"Why should I?"
Bai Li didn't really want to join but was left with little to no chances. The Bright Star League composed of the universal geniuses that the Union controlled. As of now, no knowledge about them had appeared publically. Ten years ago was the most recent census about them and they had only about two million in the league.
Two million in the whole area controlled by the Union, which is much more recent, shows that they had just recently broken the twenty trillion. Two million out of twenty trillion was unimaginable. They of course still abide by Union Laws, but under certain circumstances or reports are filed, they can be ignored perpetually. The Union heavily respects their power in raising geniuses in the entire borders.
The Bright Star League was a symbol of authority, if they were present, it would be wise to follow their orders to ensure your own survival.
"We have received the sign to do so, you may check these documents if you do not believe us."
A small stamp was found on the document which showed the insignia of the Union. A simple crest of an embedded lion with large fangs. Two small dragons flew around the lion and one large dragon was facing outward in blue.
This was with no doubt a real official document. Anyone caught plagiarizing the stamp would be punishable by death and the arrest of all of their generations currently alive. There was once a underground faction that was caught using these despicable methods and were hunted down by everyone. The leader was killed and his family was taken away to a compound. There were stories that some of the cousins fled towards the Soul Realm, but sustaining yourself in the Soul Realm was hard to do since mostly every monster could kill you in anyway either it be poison, or unrelenting force.
Bai Li sighed, he had no choice, if he wanted to live, he could just spend his time leisurely. And to think he would be chosen out of the twenty trillion. Though their control of galaxies were widespread, death rates always remained high, the growth of the population was to be expected to remain constant or with little growth.
"Yes sir."
Both the Bright Star League began walking with Bai Li to pack his stuff so he wouldn't escape. This was the first time he was supervised over such petty matters, they really didnt want him to go.
After packing up what little he had, they began their trip.
It seems they had things planned stuff outside the Soul Realm and wanted a real life encounter.
They arrived at the platform and the escort was complete, they watched Bai Li go through the tunnel and his vision went white, the warping between the real world and the Soul Realm could not be explained through regular thought and high understanding of warp speed engineering would understand it.
He opened his eyes and he was out of the tunnel, the lighting was quite dim though the interior of the building was always on. Open windows along the side of the walls showed the dark skies, this was the first time in about half a year had he saw darkness other than the cave.
He felt heavy weights pressing down on his body, this must've been how the laws of the Soul Realm differed greatly of that to the real world.
Anything that happened in the Soul Realm had the capacity to 100% of peak performance with soul power included.
In the material world, the power is heavily restricted and can barely perform up to 50% if well mastered and with experiences. Even Evolvers would have issues going up to 50% of their raw domestic power
His power as a Low level Warrior was gone and he wanted to check how his strength was in real life.
Guards were watching over him, it seems they got the memo by the higher ups to escort him. Beside from that, as long as he stayed inside, they wouldn't do anything.
An in-built station was present for anybody to test their mights every once in awhile, it was natural for the Union
Union Grade MPCA equipment were much more dependable than those of the upper class could by.
He strided towards the mission, his Chilled Resolve made his footwork were done lightly as possible and with a refined yet somewhat furious tempo. His phyisique had changed being much more compressed, his muscles were much more lean than before and was compressing his power. The cultivation technique he learned from the Devil Cultivation Techniques allowed for compatible usage in the material world, since it was of course made in their own sense of their material world, why wouldn't it be here?
Punching the shock absorber to read his score was much easier than beforehand, where you had to punch multiple targets and it reads the average. the shock absorber allowed him to
The individual score was tallied by the total physique and reads the pressure of blood and included strands of muscles contracting to punch. It slowly calculated for a few seconds before landing on a number. One could tell many things with a simple punch if one was seasoned in his performance and can spot flaws in one's inbalances.
A number appeared.
100.1 Fist Score.
Level: Low tier Warrior
Barely strafing the limit of a Low tier Warrior, keeping in mind that was when he puts in a bit of effort. If he were to go all out, it would definitely be about 110. The growth of power gets increasingly harder as time goes on. As one's soul energy pool very rarely increases.
Speed remained most likely the less, raising one's speed was much harder than raising one's strength. Soldiers usually had lower speed compared to their overall body.
The course for the speed test was simple as a small track appeared. Some were endurance tests and the rest as exertion.
To which endurance was to run at your fastest speed at a constant speed, usually lasting for three or so minutes. After three minutes are up, an instance would appear where you will sprint towards a treadmill simulating a goal. Bai Li's Chilled Resolve was mainly focused on speed, so why couldn't he show his fruits of labor. Each steps appeared one by one as he raced towards the end, easily breaking his record of 50km/h and went to about 90km/h, or 25 meters a second.
'Great!'
A sense of euphoria spreaded throughout.
His speed was much higher than his fist power, his speed was on par with any average fist heavy Mid tier Warriors.
Overall, he could be classified as a 2nd Stage Warrior, though his cultivation was only equivalent to that of a 1st Stage. The little things counted even when comparing overall strength or general information.
The last was much more simpler, eye movement sensors allowed one to catch anything. A small display appeared in front of him after the agility course. Small projectiles began appearing at rapid speeds. It was needed for one to calculate their eye perception of any sudden movements. All of their senses were also accounted for throughout. The display simulated around him to form a room, to which many projectiles coming in a 360 degree angle came. Some attacks were much more subtle than the rest, but with Chilled Resolve, he would definitely be capable in doing so.
Guards that read his information of the kid that they were escorting were astonished of this feat, they couldn't believe their eyes as they rubbed as hard to make them bleed. If it was that easy to gain their position of power, how long would it take for this newborn to reach theirs? A year or two? That was a thought that wasn't very well heard of, quickly disheartening them.
His perception score came, its difficult to quantify how one perceives than reading one's speed or strength.
It just simply showed difficulty and level of the Warrior.
His perception was top notch, similar to that of speed for him.
He finished up, he had a strength of a Low tier Warrior, a Speed of an average Mid tier muscle freak. And the perception of a Mid tier. Talents was surging greatly for his young self, though it would be hard to believe that a man from another dimension gave him techniques to surpass himself.
Bai Li cleaned up afterwards and began setting out with the guards, two average men who wouldn't be mentioned much in Bai Li's life, distant weeps were heard after this phrase was mentioned.
The conference room was thirteen floors up, a rather perceived bad luck number, similar of that to four.
The room was pretty dark, the stone walls darkened the atmosphere within and only a couple displays were near each seat for those using the conference rooms for large meetings.
"Hello Bai Li, I am the agent sent by the Bright Star League, we'd like to formally invite you to our league."
A woman, who seemed above average than typical beauty standards, was standing near the large round table.
A contract was already perched on the table and the chat was simple and short.
"What's the catch."
"We cater to all types of geniuses, do review some of the contract and ask me if you wish to change anything. Our supervisor mentioned that you were very hard to convinced, so he gave me the thumbs up to abide by your contract. As long as you are not opposing over materialistic matters, we will listen to your terms."
"Why me?"
This was the largest question at this point, why on earth, a term used even after Earth was devoured by the Soul Realm, would they go to such measures to rope him in.
"Excuse me for the moment."
She began speaking through a receiver.
"Yes sir, our supervisor mentioned that you have knowledge of qi of any way or form."
He was now on his guard, and very serious on the matter. They knew he had qi, even though he had just acquired it recently in a time of six months.
"The Union Families, if you have already known is the Xu, the Ji, the Feng, the Wei, and the Qin, are the governing families in charge of running the Union."
"Of course."
"Then you must already know how they've rose into power."
"They were the ancient ancestors of martial arts, why?"
"Ancient martial arts stem from the energies of the world, all of nature, and all of its beautiful creations."
"People are naturally restricted by their humane body and are never able to perform what we have done today, conquering worlds and so on."
"But they have something we didn't, a discovery made to revolutionize the way of fighting in the olden times, that is Qi Gong, or what you know as Qi, which I've already mentioned."
"The Union family are all practitioners of the olden ways and have gained fruits of their own labor and had governed the Union throughout its entire history. To which, of course, are using the energy of Qi Gong."
Information was flowing throughout the side of his head. This must've been kept secret to most people.
"If I were to explain everything, it will take much more time than the intended schedule. I will simply say, what if, one, who has knowledge of Qi just like the families that govern the Union, find out that a root of their growth, suddenly shows up?"
All colors slowly left every orifice of the face and a heavy weight was pushed down.
"I'd take that you already know, there is a reason why no other managed to take in succession of becoming another Union family, they have taken control of their information, and anyone who has information, is tried for treason, sentencable to death. One of the families have already gained information of you through external means. You are in their hands."
"Our Bright Star League had recently gained insight of this just recently and hid any of our information besides general information to cater a program. To protect talents and those who have Qi."
"I will not say anymore as any other information is classified. Will you consider signing the contract?"
He felt heavily forced to do so, but that just acted as a given for him to agree. He bit his lips and felt strained within his mind.
Bai Li began reading every terms of the contracts and began constructing viable agreements to benefit himself modestly in midst chaos.
