When Shi Yao was finally through with those three songs, she suddenly realized that the suite was deathly silent. Everyone was staring at her, dumbfounded.
Confused by the situation, she blinked her eyes.
Was there something wrong with the way she sang?
That shouldn't be it. She knew quite a few songs, but these three were the ones she was the most familiar with. There shouldn't have been any problems.
Shi Yao blinked her eyes once more, but the entire room of people was still staring at her with an indescribably bizarre look on their faces. She wasn't even nervous when she sang earlier on, but at this very moment, she felt utterly lost, not knowing what she should do.
She did know a few of Lin Jiage's friends, but she wasn't sure whether they recognized her or not. As such, this entire suite of people were practically strangers to her. In contrast, the not too close Lin Jiage became the most familiar person to her instead... Distressed by the current situation, Shi Yao instinctively turned her gaze to him.
Several lights had been switched off at some point in time, so the lighting in the suite was rather dim. On top of that, Lin Jiage happened to be sitting in the corner so other than his white shirt, Shi Yao couldn't see his expression at all.
But even if they were in a brilliantly lit room, there was no guarantee that Lin Jiage would be willing to stand up for her. Rather than relying on him, she would be better off depending on herself...
Twisting the microphone in her hand forcefully, Shi Yao was considering whether she should say something to lighten up the situation before fleeing back to her seat when Liang Jiusi suddenly spoke up, "Shi Yao, is there another song that you know of other than those three?"
Shi Yao thought that Liang Jiusi was just having a casual chat with her, so she replied without thinking too much into it, "I do.
Liang Jiusi didn't respond after that.
He was slightly closer to Shi Yao, so she could clearly see his face collapsing.
This reaction... did he not understand what she said?
Thus, Shi Yao began to give a more detailed explanation, "It's—Just one more tiny bite, make all the meat disappear—that song, 'One More Tiny Bite'!"
"Pft—" From the darkness of the room, a vague chuckle sounded.
It was fleeting laughter, disappearing within just a second.
Yet, the peculiar atmosphere drifting the room seemed to have grown heavier.
Didn't she sing three songs already? Her response to Liang Jiusi's question was perfectly normal too, so why was everyone giving her such weird looks? It was as if they were looking at an alien...
Unable to comprehend the situation before her, Shi Yao felt very uncomfortable under their gazes. Eventually, she couldn't tolerate it anymore, so she decided to use a generic excuse to take her leave, "Well, I need to go to the restroom for a bit…"
After saying those words, she put down the microphone and fled from the suite without any hesitation.
As soon the door automatically closed shut behind her, deafening peals of laughter burst from the previously silent room.
"Hahaha, Brother Jia. Your little fiancée is definitely a talent!"
"What do you mean a talent? She's a true genius! To think that the three songs she chose would all be about food!"
"Thank you." In face of everyone's compliments, Lin Jiage unreservedly replied with a simple thanks. After which, he picked up the wine glass on the table and sipped on it leisurely.
"Wait a moment, Brother Jia. We're complimenting that little fiancée you brought over, not you. Why are you thanking us? But speaking of which, your little fiancée's voice sure is adorable. I want to eat meat meat, I must eat meat meat... I was almost tempted to head out to buy lots of meat for her so that she could have her fill of it…"
While sipping on his wine, a deep frown appeared on Lin Jiage's forehead.
