Gohan visits Kalan's dojo

Kalan brought Videl around his town as he explored the town, sometimes he found a few criminals trying to rob banks or jewelry stores. Of course they all used guns, those who had good understanding of martial arts would stay as far away as they could from Kalan Town. After all, the town was filled with martial artists, and those with strong strength were usually all from his dojo. At least they would understand just how scary the dojo members were and not dare to break any laws here in Kalan Town.

Some of the dojo members would often go around helping the police patrol and apprehend criminals, the pay wasn't bad either. But some liked to play hero for fame, Mr. Satan was one of those prime examples. He often walked around the banks and hoped for some stupid bank robbers to come, he had managed to catch bank robbers on two occasions already. Which had earned him some fame in the town, he even got on the front page in the newspaper.

Kalan knew of this even though he had never read the newspaper even once, this was because Mr. Satan bragged a lot, he liked attention very much and would smugly go around telling his tales to the passerby.

The town's citizens all recognized Kalan now because they had erected a statue of him in the town square. But the stupid criminals that often come here didn't recognize Kalan and tried to assault him on more than one occasion.

Kalan had simply smiled before the assaulter got knocked out without anyone knowing how or when. Videl used to idolize her father, but now her eyes shone brightly like stars when she looked at Kalan. Unlike Mr. Satan, Kalan didn't need to rush up and kick and punch these weak criminals, just the air pressure would knock them out.

Goku had finally come to instruct the dojo members, he was a few months late, but that didn't really matter much to Kalan. The dojo was simply for spreading basic martial arts knowledge to the people so that they would better understand Kalan's strength. It's like asking a lay man about chess, even if both sides have roughly equal amounts of chess pieces, sometimes the strategies and placings of the chess pieces will be deciding who has the advantage. But how would a lay man understand that? The same was true for martial arts, therefore just letting the people learn the basics of martial arts were enough. The rest were up to themselves, Kalan didn't really bother with them.

But certain people like Yamcha and Tien Shinhan had the advantage of directly asking Kalan for some guidance. Kalan wouldn't go out of his way to thoroughly guide them, but more simply showing the path for them to walk.

"But I don't really know if Vegeta and them are still alive... But considering Frieza's sadistic personality, he would rather enjoy torturing the weak..." Kalan's mind spun. Frieza might hold a grudge for Kalan's assassination attempt, but Frieza would most likely rather torture the remaining 'few' Saiyans, than simply kill them in his anger. It was in his personality to slowly torture his enemies to death, especially those he held a grudge against. As for those that did not enter his eyes, he would simply squish them to death like ants.

Kalan wasn't sure Raditz would come to Earth, if he did, Kalan would rather not train the people too much before Raditz came. Because, only if they felt the threat of outsiders, would they band together and even form friendships. At least that's how Piccolo changed, although Piccolo had changed quite a lot, but he still held a grudge over his father's murderer.

Kalan wouldn't want Piccolo and Goku fight to the death again, it would be even worse if it happened when Kalan was away from Earth. Therefore he decided to wait for Raditz to come before helping them all to train. But if Raditz doesn't come, then Kalan would have to think of another way for Piccolo and Goku to make up before training them.

Goku brought Chi Chi and Gohan along when he come to instruct, Kalan kindly took in Gohan as his student and kept watch over him. Chi Chi happily thanked Kalan before joining the rest of the group in their training.

Since Gohan and Kalan already knew each other, things were simpler. Gohan had a battle power of 80 already, Kalan didn't intend to make him too strong before Raditz came. Since Gohan had managed to raise his battle power to over 1,300 momentarily before injuring Raditz in the story, and that was without any training or knowledge of martial arts. Now however, Gohan was a lot stronger already and had learned martial arts, if he were to get angry, who knew if his battle power would exceed Raditz.

Even though Gohan was just 3, he had Saiyan blood and a much stronger body. Gohan could train his body to a certain extent, but Kalan simply had both Videl and Gohan temper their spirits instead.

"Meditating? We're going to temper our spirits?" Gohan asked curiously.

"Yes, your bodies are too young and underdeveloped, since you two can't train your bodies yet, it's better to train your mind." Kalan said to the two.

Videl and Gohan obediently sat down and meditated, although their proficiency was lacking and the results were bad. They were just kids, in due time, they will get better.

Meditation took a rather long time to learn, Kalan planned to simply let them meditate and temper their spirits until Raditz came.

Kalan didn't supervise them much, Videl and Gohan were free to train whenever they wanted. Because their ages were close and both had kind personalities, Videl and Gohan got along very well. With the fact that they were always together, they played together whenever they had time. But because Goku didn't come too often to the dojo, Gohan likewise couldn't come here that often. Chi Chi cared about Gohan dearly and wouldn't allow Gohan to stay over the night before he got older.

"Teacher, Gohan isn't coming today as well?" Videl missed Gohan, she didn't have many playmates her age. Goku only came and instructed a few times a month, therefore Gohan would only meet Kalan and Videl a few times each month.

"Wait a few more days until the next instructing day. Gohan lives very far away, without his father bringing him here, it's impossible for him to come here on his own." Kalan said.
