Waking Up

There was an immense jolt of pain in Viktor's heart. With quite a bit of effort he opened his eyes slightly. He could sense he was on a bed with a very large framed woman crying at the corner of the bed. She would occasionally say some things to a tall man with his back to the bed and head towards the window. After a few moments, he sunk back into slumber.

"Where am I, who am I, what is this place?" He kept asking this in his head. Many different jumbled memories seemed to be surfacing in his mind. "Calm down, calm down" an external voice from outside this storm of memories kept calling out to him. The voice was very gentle. Gradually the tempest in his mind slowed down listening to this calm voice. A strange mnemonic seemed to have entered his soul.

He woke up 20 days after he first heard the voice and, seemed to have followed the mnemonic without much thought. This helped him come out of his long sleep. He checked his chest area only to see he was really tiny, about as old as a one year old boy. There was a large framed tall from before in the room and seemed to have slept crying. Her face was towards him on the bed while half of her body was on a chair.

All a sudden he had memories of a one year old boy and, this person was definitely his mother. "Aaaaaah" Viktor cried, he realized he had now become a one year old baby!! "Fengar, Fengar Oh Fengara" cried his mother. She was crying with tears of joy. Soon Viktor realized who he was.

He was Gu Feng of the Gu clan. Although he did not understand more than that, he was quite amazed how a one year old boy could understand even this much. While his mother made a great fuss and called in a number of maids and sent some servants to call his father to the child's room. Viktor reviewed his past memories of his current life.

Surprisingly after the initial shock of the situation he was not to taken aback about the fact that he had been reincarnated. But as soon as he started reviewing his short history, he was shocked again. He realized he was not even a year old. Only 6 months at the time of death, and currently around 8 and a half month. More surprisingly he understood the common language of the plain in its entirety. Many complex concepts such as war and politics had also taken rudimentary root in his conscience. All these facts were quite surprising.

Upon further analysis it was clear that he was defiantly in a different plane or realm. Here the laws of physics were definitely different than in the Gallen alliance. Perhaps he was in an altogether different universe? Before getting all worked up and shouting again, little Gu Feng started to internally recite the mnemonic he had learnt in the interlude of his two awakenings in his new life.

He was calm now and decided to play it by ear.

He knew who he was and he know who his parents were in this life. Instinctively he decided to become filial child of the Gu clan. Inwardly he was very happy to have his own parents in this life. Though his foster patents in his previous life were the best he could hope to find, he was quite excited to be blessed with real parents in this life. He wanted to become the joy of their life and outperform in everything they asked of him.

This life also gave him the prospect of having more close family, brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles and aunts. Though the old professor would never think in this way, the rebirth, combined with the fact he was in some other physical universe encouraged him to think his age along with taking the best from his previous life. Although he did not realize how easily he was accepting all this could not only be due to being in a new universe, he could not think beyond this for now.

His mother was Gu Nadra Templeston. She was a high Elf of the Templeston line. Second daughter of the family Templeston, she was the highest ranked healer among the elves in the 1000Km radius. Despite being so powerful she could not dispel the evil soul poison that someone had given little Fengar. She had even borrowed the nature energy of older brother Nordin Templeston to bolster her spells and run them longer to purify Fengar but to no end.

After repeated failed attempts, his father had been called back from his campaign in the south. His mother was heartbroken. Both his parents had not spared any expenses in calling doctors from all over the land to fix up their child. All kinds of human healers were teleported to the Gu lands, genius healing wizards and leading herbalists, the rare pill masters were also sought and brought in. But none could help.

On the day he woke up shouts of it being a miracle went around all of Gu Clan castle. Soon all of the Gu lands were in joy. The adjoining lands of family Templestons, were no less joyous, knowing this fact. His parents and uncle were definitely convinced that it was divine intervention that saved Gu Feng.

Gu feng was aware of some of what was happening in his near death stage, however he could not correctly remember much of things that happened from the time Gu Feng( previous soul) started dissipating till the time Viktor's soul emerged in the body and assimilated it as part of a whole.

He pieced together that it had mostly been his uncle Nordin who had supported his mother in the first couple of months to prevent his soul from dissipating. His father took almost a month to get back from the south after learning the grievous news. This was mostly because he was a very famous general and could not leave the battlefield as and when he pleased. However for him to have come for his son showed how much he cared for him.

Many a times the head of the house and elder Uncle Gu Haofeng would come and look at his nephew with sorrow. Although Gu Feng understood that his paternal uncle also dearly loved him, he could see that he was more sad for his brother and sister in law. He would comfort Gu Feng's body and soul with refreshing water elemental ki which seemed to be his forte.

His cousins and various other uncles had all been in to see him in his death-bed. While most seemed friendly some even seemed happy to see him in a comatose state. Although he decided not to form any solid opinions before actually meeting them, as his life before the incident too had been a very short one. For now he was on cloud nine to have survived and gotten a new family.

As he had never been one to give up he decided to figure out how to get back to his old universe and extract revenge on the aliens after he grew up in this world. Keeping his focus on the here and now he could not revel at the fact of having such a loving family in the present realm.
