Upgrades

Soda cans were littered all over the floor. Wrappers from snacks were piled up near the trash can. A young Hispanic man yawned and stretched his hands to shake off his drowsiness. It was Sunday night, Michael had stayed up all weekend working on Capos. He had been using the new library he got and developing future expansions.

The new library was simply too amazing; there were a plethora of things he could use to improve the game. He ended up making expansions for the next two years. Every month there would be an update to the game introducing new lands, drugs, and new NPCs.

Michael finished up his work and turned to his room. It looked pitiful but the scene reminded him of his otaku days in high school. He had come a long way since then but old habits die hard. Michael cleaned up his room and started meditating. He felt like he was really close to breaking into supreme rank recently. He quickly checked his stats.

Name: Michael Rodriguez

Strength: 8.9

Intelligence: 9.1

Stamina: 8.8

Agility: 8.8

Status: Healthy

Credits: 302,530,000

Michael felt like he would probably need one more month before all his stats reached 9.0 letting him break into the supreme tier. He had transferred money into the system but had not upgraded any skills yet. He could not really make up his mind and decide which skills to upgrade. Furthermore, once he reached the supreme tier he would unlock more skills. Therefore he was saving up money for them.

He had been investing for the past three months and had grown his 650 million dollars into nearly a billion. After taking out nearly 300 million he still had 700 million dollars in his fund. Honestly, Michael felt like it was going to be a long time before his company makes as much money as him.

After some contemplation, Michael decided to upgrade some skills anyways. There was no point in saving up for the future. He could make more money then; he needed to upgrade his skills now to increase his survival skills.

[ Congratulations on upgrading skills:

Advanced Regeneration (100 million credits): Greatly accelerates your healing speed. Rapidly heals damaged organs and regrows broken bones.

Advanced Body Armoring (100 million credits): Toughens up your body making it resistant to most caliber of bullets.

Intermediate Temperature tolerance (10 million credits): You will be able to handle extreme temperatures much better. New tolerance level -50 to 150 Degree Fahrenheit ( -45 to 65-degree Celcius.)

Deducting 210,000,000 credits. Remaining Credits: 92,530,000 ]

Michael quickly went to sleep and let the system make the changes to his body. He woke up two hours later feeling refreshed. He was officially bulletproof now; he could even regrow bones instantly and regrow his major organs. He was not arrogant but he could confidently handle any sort of combat situation that he encountered.

The most intriguing skill was his temperature tolerance skill. Honestly, just the basic level of the skill covered the temperatures in all the habitable cities. So why would he still need a higher tolerance? Michael knew that the system was straightforward and would not try to cheat him with unnecessary skills; in fact, it discounted combat skills because they were necessary for survival.

The temperature skill must be useful in the future; either way, Michael did not linger on the topic for too long. Even if it was not useful, he would not feel bad about losing 10 million dollars. Next, he decided to upgrade his inventory. There were several upgrades he could get for his inventory.

[ Congratulations on upgrading inventory:

Folders ( 10 million credits): Allows host to create folders in the inventory to organize the goods. Can be labeled and organized in different ways.

One Sub-dimension ( 20 million credits): A single sub-dimension that is within the inventory. The dimension will be isolated from the rest of the inventory and anything that occurs inside will not affect the main inventory.

Auto-sorting ( 10 million credits): Will automatically sort any object placed in inventory to the matching folder. Can be toggled on or off.

Intermediate Remote Collection ( 50 million credits): Allows host to remotely absorb all objects that meet the qualifications from one mile away. Must be able to visually identify the entire object and track it.

Deducting 90,000,000 credits. Remaining Credits: 2,530,000 ]

Michael had been meaning to upgrade his inventory for quite a while. The folders and auto-sorting was a necessity because his inventory was getting cluttered. The sub-dimension was something he had been thinking about for quite a long time. Right now he was bulletproof; but he would still be hurt from grenades, bombs, and missiles. If someone throws a grenade at him, with remote collection, he could absorb it into the sub-dimension. This way his valuables in the inventory would not be affected by the explosion.

There were still many weapons that could threaten Michael. The description for remote collection specifically said that he must be able to identify the object and track it with his eyes. Most modern missiles were classified as BVR; meaning they were Beyond Visual Range and could not be tracked by human eyes.

Michael did not intend to aggravate a government military force and cause a missile crisis. However, in the process of establishing an empire, he could very well attract some air strikes. He did not think the modern day countries would just sit by and let him build an empire.

Michael sighed and wished Truck-Kun had appeared and sent him to a more primitive world. Then it would have been much easier to build an empire. Unfortunately, Truck-Kun was nowhere to be seen.

Michael spent the next hour making folders and organizing his inventory. He turned auto-sorting on and watched as his stuff get sorted into the appropriate folders. The system was honestly amazing. He still thinks that the near infinite inventory was the greatest cheat given by the system.

He checked the time and noticed it was 2 am; he needed to go to the office tomorrow and introduce the expansions to the team. Michael quickly went back to sleep while looking forward to the next week.
