Turning the Table.

"Master could it be the emperor who sent it?"

"I believe so but it's not that simple." I responded. This pair of husband and wife sure are something else but this should be common within the royal family right? But, although this might look like a personal issue, it really isn't because I am now absolutely convinced the perpetrators were not aware of my true identity.

In other words, it was not an attempt on Ru Shi but an attempt on the life of the Grand Master of Mount Fu Sect.

I place my head in between my palms with my fingers massaging my forehead. I accept that the assassination attempt was for the Grand Master of Mount Fu sect, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth for me to be marked for assassination by my own father.

"Master don't tell me you are feeling depressed because the assassination was from your father?"

I grin as I glance up at him. "At times like this calling me sister Bai Ru or older sister is okay you know." I answered trying to fend off the question.

"Don't try to change the topic." He retorted. "This is a grave insult to the Mount Fu Sect by Shui Yu country. And even if we are known to be neutral, I think it has gone past that stage at the moment."

I sigh as I sit up crossing my legs with my palms on my lap.

"From my deductions, Elder Ye was not aware of the source of the poison. Firstly, although he has been coveting the Grand Master position following master's handing over the position to me, the interest of the sect is foremost in his heart. Secondly, if he had reached out to Shui Yu country's royalty to help him get rid of me, it would not only cause him to owe them a favor but also expose his weakness to them. This, they can always use against him. His personality being as it is, would not allow room for that. It would develop into a situation of lifting a rock to throw at another but hitting your own foot instead."

"Then that means the crown prince posted someone to observe his movements looking for an opportunity to act."

"You could say that, but the poison did not necessarily have to come from the crown prince. Possessing the information is already an advantage for him but not only did he get involved, it had to come straight from his mother. Empress Rui sure is fearless, not taking any chances and taking advantage of all opportunities." I chuckle.

It is indeed a pity to be in a relationship with someone whom you have to constantly watch your back while living with them. I wonder what the joys of such conditions entail.

"Master do we need to inform Right Elder of the Emperor's involvement?"

"Wu Xing would inform him." I stand and walk towards the mini study at the side of the chamber. The room is decorated simply with a table and chair. On the table are writing materials so I walk up and sit on the chair while Kita stands beside me to grind the ink. I pick up the writing brush, dip in ink and pen down a message for Uncle Wu.

"Send this to Uncle Wu. They would disperse the guests from the Blood Dance ceremony by tomorrow morning. It would be best if the letter from Mount Fu Sect arrives before Crown Prince Fei Hung gets to Shui Yu country."

"Sending this to Shui Yu country emperor, right now will it be okay?" He turned to me with the letter in his hand looking puzzled.

"Of course. Let's give him what he wants. Although a mountain cannot turn, but a road can." I respond with a grin on my face as I rise up from the chair.

"Alright." He nods, spun around and strode towards the exit.

The Emperor and Empress of Shui Yu have been in a cold war for years now. This then, is a golden opportunity for him, to get rid of the empress's position.

The Crown Prince requesting for the poison from his mother created an opportunity for the emperor.

Empress Shui has always wanted to have ties to the Grand Master of Mount Fu Sect to secure the position of the crown prince. Hence helping Elder Wu in his ambition would be the best way since it was concluded that I am of no use. But being the sly woman she is, she decided to help him gain the Grand Master position. After which he would come to her requesting for his daughter who is already in her son's palms, to become the crown princess.

From all indications she has no intention of letting that take place, so evidence of this deed would turn into her bargaining chip to gain his support for her son without making Ai Wen the crown princess. At the most, she would become a concubine.

They intended the poison which was expected to have been delivered, to make it seem like I had passed out from fatigue. Then it would gradually weaken my internal organs undetected till I die. However, Ru Shi poison was used which totally destroyed the carefully planned intention.

The Ru Shi poison causes one to become unconscious and paralyzed at immediately it is taken, rotting the intestines and internal organs leading to death within 4 hours.

The emperor's plan then is to have this incident placed on the empress, and considering the prestige, status and reputation of the Mount Fu Sect, a matter as serious as this would never be forgiven. She most definitely will be executed. This is just borrowing another's hands to carry out one's wish.

To the emperor, the report of the Grand Master of Mount Fu sect being critically ill will be perceived as a cover-up to my death.

I head towards the bathroom with a smirk on my face. He definitely targeted the wrong pawn. Moreover, I do not believe the emperor could have carried this out without having another backing, and whoever or whatever it is would become a thorn for Mount Fu Sect in the near future.

Shui Yu country is the largest and most powerful country in the earth realm. Their might and power is currently only second to that of the Mount Fu Sect therefore anyone whom they regard as a backing is definitely someone alien whom I need to smoke out.

Let's play a sucker to catch a sucker then.
