Walk Me

'Just wanted a human to die...'

Li Feng then broke in a maniacal yet dark chuckling. His eyes then flashed before he swiped his hand across Guangru's face. His nails weren't long, but they had chipped due to his restlessness in the police station. They grazed at the child's face as three long scratches marked on his youthful and beautiful skin.

As if those weren't enough, he even used his arm to push Guangru away from him. The child only stepped back a little. The man then roared even after Li Yunru grabbed him to keep him from lunging at the child. "Just wanted a human to die?! Do we look like toys to you?!

"Even if they were all vengeful ghosts, they were all humans once! Why would they take joy in killing random people? Is it because of you again? Everything that happened is because of you!"

Ruan Jin couldn't hold back anymore and went to help Li Yunru in suppressing Li Feng. "Man, this is not the place to do this! If you get jailed again for disturbance, you wouldn't know what those police officers will do to you!"

"I don't care! I'm innocent—!"

"We're not innocent yet!" Ruan Jin pushed him back for Li Yunru to hug fully. The unusually aggressive man looked down at Li Feng, who was on the floor, before glancing at Mr. and Mrs. Liu. "Yes, they let you go, but did you know that my friends and I were being held up in there earlier? I couldn't even bring them out with me. My cousin is a police officer, and she just vouched for me.

"I know you're really gung-ho in revenge, but you should probably wait..." He then glanced at Guangru who didn't even look at everyone as he nursed his scratched face. "Look, he said he didn't kill your friend. Someone else did. Even if he started all of this, you couldn't blame him for everything..."

Li Feng almost spat. "Right. If Liu Xiaodan didn't bring him over, nothing of this would ever happen in the first place."

The friend could only let shock widen his eyes. He then turned away and rubbed the back of his neck before walking in circles. To be honest, Li Feng had a point. However, Liu Xiaodan never expected all of this would happen. All he knew by then was probably bringing a poor ghost child with him.

The young exorcist got up from the floor with the help of his cousin. He then glared at the sleeping Liu Xiaodan. "When that kid killed Huang Kun, he should have disposed of him. What did he think would happen if he kept a mogui as a pet?

"I'm leaving." Li Feng spoke as he pulled his cousin towards the door. He stopped in front of the parents. "Mr. Liu, Mrs. Liu, you might be acquainted with my parents, but never think of showing your faces to them." He then walked off, ignoring the blatant glare Liu Li gave him.

"Uncle Liu, please let him go." Ruan Jin only sighed before staring down at the child who held on his face. His eyes were so cold that Ruan Jin could feel like he might be killed the next second. "Guangru, do you have any idea what you brought upon Xiaodan?"

"Death." Guangru used a voice that wasn't even belonging to a child.

The parents retreated by a step, but Ruan Jin didn't move. His eyes watered as he grew scared, but he knew he should stand his ground. The tech guy then spoke again, "Death? You think you brought him death? Man, that thing is swift.

"This is torment."

Guangru used his eyes to look up at Ruan Jin who curled his fist in response.

The man continued speaking, "You like Xiaodan, right? Why don't you just leave him alone? He almost died because of you, didn't he? If this continued, even his future is going to be ruined. You might as well kill him."

Blink. The child didn't respond to him. Leaving Liu Xiaodan was out of the question; his baba would grow scared without him after all.

Then again, what could he do? He just wanted to live a good life and be reborn? Now that he found a good father to take care of him, everyone else was revolting. Guangru had a feeling that staying with him these days wouldn't be for the best… for his father.

The child only turned away and walked out of the room. His small hand flattened against the door before the door slid to the side. He moved slowly as if a little boy leaving in dejection.

"Shit, that was scary!" Ruan Jin collapsed to the floor. Ye Ling moved to him and sat by him. He then turned to the parents and made a rather sullen expression. "Uncle, Auntie, you seem to like Guangru a lot, but he's not... he's not really allowed to stay next to Xiaodan, you know..."

Wu Qianqian only held onto her own hand and admitted it to herself. Liu Li did the same, but he held Wu Qianqian's shoulders instead.

Around this time, Liu Xiaodan's eyes actually opened. He then turned to Ruan Jin. "Taio and Disung are at the police station? I should..." He tried to get up, but his stomach ached more than he could handle. "I should... get them out..."

Ruan Jin didn't even stop him from tearing his wound. The other just chastised him, "Hey, disabled man, what do you think you're doing? You can get them out of there? How? Are you planning to surrender yourself instead?"

"Hehe, why not?"

"Fuck!" Ruan Jin shuffled to his feet, grabbed Liu Xiaodan, and pushed him back to the bed. "Are you crazy?! Even if you say something like that—if the court investigates, you will be found innocent! They will then think you're covering up for your cousin, man!"

Liu Xiaodan cussed in his heart.

Ruan Jin was right. They had seen so many movies and police documentaries to know that it wasn't going to work. However, he had no more choice but to cover for everyone.

Li Feng was right; he brought Liu Guangru to the dorm, and he should be responsible for the events that followed. However, there was nothing he could do for now... nothing as he lay on his bed, injured and bedridden.

...

Three days... it had been three days, but the police were still restless. They had let go of all their possible suspects since none of them were capable of doing the deeds. They kept on talking to Liu Xiaodan and Chuan Nayi in the hospital as well, but nothing logical came out of their mouths.

For some reason, they wanted to rest. However, Ting University was waiting for a name to call their culprit. If these serial deaths wouldn't stop, their reputation to the public would be in danger.

In these three days, Guangru didn't show up in the hospital. His father was only left with a black bear as his companion. Chuan Nayi had irrevocably gone colder to her supposed boyfriend, and Liu Xiaodan didn't even pay attention to it. It was as if he was occupied by something else.

Meanwhile, in the Mian residence, a luxurious car entered the premises. Mian Tianyu stood at the entryway to the main door along with some members of the Mian household. Li Feng and Li Yunru were there as well, the man growing a little sullen.

The car stopped before the residence, and the doors opened. The first one to get out was a beautiful woman. She wasn't like those beautiful women who relied on youth. Everyone could tell that she was around in her forties, and yet she exuded such a rather sophisticated and classy aura.

People who didn't know her would still kneel down as if they just saw a queen from a foreign country.

Her light tan eyes then landed on the man who seemed to be hiding behind his elders. However, she didn't call out to him. She reached out inside the car and helped an elderly woman out the car.

Unlike the other woman, this elderly was like a deity. Her presence felt divine as it was so light and would not intimidate anyone. Then again, everyone felt like they shouldn't sin around her, or else the nine heavens would punish them.

Mian Tianyu then bowed down as the female elderly came out of the car. "Big Sister Ni! Welcome home!" The household murmured the greeting as loud sounds would disturb the elderly female. She then smiled as she reached out a hand to beckon Mian Tianyu. "Tianyu, walk me."

As if a deity had spoken, her voice drifted like the wind. Mian Tianyu came and assisted her himself instead of having stronger members of the family to help. This was the Mian Matriarch, Mian Tianni!

She was the strongest among the shamans in the Mian family and the mind behind their multiple arrays and formidable wards. On her face was a smile that would neither captivate people nor make them follow her. However, their hearts would flutter as if being cleansed.

It's just that when she walked past Li Feng, she stopped. Her hand left Mian Tianyu's arm, and she turned to the young man. Her eyes, which gaze was mellow, suddenly turned cold. "Feng'er."

Unlike earlier, her voice carried a sliver of anger.

Li Feng, who had no idea what he had done to anger her, only shot his face up and stared at her with wide eyes. He then hurriedly bowed down. "Master Tianni—"

"You dared walk around the forbidden shrine?" Mian Tianni looked down at him with her cold eyes as if she was pressing him down with just her gaze.

"Forbidden shrine? I didn't dare! I... I don't even get near it..." Li Feng was confused. The forbidden shrine was in a secluded place in the city. No one was allowed to go there as Mian people were guarding it.

Let alone walking through it, Li Feng didn't even know exactly where it was.

"Tianyu, take him to the Purification Hall." Mian Tianni didn't seem to believe him at all. She suddenly turned and reached her hand out.

The woman with her in the car had her face drained of color. She went to catch Mian Tianni's hand and walked her inside instead.

Mian Tianyu then turned to look at Li Feng who lifted his head. The young man really had not gone to that place, and yet he was suddenly subjected to purification?
