The First Lesson

With the Abbot personally leading the way, they took a few twists and turns before finally arriving in a large opened area.

Many monks were in neat rows holding wooden sticks and executing the same moves like synchronized dancing.

They wore grey robes with thick white socks that were bound over the similarly grey pants with black bands.

A pair of black shoes and a black sash tied to their waists finished off the look.

When the group of monks saw the Abbot, they all stopped what they were doing and raised their left hand with fingers pointing up and bowed slightly in greeting.

Similarly, the Abbot brought both of his palms together and returned the greeting.

The Abbot waved his hand and the monks all went back to their training.

Synchronized shouts and sounds of the wooden stick hitting against the air and ground echoed throughout the area.

Turning towards the two guests, the Abbot lightly introduced the training grounds to them, mainly to Jia Bi Yu.

He then led them to a quieter corner at the sides and then did a Buddhist bow before disappearing back into the many hallways of the monastery.

There were changing rooms close by and they each took one and changed into more comfortable attire.

Wu Shang Tang had had only realized when he was inside that he forgot to tell Jia Bi Yu beforehand to bring another set of clothing.

However, when he stepped out of his changing room, Jia Bi Yu was already fully changed.

Puzzled, he scratched his head.

Wu Shang Tang did not even see him bring anything inside.

In reality, Jia Bi Yu really did not bring an extra set of clothes.

After all, he never really even had the need for them as his clothing were the same magical ones he brought with him from the world of Trinix.

He has been wearing them ever since he got here.

They were able to transform into any clothing of his imagination and had the typical self cleaning function in addition to temperature control and self repair.

Don't look at how simple his clothing seemed.

They were actually mythic grade, which was better than legendary but just under celestial.

Standing in front of Jia Bi Yu, Wu Shang Tang did a traditional martial artist fist and bowed.

"Disciple Wu Shang Tang has seen Master," he said reverently.

"Alright, make your move," Jia Bi Yu stood there with his arms crossed. "Show me what you've got."

Wu Shang Tang widened his legs at shoulder width and brought both of his fists in front, one close to his chest and the other further in front.

Taking a deep breath to ease his mind, he looked at Jia Bi Yu with a serious expression on his face.

"I'm ready Master," he replied.

Jia Bi Yu put one hand behind his back and another palm out facing Wu Shang Tang.

Closing his fingers a few times, he said, "Come."

Wu Shang Tang took a few steps forward and twisted his body as he threw out the fist near his chest, switching the position of it with his other fist, as he launched it towards Jia Bi Yu's face.

Jia Bi Yu slightly shifted his head to the left just as the fist was about to land.

Wu Shang Tang quickly opened that fist, shaping it into a hand knife and swung it towards Jia Bi Yu's neck.

Jia Bi Yu leaned his upper body backward causing the chop to swing at the air in front.

Wu Shang Tang was not even able to feel the fabric of his shirt at his fingertips.

He jumped back to his original position before the attack and steadies himself.

"Again!" Jia Bi Yu said to him.

Right before he finished the word, Wu Shang Tang ran towards him throwing a punch at his solar plexus.

Jia Bi Yu moved one foot back to be in line with his other and twisted his body 90 degrees.

When he saw his attack failed, Wu Shang Tang did not retreat this time.

He did not hesitate to pull back his fist and slightly lowered his upper body to the side to do a waist high kick towards Jia Bi Yu.

Jia Bi Yu moved his other leg back, twisting his body 90 degrees the other way, back into his original direction and avoided the kick.

Wu Shang Tang gritted his teeth in frustration and took a step forward after steadying himself, trying to throw another punch upwards towards Jia Bi Yu's jaw.

Jia Bi Yu once again bent his back a little avoiding his punch.

Without stopping, Wu Shang Tang continued to throw punches and kicks at Jia Bi Yu and the latter was able to avoid each and every one of them with the slightest movements.

At the end of it, Wu Shang Tang was laying on the floor with his limbs spread wide apart as he breathed heavily in exhaustion.

Sweat drenched his whole body.

He blinked heavily a few times to shake away the sweat drops that few into his eye, blurring his vision.

Jia Bi Yu threw a white towel at the young man's face and he quickly used it to wipe away the sweat on it as he sat back up, crossing his legs.

Just as he moved on to his neck, he noticed a water bottle in front of him, being handed over by Jia Bi Yu.

Grinning foolishly, he took it from his Master's hand and thanked him.

He quickly opened the cap and threw it off to the side.

He took a few large gulps, crushing the plastic bottle as though trying to make the water come out faster.

"Phew. I'm saved," he sighed in satisfaction.

Looking up at Jia Bi Yu who wasn't even breathing a little bit heavier than usual and having not a single drop of sweat in sight, Wu Shang Tang couldn't help but smile bitterly to himself.
