I - Winds of Fate - III

Rain was staring at the wall clock impatiently,the tapping of his fingers on the table sounded as if he was counting down the last few seconds before lunch break starts.What seemed like forever had finally passed...

[ Ring! ] ' Okay class,I hope that all of you understood what I have taught all of you today! Class Dismissed! ' Mr Douglas announced. It was lunch break now.Rain stood up and was about to walk out of the classroom,but was stopped when someone's hand grabbed onto his arm. He turned and face the person who had done so.

' Scarlet? ' He noticed that Scarlet seemed to want to say something to him,but for some reason,find herself unable to. do so After a few moments,Scarlet seems to have plucked up the courage to speak her mind. ' Can we talk ? ' She asked shyly. Rain smiled at this, showing his agreement.

They walked side by side in the hallway,heading towards the cafeteria. Scarlet noticed that they were many students looking at Rain,then mumbling among themselves. Her eyebrow twitched in annoyance when she saw that there were a few female students staring longingly at Rain while blushing,she could hear them say things such as ' He's so dreamy!' and ' So cool! ',which irritated her to no end. She was brought back to her sense when she heard Rain asked : ' So,what did you want to talk about? '

She looked around them again,deciding to ask him : ' Before that,can i ask what the students talking about? I overheard some of them saying that you were the one who beat 'him' at the entrance,who did you beat? Did you get yourself into trouble, you dimwit!? ' She blushed at this,realizing that she felt so comfortable when she was with him to the extent she unknowingly acted a bit childish..

Rain chuckled when he heard her calling him a 'dimwit'.He told her : ' On the day I transferred into this school, I met a guy called Jin. Him and his friends tried harassing me,so I merely taught them a lesson. It wasn't anything much. ' He stopped in his tracks when he didn't hear a response from Scarlet.

He turned around and saw her staring at him,as if she was admiring him. ' You beat Jin? He's a second-year student from Class II - Emerald, and you beat him and his friends just like that !? Just who are you exactly !? ' The way her eyes twinkled made her look childish ,which in Rain's opinion,made her look extremely cute. ' He was nothing much. He is good, I'll give him that. However,his magic causes him to overlook his physical attributes,leading to his body not being able to support his magical power. This leads to his attacks being much weaker compared to the power he would be able to use if his body was fit to do it. '

Scarlet widened her eyes at his response , she admired him even more now. He was extremely perceptive,and had such wisdom at such a young age. She shook herself out of her thoughts and continued : ' Can you tell me the secret behind your strength? It is clearly on a completely different level than most,if not,all of the students here excluding a few. Why are you in the Sapphire class in the first place? I would think that with such power, you would be in the Diamond Class? '

' There is no secret to my strength actually. But if there was, I would say that it's because I do not neglect my body just to strengthen my magic. Like what people would usually say, you can improve yourself without mastering the basics,right? For a sorcerer, their body must be fit and healthy so that their powers can be fully utilized without any trouble. I can give you some tips for that If you want. And to answer your next question , I'm pretty sure the reason why I'm in the Sapphire class is because I did not use any magic for my preliminary exams as I concluded that there was no need to. I expected the school to judge a student based on their combat strength, but little did I expect them to judge it on magical abilities instead. '

She sweatdropped at his response. He was entered into the Sapphire class for such a dumb reason? It was then she realized something. ' With his abilities,he can easily be moved into the Diamond Class... Would he do so when given the chance...? ' This terrible thought arose in her mind. She couldn't accept the fact knowing that she would be seeing Rain lesser and lesser if he was to be in different classes than her.

Rain seemed to have sensed her sadness, as he reassured her : ' I don't think I'll be going to a different class,at least for this year. I don't hate being in the Sapphire Class anymore. There are undiscovered talents in the Sapphire Class such as Aster and yourself, Mr Douglas is also a great form-teacher. Besides,I got to meet someone as cute as you because of this, why would I give up a chance to see you everyday just to be with stuck-up perverts who fantasize about their own strength? '

She blushed when she heard what Rain had said. In Rain's eyes,she look just like a cat due to how she seemingly shrunk due to how much she blushed. He could have swore that he saw a pair of cat ears and a cat's tail appear on Scarlet,but it quickly vanished when he blinked. Scarlet was happy,extremely happy. Hearing Rain praise her like that,calling her an undiscovered talent,and c-ca-calling her cut-cute... This made her extremely happy. She giggled cutely when she heard Rain call the people in the elite classes 'stuck-up perverts who fantasize about their own strength'. She couldn't deny what he had said though,it is indeed true that some of them do act like that due to how arrogant they are of their statuses such as those who are nobles,their arrogance was worsened by the fact that they were considered 'strong' in this school,leading to them viewing people like her who lacked control over their magic or had shown no instances of magical talents as 'peasants',which in fact,some of them had already done so...

Rain smirked when as if he could read her mind, he grabbed onto her shoulder and told her : ' Don't worry , I'll teach those punks a lesson for you. Such arrogance cannot go unpunished. ' She widened her eyes in shock hearing him say that. ' Why would you do that just for me? ' She asked, there were tears already falling from her face due to how touched she was hearing him say that. He smiled warmly at her,gently using his index finger to wipe the tears from her beautiful face,and caressed her cheeks. ' Because, you are my dear friend and classmate , Scarlet.. '

Rain then embraced her in a hug,patting her back all the while trying to console her. He had heard from Aster about the things those stuck-up pricks had said to her,and he was absolutely furious. Scarlet was from a prestigious family that many geniuses had come out from. Her family had an extremely rare magic power that was passed down generations from generations. It was a type of magic called the 'Sacred Fire'. Members of that family had sorcerers that possessed magic such as the Flames of the Dragon and the Lightning-Flames of the Panther. This was a form of magic called Familiar Magic, which is considered very rare at this age. The magic,obviously,differed slightly from each other in different individuals of that clan. However,the Flames Familiar Magic of her clan was extremely powerful, Familiar Magic was a form of magic that at it's first phase,it allowed practitioners to use the basics of that magic,which in Scarlet's family's case,was Flames. It is at the second phase of this magic when Familiar Magic starts to truly shine. Upon reaching a high enough level to learn Familiar Magic,the practitioners will form a contract with a Familiar,depending on what their magic were.People with the Flames of the Dragon had different Dragon Familiars that again,has different ranks.Those that are extremely talented are able to contract with Dragon Kings while those who are less talented are able to contract with Dragon Soldiers,which is still considered extremely powerful.

From what Aster had told Rain, Scarlet was at the first phase and as her family had a belief of allowing one to find their own paths,they did not divulge any information on how to improve herself or even what kind of Flame Familiar Magic she had. This of course led to her trying to figure it out by herself,leading to her neglecting her basic training which in turn led her to lose control over her magic. This was why she was mocked by those punks. The name of Scarlet's family is the Ravel family,which is an extremely powerful family in this city. Due to her fame,there were many people who had high expectations of her. However,due to her negligence and lack of control, she greatly disappointed a lot of them,some people who were delighted at her failure was obviously those punks who laughed at her.

Remembering all of this again,he gritted his teeth in anger and clenched his right fist tightly. The anger that radiated off him was suffocating,which led to some unfortunate students that were in the same hallway finding trouble with breathing due to the sheer pressure Rain was releasing. However, Scarlet was oblivious to it, she was content with just staying in Rain's embrace,unconsciously rubbing her cheeks against the crook of his neck. This sensation brought Rain out of his senses as he shivered, releasing the pressure he was exerting,and the anger that he felt to vanish.

He pulled Scarlet away from his chest,causing her to pout in disappointment over losing her new-found 'teddy bear' which caused Rain to chuckle at how cute she looked. He then look at her in the eye,which she could tell that he was serious now. He asked her : ' Scarlet,i want to hear it from you personally. Can you tell me your name, Miss Scarlet? '

She smiled warmly at him , they simply stood there,their eyes staring into the others blissfully. ' My name is Scarlet, Scarlet D. Ravel. What is yours, Rain? '

He chuckled slightly when he heard her ask him this question. He knew that it was because of her rude response to his handshake,which was the moment where they would introduce themselves to one another if it was received well by her. He smiled back at her and said : ' My name is Rain, Rain Fallenstein. '

This was a blissful moment for Scarlet as the both of them simply stood there,staring contentedly into one another. Scarlet felt a warm feeling rising up from within her,getting stronger and stronger by the minute. Unlike the small crush that surfaced due to her admiration for him after his fight with Mr Roark,she realized that this time,she have truly fallen for the man known as Rain Fallenstein...
