Rin Mini: The Floaty Thing

Rin was really confused. Her master bought a weird floaty thing. For some reason, she felt the urge to chase it whenever it was moving. She stalked behind him silently and watched as he glided in the backyard for a few seconds before sending a wave of air at the board to slow it down.

The board suddenly jerked and Zeph fell off of it. This was the fourth time today. "Urgh, why am I having such a rough time with this?" Zeph asked his amused audience. Bernard, Eli, Semara, and Bianca were watching him learn how to use a hoverboard. "I swear I had it figured out yesterday." he carefully watched Semara and Bianca for some reaction. The young lord was certain one of them was up to something. If only he was paying attention to the hidden kitten in the grass.

"Why don't you try again, and pay attention to your surroundings this time," Bernard recommended. Everyone knew what was going on, but decided it was more fun to watch Rin mess with the boy. His grandfather was starting to feel guilty after seeing Zeph face plant for the fourth time, so he decided to give him a hint.

Zeph had been more focused on his balance and the board, so he decided to follow Bernard's advice. Sure enough, he noticed what the problem was. As he was making his fifth attempt to hover across the backyard, he felt wind magic approach the board from the side. he blocked it with a small shield.

"Rin, what the heck are you doing?" He stared down ant the crouching kitten.

~Play~ he heard in his head and swore he saw the cat smile.

"You want to play with this?" he asked, tapping his foot on the board beneath him. Rin's connection to him let him feel her curiosity. "Okay, come here." Zeph got off of the board and knelt down to receive the happy cat that ran into his waiting arms.

Rin was purring, now that she was finally getting attention. Zeph scratched behind her ears while he walked back towards the group that was watching his earlier attempts and hoverboarding. They smiled innocently when he sent them an accusatory glance.

"You guys knew the whole time huh?"

They nodded in unison.

Zeph pinched the bridge of his nose, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Cuz it was funny." Semara giggled.

Zeph was about to retort when he heard a voice in his head again. ~Hurry~ He felt Rin's desire to mess with the hoverboard through their connection.

"Okay, you little squirt," he sat Rin down on the floating board. "Here you go."

Rin sat on the board confused and tilted her head at the young lord. ~How?~

"You make it move." Zeph pushed the board and it started floating towards Bianca.

~Oooooh~ Rin liked it. She could float without using a lot of magic. The kitten stood up and walked along the board watching as things passed by. Finally, the board stopped in front of Bianca.

Her eye's looked up at the fox-girl, an unspoken question apparent in her cute stare.

Bianca smiled at the kitten. "Okay girl, here you go." she bent down and pushed the cat on a board back toward Zeph.

~Weeee~ Rin loved it. Bianca pushed the board harder than Zeph, sho she glided by faster than last time. When she was finally stopped by the young lord, he could feel the joy emanating from his little familiar. Then he heard a cute little voice in his head begging for more.

~Faster...faster!~

"Okay Rin," he brought her further away from the family and then shoved the board. Longer distance let her speed towards Eli this time.

Everyone watched as the wide-eyed kitten stood on the board with her tail up. They could swear they could hear her squee in joy as she sped towards them.
