Annie (2)

*This chapter includes talk of suicide. If this might hit too close to home, You should skip the marked parts.*

"I can't help but feel like she's going to get hurt or things will get too serious before she tells me," Sam sighed.

"I hope that never happens."

"Now that we've got things covered, let's go back and start the audition."

The two rejoined Annie and they went to his home studio where there was sound proofing. (Rich people, am I right?)

"So, what do you plan to become?" Martin asked Annie.

"I was thinking of being a singer. And maybe later on, I can be an actor."

Martin nodded. "Being a singer can be hard if you don't make your mark. If you stop releasing songs, the public just forgets about you. What sort of acting do you want to do? Blockbusters? Dramas? If you just want to be on television, you can do reality TV, although, there isn't that much privacy."

"A drama would be nice because they last for a long time. It would be a stable source of money until it ends."

"Maybe you'll be acting alongside your brother."

"That would be a dream come true."

"Aww, my little sister is so cute!"

"Silence, you siscon."

"I'm NOT a siscon! I just dote on my younger, cute, sweet sibling."

"That's what all the siscons say."

Sam pouted in mock sadness.

"Anyways, let's get this audition started."

Annie nodded, her body a bit more tense. Sam gave her a pat on the head to reassure her. It worked a little, some of the tension fading.

"All right, center of the room. I'll be sitting here," Martin pointed at a swivel chair, "judging you silently. Show me some confidence, this is showbiz."

Annie walked to the center of the room and began to speak.

"My name is Venus Aleado and I am 17. I will be singing a song and performing a short improvised skit."

"Please begin."

Annie took a deep breath and began to sing. The lyrics poured out, filled with emotion. The listeners were caught in the gentle waves of sound. The low notes, the high notes, they made the listener become trapped in the sound. Despite it being the length of a normal song, it seemed to end too soon.

When it ended, Sam clapped with fervour and Martin nodded with a smile.

"Please begin to act."

BEGINNING OF MENTION.

Annie closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When her eyes opened, she seemed hollow, Her eyes were empty, gazing at nothing. Then a lone tear trickled down her cheek. Suddenly, she began to fill with emotions. Anger, sadness, loneliness.

"Why did you leave? Why did you think it was okay to go on without me? DId you not think about how much it would hurt to exist without you? They called me just as I was about to call you. I was worried about you. You hadn't responded to my texts for a whole day when you usually answered within minutes. Something inside me broke when they told me. That you died. The thing inside me hasn't been fixed, and it's cutting me up inside. We could have talked. Maybe if I called you sooner. Or if I told you there was hope. That I cared. Then you wouldn't have done it. Then maybe you wouldn't have decided to buy those pills and take them. But it's too late. Your gone and I'm left here on this god forsaken planet."

Annie took a shaky breath.

"I hate you. But I hate myself more."

FINISHED

Then she closed her eyes and brushed away her tears. It took Annie a while to get out of character.

When she reopened her eyes, they were still watery.

Martin thought for a bit before opening his mouth to speak. "You did a great job. Your singing was great although you seemed to be a bit lacking in control and lung capacity. But your voice is very nice and smooth. Your acting was wonderful, but I wish you moved around a bit more. Maybe pace or bite your lip. Something other than standing there. The emotions were fantabulous. So yes, you have passed with flying colors."

Sam ran to his sister and enveloped her in a hug before lifting her up and spinning.

"You did so good. I'm so proud of you," he murmured.

Annie hugged him back tightly.
