His Mother

Luca was researching what the world could see about Jonas Jones and make use of it if needed. However, Noah brought up a topic out of nowhere, but it was something Luca didn't mind talking about. It's just that he was not as knowledgeable about it.

"Why are you asking about Chroma's coven?"

"I heard that the Connors were involved in it. I just thought we should be ready to support the other agents that might run into them in Mrs. Connor's case."

Luca stared at Noah and then keyed in a message to Theresa to let her know about this. "This is a very important piece of information, Noah. It will be dangerous if they went in without knowing that witches could be involved…

"Then again, Chroma's coven is already disbanded based on what I have heard." Luca hummed. He wanted to question their involvement, but he remembered that Randy Connor was once a witch of Satan. "Chroma's coven is also made of witches of Satan, but they are said to be more aggressive than Satans coven. Most of their witches were top-notch, and all of them had reached level seven.

"It was even said that their leader during their prime was considered a level nine.

"However, no one knew what caused their downfall. All that was reported was that their Supreme died in the rising, along with most of them. They said that only nine or eight of them survived." Luca then turned to Noah. "If Randy Connor was one of these people, then… how could Bomberman end up killing him?"

Noah only shrugged. "I don't know, but based on what's happening. Perhaps a level seven or eight demon helped him deal with Randy Connor while Bomberman was only in charge of hiding the deed. Else, why would he even escape from the building before it exploded?"

Luca then nodded before looking at the material he was reviewing. "Connor Holdings relocated to another building after the explosion from last year. We might have to find a way inside tomorrow. This Jonas Jones was rumored to be staying as a resident in the company building."

Noah then frowned. It was really weird for a top dog to camp in their own company. It couldn't be them being so drowned in work since they were a top dog. In the old Connor Holdings, they had a little saying: when someone couldn't go home because of overtime, they're either a slave or the CEO.

The witch only sighed. Things had changed ever since Thomas handled the company. Perhaps things would be a lot more different from what he remembered. Thinking about it made him think of Luca…

"SCC gave you another mission… then that means you're not going to get deported, right?"

"…about that…" Luca heaved a deep sigh, bringing his arms down and even unintentionally trying to be cuddly with Noah. He lied down and actually ended up on Noah's lap. "You wouldn't believe what Theresa told me…

"I went to ask Rebecca if I could speak with Mr. Cicero to check in with things, but she only patched me to Theresa. Then, Theresa told me this: Mr. Cicero decided to exercise his right to decline the Order's request of pulling me out. As the recipient of their aid in the contract both parties had signed, SCC had the choice to determine the factor of danger an agent was in.

"As I was not in imminent danger, SCC refused to sign an agreement to terminate my outsourced help as the guard sent over by the Order. Moreover, I willingly agreed to become an agent of SCC, thus waiving my position in the Order for a while. The Order had already lost the jurisdiction over me the moment I signed a contract with SCC."

Luca then scratched his head in frustration. "Alessa also called me and spoke of how upset Father was with Mr. Cicero's intervention.

"Though I'm happy that I can stay, I'm still bothered by how it was dealt with. It felt like Mr. Cicero just turned his nose up at my father and slapped him with a piece of paper."

"Welcome to the world of business…" Noah only snorted, petting the man on his lap. "Then, I guess I wouldn't be sad anymore. We should probably think of a way to—"

Growl. Luca then held onto his tummy. "I, uh… the White Magi went on a hunt to scare off level six and seven demons in the outskirts, and I helped them out a little. I also had to exorcise a few people who fell victim to possessions. It was a rather hard half-day for me…

"I'm hungry.

"What about you, Noah? Did you get to see who you were looking for earlier?"

Noah couldn't answer. He was feeling guilty; how could he tell Luca that he just lugged the day away with his auntie and that they even ate at a fancy four-star restaurant? Only a smile curled Noah's lips.

"I'll cook something for you then."

Aside from planning and receiving intel from SCC, Noah and Luca continued along their day like they were normal citizens. At night, Luca had taken his shower before sleeping. When he walked into the room, the beds were still pushed against each other, but Noah was already a mole rat deep beneath his soil of a blanket.

Luca was slightly disappointed, but he figured they would be having a mission tomorrow morning. He only dried his hair some more and slept in a shirt and his underwear. Lying on his side of the bed, Luca kept on glancing in Noah's direction as if wishing for him to react.

In the end, nothing came as a surprise.

The hunter turned his head away and closed his eyes to sleep. The cold didn't bother him for a while, but he felt fabric was coating his legs. He popped an eye open and saw that the blanket was being shared with him. Luca then turned to his side to see Noah scooting closer.

A hand flew to his face as if preventing him from talking.

He then had Noah squeeze next to him, even got his arm under his neck. Luca then chuckled. "Are you cold? Do you want to turn up the AC?"

"No, I already have you."

"Okay." Luca then snuck a kiss on Noah's head before he resumed sleeping.

Noah's arm snuck around Luca's waist and remained there as if holding onto him lightly. The witch's breathing then began to slow down as he went back to sleep. It was good that he wasn't feeling the side effects of the soul devour process anymore. Then again, as long as he fought with strong demons in the future, he was bound to suffer.

At another place, Richard smashed a glass against the wall as he threw it in rage. As the glass flew, the server actually walked in the room, the glass barely missing the side of his face. However, he didn't seem to be fazed.

Carlos rolled his eyes at the man's behavior. "Ricky dear, don't keep on smashing glasses. You can buy them all, but I can't keep on waiting for the purchase to get through. Before you know it, you'll be drinking from a bowl."

Richard glared at the server before leaning against the seat of his private room. He was only there alone with his bottle of vodka. The man then roughly scratched his head and raked his hand through his hair. "I thought you said you struck gold and will be leaving this hellhole"

"Yes, yes, but I figured I can't leave my birdies in your rough hands. Who knows how fast you can pull out all their feathers?" Carlos shook his head and sat next to him. "Tell me, tell me, what's this about now? The last time it's about your mother. Two months ago, it was about your mother."

"Hahaha! No, no, don't worry, it's about my mother now…" Richard laughed out, entertaining himself with a silly joke like his brain had officially left the room.

"Wow, that old lady of yours really needed to like… chill."

Richard grabbed the bottle and finished the content before sighing loudly. "She got kidnapped. Chill… is the worst I want her to do."

Carlos was shocked. He was about to pop open another bottle to drink for himself, but he was stopped midway. However, he still opened the bottle of vodka for Richard. "How are you not puking your guts out?"

The man, who was now spreading on the couch and had his suit jacket and necktie off, received the bottle and spoke before getting another mouthful, "I already did."

Before he could pour the contents on his mouth, Carlos grabbed the bottle and took it away. "No, nuh-uh, hon. You have to drink more water and eat something first…" The server actually arrived with a pitcher of water and bowl of fruits. "Have this."

"I don't need that."

"Shhh, baby, I doubt that." Carlos ended up grabbing Richard's face and stuffing the peeled orange slice inside his mouth. He even held it close in case Richard spat it out. "I'll ask around and see if we could get a clue.

"Right now, things are very, very… it's totally not a good time." Carlos sighed as he kept on hand-feeding oranges to Richard. "Big Boss is furious because Porter got sacked. I wonder who would have done so…

"Not to mention that I think I have talked to them at one point…"

Richard then began licking the fingers giving him the orange. Carlos then laughed out. "How unfair. I listen to you; you don't do the same."

The rich heir only snorted before grabbing Carlos's hand and started licking him from the wrist to the underside of the elbow. "Why? Am I paid to listen to you?"

Carlos then grabbed Richard's chin and smirked as he forced the latter to face him. "Oh, yeah… about what I am getting paid for… wanna get your money's value?"
