The First Day

After what seemed like hours spent on cursing his new lot in life, the man, or should we say the rabbit, finally calmed himself down.

-What am I going to do now?

The rabbit stared and stared at his reflection, until his stomach let out a loud gurgle.

-Hah~ Let's find some food first.

After drinking some water to soothe his empty belly, he hopped off to find some food. Since he was a rabbit, he decided to munch on some of the nearby grass, which happened to be pretty tasteless. Disappointed in his fare, he decided to search for something tastier.

After some time, he found some clover and alfalfa, which did have some taste, but he wanted something better. With nose twitching, he scented the air for something delicious.

He spent most of the day searching, with frequent breaks in between, but found nothing to his taste. As the day slowly darkened into evening, a chill wind started to blow and the nightly calls of the nocturnal predators sounded, announcing their intention to hunt.

-As defenseless as I am right now, I'd better find some shelter.

He eventually found a hollow between the tree roots of a white tree with purple leaves not too far from the stream he found in the morning. Ears pricked up and eyes wide open, he eventually faded off into sleep.

...

...

Before the dawn's early rays could shine on him, he was awakened to a slight rustling sound. He was immediately alert, and he focused on where the sound originated from. Wafting in from the air was a scent of musk.

-Shit, just my luck.

The rabbit hunkered down at the entrance of the hollow in preparation of the upcoming confrontation. What finally emerged from the thicket was a juvenile weasel, except it had two tails and it was… blue. It wasn't just blue, it was a bright neon blue.

-It's blue, of course it's bloody blue. Is anything here it's proper color?

As soon as the weasel-like creature laid eyes on our poor rabbit it licked its chops in delight. The weasel jumped from side to side while snapping it jaws at the rabbit to frighten it into running. But he was calm and kept his position.

The weasel soon grew tired of his antics and charged to take a swipe at the rabbit, but using his powerful hind legs he leapt forwards to headbutt the weasel, stunning it. The rabbit then seized the initiative to tackle the weasel creature to get his teeth on its neck. But it was having none of that.

They proceeded to roll around grappling for dominance. The rabbit's coat was dyed red from the sharp claws of the weasel. But it was faring no better and suffered deep bruising from the rabbit's powerful kicks.

Tired and exhausted they both sprang apart and readied themselves for one last attack. After a standoff which seemed to have lasted for an eternity, the impatient weasel creature launched itself at the rabbit. The rabbit stayed still in the face of this attack, and at the very last moment he did a slight hop to the side and bit down deep into the creature's neck.

The weasel's blood slowly trickled down his throat while it went through its last death throes. When the blood hit his stomach, a fire seemed to have been lit inside of him.

-Sooo gooood! Want more~

He ate and he ate until there was nothing left but the gleaming white bones. He then slowly got up and carefully hopped himself over to his hollow as he collapsed into a food-induced coma.

The heat in the small rabbit's body continued to grow hotter and hotter making him whimper in pain even in his unconsciousness. The heat then gathered upon itself and started to rapidly spin until it condensed into a small bead-like object.

Our adorable little rabbit had finally formed his beast core. With this he could slowly improve his bloodline and better survive this treacherous world.
