The mermaid submitted total obedience to Li Yi's orders, with no sign of defiance. But the problem was, complete submissiveness meant she would not change the course of direction. So if Li Yi did not give the command to make a turn, she would continue on without hesitation, even if it meant running straight into a wall.

This sort of situation, to Li Yi, has its pros and cons. The good news was he got to ride a mermaid. The bad was, of course, the mermaid not having any self-awareness. If they were to encounter any danger, they would rely solely on his control.
