Catastrophe

Agni raced back down towards the office. She ran through a couple of red lights by the time she reached the third intersection, everything turned ugly. She didn't gauge the speed of the other car trying to catch the green light. It t-boned the front of her car, sending her car spinning out of control. The car coming from the opposite direction couldn't stop in time and hit the back end the car trying to catch the green light. Making a domino affect. Two more cars crashed, and Agni's car practically wrapped itself around a light post. She was lucky though and it was the passenger's side that took most of the damage from the pole.

Smoke from the cars engines were creating a hazy scene. Other cars were lucky enough to stop in time, people rushed over to the site and were already calling for 9-1-1. Agni kicked open the door and stepped out of the car. A strong ringing noise and muffled screams was all she heard. She tried to focus her vision but everything was moving in a blurred fashion. Someone went up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

She tried to see his face but it was useless. She smacked his hand away and shook her head. The ringing stopped and everything was coming into focus. Then she remembered, the bracelet! She rushed back to her car and dug around until she found her phone on the floor of the driver's side. She clutched her phone and ran towards the park. People were shouting as other pulled out their phones and started recording her escape.

Agni ran as if her life depended on it, every step against the pavement caused her heart to pound against her chest. Every sharp breath she inhaled caused her extreme pain and nausea. The moment she saw Cohen Park, her eyes became wide with excitement. She looked at her phone as she ran and saw where she needed to turn to get to the train station.

The closer she got to the train station the more the adrenaline high she started to decrease. She felt a horrific pain in her torso, her head was pounding with a migraine and her feet were starting to feel heavy. By the time she made it to the front doors, she was practically dragging herself in. She pulled out her phone and dialed Carl.

She didn't wait long he picked up by the second ring. "Where do I go from here?" She wheezed. "Master, it's better if you wait for my team to get there. You don't have a key and how are you going to get the bracelet out of the lockers? Please just sit down and let us work." Carl pleaded but Agni would not let him boss her around. "Are you saying that Olivia's team has a key? Are they going to wait around for Felix to show up?!" Agni shouted as she winced. She wrapped her torso with her arm hoping the pressure would help ease the pain.

"No... they are grabbing the key from the ticket box." He started to say but Agni didn't want to hear anything else. "Make it so they know it's me picking it up. My ID and everything else is in my purse back at the car so make this work for me." She said then heard furious typing from Carl's end. "Master, it's done. The code phrase is 'I am queen.' Then they will surrender the key instantly." Agni grinned to herself as she hung up the phone. She commanded her body to keep going when she saw the desk.

She didn't wait long before the lady behind the counter gave her the key. Agni felt another wave of adrenaline rush through her body as she wrapped her fingers around the key. "Where are the lockers?!" She shouted causing people to turn to look at her. A very bored looking women popped her gum in Agni's face before she sighed. "Them lockers are by the washrooms on the on second floor ya know... but there are also some on this floor by them, ya know, vending machine. Which number you have lady."

Agni cringed at her English and looked at the key. "68." The lady turned to the wall on her tight and looked up the lockers location. She blew an even bigger bubble and popped it again in Agni's face. "68, is second floor." Agni couldn't get out of there fast enough as she rushed by people. She pushed aside children and the elderly to make it to the stairs. She wrapped both hands around the railing to pull herself upwards. "Just two more step, just two more steps." She chanted to herself as to ease her mind.

She finally reached the second floor and looked around for a sign that pointed to the washrooms. There were too many people rushing around, that couldn't deal with her standing around so they pushed her around and soon she felt her back collide into the wall. The wind was knocked out of her but it didn't stop her, she needed to find the washrooms. A young man wearing a green hoodie and headphones spotted Agni and walked up to her. "You okay?!" He shouted as he bobbed his head to the rhythm of the music. "Washrooms!" She said as she felt the pain creep up her body again. "What?!" The man shouted as he cupped his ear with his hand, refusing to take the earphones out.

Agni grabbed the front of his hoodie with both hands and pulled him close, she yanked out the earphones and spat in his face. "Washrooms! I need to find lockers that are close to the washrooms!" The young man started to sweat as he held his hands up in defense. He slowly started to point behind him. "It's like, that way, near the 3rd pick zone." Agni kissed the young man's lips and ran off in the direction he gave her.

She fought her way through the crowd and cursed the amount of people there. After what seemed like a life time she finally saw the signs for her destination. She pushed herself further and noticed that the amount of people started thinning out. Her eyes widened when she saw the three rows of lockers. She ran as fast as she could but her legs could barely move anymore, she stumbled and slammed her body against the lockers.

Some people who saw her fall rushed over to help her but she was like a feral cat, scratching at the air when someone tried to approach her. "I don't need your filthy hands on me!" She shouted as she used the lockers to haul herself up. The onlookers shrugged and started walking away while others grumbled about only wanting to help. She frantically looked over the locker and quickly found locker number 68. She shoved the key in, turned it but the locker wouldn't open.

Agni went insane and started to pound her fist against the locker as she tried to jiggle the key. A woman in a two piece grey suit walked up to her and placed her hand on top of Agni's shoulder. "The lockers are pretty tricky, do you need some help?" Agni turned to look at the woman and froze for a second. Her ruby coloured hair was gorgeously styled into pencil thin curls that compliment her dark skin. The woman moved her hand and wrapped her fingers around the key, turned it and pulled it out.

"Ah here is your problem! You just put it into the wrong locker, it's locker 89 you want." She said and she slowly bent down and looked for the locker. "See here it is." She said happily as she put the key inside the key hole and turned it. Agni panicked and pushed the woman aside as she screamed. "No!" An older looking lady rushed over to help the woman up. "Are you okay?" She asked as the woman got up. "Yes, yes, it seems that this lady didn't want my help. I'm just a busybody."

The elderly lady brushed off the woman's suit then patted her arm. "It's okay sweetie, karma gets everyone one day." Agni was reaching into the locker and found the package when she heard what the old woman say. She grabbed the package and quickly turned around but the two women were gone. Agni felt a wave of fear wash over her and she didn't bother closing the locker. She quickly got up and ran towards the washrooms to open the package in peace.

She picked the first stall and locked the stall door. She quickly pulled the package apart until she saw the shine of the gold bracelet. She started to laugh out loud when suddenly she heard a familiar voice. "No I'm fine I promise. Please you are worrying too much... Look I just walked into the washroom I really need to let you go but I promise the moment I'm done in here I will call back.... yes I promise.... okay love you bye."

Agni's heart started to race. She didn't know what to do other then look in between the gap between the stall door and panel. There she could see a familiar auburn coloured hair, pulled back into a ponytail. The woman turned around and Agni jumped back, afraid she would be caught peeping at her. 'Olivia is here!' She thought, her mind went into over drive as she tried to come up with a plan. Olivia stepped into one of the stalls and relieved herself. When Agni heard the flush, she dared herself to look through the gap again.

She saw that Olivia was busying herself with washing her hands. She looked down at the package again and unclasped the bracelet. She would peak periodically as she struggled to put the bracelet on. Olivia dried her hands and looked at her phone. She then brought it up to her ear and smiled. "Eli, hi... yup I'm done but can't you just involve me already in your plans?... Why can't I help? You always try to do everything yourself and I feel so helpless... no I already promised to stay safe and I'm on my way to

the bath house to hide.... I love you too." She said and then walked out the washroom.

Agni quickly unlocked the stall and started her pursuit. She kept a good distance behind Olivia as she happily chatted away on the phone. Agni's mouth started to salivate when she heard the announcement on the P.A. that the blue line was coming. Olivia looked at her phone and said something before she started rushing towards one of the pick up zones.

Agni gritted her teeth and followed as closely as she could. Olivia made it to her zone, she placed her hand over her chest and tried to catch her breathe. She faced the rails, placed the phone against her ear again and happily chatted away. People started to surround her and Agni snuck up behind her. 'Valued clients please remember to stand behind the yellow line for your own safety. The blue line is on its way in.' The P.A. announced again.

A dark thought crossed Agni's mind as a shadow covered half her face. A sinister grin appeared on her face as Olivia told Eli that the train was just coming in. Agni raised her hands and she mentally counted down from 3. '3' She pulled her arms back. '2' She opened her hands so her palms were flat. '1' She used all the strength she had and pushed her hands forward until they made contact with Olivia's back.

Everything before her eyes moved in slow motion. Olivia's back arched as she lost her grip on her phone. It flew side ways, she went forward, someone started to scream, the train blew it's horn. Agni's chest swelled with anticipation and pleasure but then her heart was completely floored. As Olivia was about to fall off the platform a hand grabbed her wrist and an arm went around her body, pulling her back onto the platform just as the train rushed by, brakes screeching to a stop.

Agni could feel her body go cold as she broke out into a sweat. She turned to run away but felt a hand grab each of her wrists and a pair of hands on her shoulders. She looked to her left and it was the same woman that helped her with the lockers smiling. She looked to her right and a very familiar old face was looking at her with murder in her eyes. She dared to look behind her and it was the young man that gave her directions earlier, his hood was down and his smile was beaming.

"Falicia Coblepot, how are you doing?" The man said, making Agni swallow back her saliva. "See, we thought you couldn't resist wanting to kill Olivia so we thought of this great little plan." Agni turned as looked at the woman on her left. Then it hit her. The detectives from before! "Looks like you just remembered who we are." Detective Bane said as she flashed a toothy smile.

"Detective Bane, Officer James. Do you mind turning a blind eye for just a moment." The elderly lady said the was holding Agni's right wrist. "Not at all Mrs. Steel, not at all." Officer James said as he looked up to the ceiling and Detective Bane was busying herself with her nails. Agni looked at Mrs. Steel, her smiling, gentle face caused her to almost wet herself. The elderly woman cocked her head and gave her a wink before she balled her fist and sent it flying into her face.

Agni bounced onto the ground and covered her right eye. Detective Bane and Officer James helped her up as Officer James started reading her rights. She looked up and she caught sight of Olivia wrapped in Eli's protective arms. He looked at her with complete disgust and tightened his hold around the girl.

It was over, it was all over for Agni. Her life was coming to an end.
