On the Earth's orbit, an octopus shaped space station is standing by above Krisna kingdom. On it's body, a word OBI and Eldia's flag can be seen. Inside it, a crew of eight were in charge to keep the station up and running.
Yesterday, they were ordered to move the station toward Krisna kingdom and ready the station's main weaponary. Few hours after that, a target coordinate have been given to them by Al, it is the city of Toul. At last, all they need to do is wait for the drop order.
Inside Alexander's war room, Al, Emma, Alexander and Elza are watching the city of Toul through OBI's orbital camera. They can see that the last osprey had just take off, and already outside the blast zone.
When Al got the 'all clear' news, he then gave the drop order button to Alexander. "It's now in your hand, king Alexander. If you push this button, the city of Toul will be completely destroyed along side all of the enemies that in the blast radius."
Without"My kingdom is already at war for far too long. I have lost many city including it's people. To lost an empty city in exchange of destroying one of Sistine's giant army, I'll do it gladly." Alexander said it with full determination, and then push the button.
After Alexander push the button, the OBI space station then automaticly drop a tungsten rod toward the intended target. The tungsten rods were 10 m in length by 0.5 m in diameter. When it hit, it had the destructive power equivalent of a small nuclear warhead, but without the fear of radiation. When the rod enter the planet's atmosphere, the gravity will made the rod travel at the speed of around Mach 10, reaching the target in seconds.
But before that...
Commander Vanesa POV. Half an hour before the drop.
"Say that again...."
"Ma'am, there are no people inside the city, not a soul, not even a pet nor cattles, or even dead bodies."
"Are you telling me, even though we lost a third of our army, not only they manage to escape, we didn't manage to kill even a single one of them!?"
"Yes ma'am."
"This is a disaster. If this comes out, I will be a laughing stock back home. And worse of all, we can't even stock up provisions to continue our jurney!!"
"Actualy ma'am, we found most of the food were still here. They didn't even poison the water. The only thing missing were the cattles."
"What!? Are you sure?"
"We are currently double check, but we are sure none of the food and water were given poison. We even taste them."
"That's strange. Why would they leave the foods behind? Were those flying machine realy that fast for them to not needing food? But even so, for them to not even poison the foods and waters."
"Maybe they were in a hurry to escape, they didn't have time to poison the food and water."
Suddenly Jaques gave his deduction from behind me. It's a sound deduction. We're marching at a unbelievable speed for an army of this size. Also there are no river near here, so they made many wells. If there is a river, they would only need to poison river's upstream, making the whole river's downstream dangerous. So for them to even try to poison all the food and wells in this large city, the amount of poison needed is no joke. But even with all that, I still have a bad feeling about this.
"What captain Jaques said might be true. There are more than fifty wells in this city. But we do found that four of them were poisoned."
"I guess that's true. They do try to poison us but failed because our speed. Anyway, this is a good news for us. Stock up provisions for the next march, and grab some food for me and the other officers. You uruk-kai can eat the rest."
"Yes ma'am."
The uruk-kai then jump out of our oliphant, and began giving order to his men. "Oy you lot! Let's go!"
With that, I then order the coachman to move. "Rider, head toward the Vicount's house. It's the fancy house on top of the hill."
"Yes ma'am."
The coachman then blow a horn trumpet to order the oliphant to move. In just five minutes, we arrived at the Vicount Jamal's house. Me and Jaques then jump down from the oliphant, to the 3rd floor balcony.
"Hmm... I guess the information from the intelligence crew is right, this realy is the Vicount's house. Considering I found documents about the city tax revenue, building permits, etc..."
"I agree. Those fancy furnitures, only an incredibly rich merchant, or a noble can affort it. And with that, should we have our meal here. It's comfortable here, and I'm starving."
"Patience Jaques. But I agree to have our meal here. If they didn't take it with them, a noble's kitchen must be filled with top of the line ingredients that our cook can use."
"Yes! Now you're talking commander. I'll order the cook to do just that."
I shake my head after seeing Jaques immediately disappear from the room. But I can't blame him. This is the much needed rest after the long oliphant ride. While waiting for the food to arrive, I should check these documents.
Around 15 minutes later, Jaques return while carrying two plates.
"Commander, the food is ready."
"Thank you Jaques." I then grab the plate and start eating.
"Do you found some information from these piles of documents."
"Yes. I manage to find some critical information. I'll send it to the king city later via the manacom. But, I feel something odd from all of this."
"What is it."
"Like the food, the vicount left this critical documents behind. Why would the vicount, left behind these important documents when retreating. Even if that Vicount is an idiot, one of his competent men, should be able to bring, if not destroy these documents. It's like they wished we stay arou..n.d."
Suddenly I started to remember those Eldians said about their king.
'With his wisdom, our king manage to build a terrifying weapon that can even destroy this king city of yours with one strike.'
The bad feeling that keep gnawing me from when that uruk-kai gave him his report, has just turn in to fear.
"Jaques!"
"Whoah! What is it commander?"
"We are retreating! This city it self is a trap! Quick get up, we are running out of time!"
"What? Wait a minute! Commander!!"
I didn't care about Jaques's bewilderment and just jump out from the balcony to the next house roof. I then shout at the oliphant rider and everybody that I find, to run out of this city.
But then, I see it. In the darkness of night, an arrow of light heading here. It's like a falling star. And at that moment, I realize that there is nothing that I could do. So this is it, this is how I will die.
