably going to scold him, I thought to myself as I fumed over the fact that he thinks this is remotely funny.
It didn't take long before the elevator door had opened back to where I first really met Hayden. The place hadn't changed much since I came back, but Hayden was not seen at my view from inside the elevator. I stepped out of the elevator frustratedly and looked around, and he was still nowhere to be found.
"Where the fuck is he?" I asked myself quietly as I walked around the giant floor. I checked the living space, the kitchen, the bathroom even to see if someone might be inside, but there was no one else. The last place I haven't checked yet was upstairs, a place that I haven't really bothered to visit because Hayden never really told me what was even upstairs in the first place. However, I wasn't in the mood to negotiate with myself about whether I should go upstairs or not. I was just going to do it regardless of what anyone thinks about it since Hayden invited me up here, he shouldn't mind that I can go wherever I wanted in at his place.
I walked up the spiral stairs located next to the elevators that stood in the center of the entire floor. I knew that the second floor to his place was of similar size as the first floor because there was no indication that upstairs would be any smaller as he owned not one, but two floors to this residence. He's so stinking rich that the elevator doesn't even let people have the option of getting to the thirty-fifth floor, because it's solely owned and accessed by himself who is probably also the only one who has access to the thirty-fourth floor, asides from me and housekeepers. As I climbed to the top of the staircase, I emersed myself with bright natural sunlight shining upon me. Slightly looking up while covering the direct sunlight to protect my eyes, I saw something truly extraordinary.
The entire ceiling and walls consisted of thick glass, the place almost looked like a greenhouse, but a much fancier and much-protected greenhouse minus the nature aspect. There were fancy furniture and tables all across the room, and several doors leading to other rooms, presumably bedrooms and whatnot. There was a glass door in the distance that leads to the outside, presumably where maintenance workers probably have access to through service elevators and stairs. However, most of the space was entirely transparent to the world, and it was something that I left me speechless and in awe.
"Wow," I said to myself, impressed with the place. How come Hayden never bothered to show me around before?
I continued to remain impressed over this structure before me and browsed around out of sheer curiosity. Downstairs was already impressive enough and brightly lit for sure, but this was on an entirely different level. Hayden Whitehall is practically living in a magical place and nobody even knew about it which was unfathomable.
Nevertheless, I naturally wandered towards the doors that I have yet to discover.

A/N: Thanks so much for the feedback everyone, I've decided I'll be moving forward with the mature content idea. However, since a girl's gotta pay bills and I'm thinking of better ways to bring my readers together and closer to me, I'll probably be rolling out a Patreon page where there will be extra content and bonus stuff asides from the power ranking incentives. This may include mature chapters as well, but it's not to say I won't release mature chapters for free, I'll give out one or two mature chapters as a sample but I'm hoping everyone can support me on Patreon if you can, thanks so much for supporting me so far!!! I love you all ❤️
