New C.E.O. [Scorpio]

I didn't do it. I couldn't. A month passed, and I said nothing. At night, I'd occasionally thought about it, but then my mind would go to rejection. No matter what I tried to do, it hung in the back of my head, taunting me.

I was scrolling through my emails. Almost entirely spam, as usual. But then I saw it; "Incoming message from: Topaz Industries". I gasped when I read the title; "New C.E.O." Jamie looked over my shoulder, "What is it?" I pointed at the email and she put her hands over her mouth. "Is there something you'd like to share with the rest of the class, Miss Topaz?"

"It-it's personal..." Mr. Strider was that teacher who tolerated no noise in his class. He'd been a pain in about everyone's ass since the beginning of the year, but he did get things done. "I see. If it's personal, then use your personal time for-"

"Do you even know what it's about?"

"No, but I can guess it's not as importa-"

"How do you know this isn't about my dad's funeral proceedings? Would you consider it 'not as important' then?"

"Well, obviously not, but-"

"Exactly. It isn't about that, but it is something as important." Jamie put her hand on my shoulder. I sat back down.

Bill sat down next to me. "That was absolutely bullshit. I mean, when someone says it's personal, it needs to remain as their business." Jamie had been going on a rant since class was over. "Yeah, but it's fine. I mean, I didn't do anything to him."

"This time," Bill cut in, "I mean, don't get me wrong, a majority of the teachers here aren't paranormally gifted in the slightest, but they still do deserve some kind of retribution." I sighed, "Yeah, but I know I'm not the only one whose complained about it to Chasan. Apparently it's rare for people of our nature to survive to the age to even be a teacher, that's the whole purpose of these schools." Naomi set down a McDonald's Happy Meal box. "H-how did you get that?"

"It's a mystery to all." Bill looked at Akumura. "She managed to convince Ms. Harley to get it." Naomi hit Akumura in the arm, "I said, it's a mystery to all." Akumura sighed, "Yeah, yeah. I don't know."

"Damn right you don't know." Naomi opened the box and started eating. Akumura sighed, "We just fed a month ago, and she already is in a mood to do it again. I mean, I get as we get older we need more blood to sustain ourselves, but this is ridiculous." Bill shrugged, "I mean, the weaker you guys are at the tournament, the better?"

"Is this about that fight we had a month ago?" I nodded, "We're definitely not ready. I mean, we've gotten better, but so have you guys." Akumura shrugged. "Well, we are at an advantage," Naomi cut into her hand with her pen, "We both have unnaturally quick healing, even for vampires. I mean, do you remember that fight with Alucard, right? If I had regular regeneration like he did, I easily would be done for."

"Not to mention we don't tire easily." Akumura didn't help. Naomi held up her hand, which looked like nothing had happened to it, "See? That would've take Alucard another minute." "Great," Jamie lowered her head, "even more of a reason for me to be worried. I chose a rifle for a reason, I can't do close range combat. No way I'm gonna be able to do this." Bill put his hand on her shoulder, "They might have that," He looked to the city, "But we've got experience." Jamie sighed, "I guess you're right."

My phone buzzed in my pocket. I checked it, 'Incoming call from: Topaz Industries'. I walked over to Mrs. Harley, "I've gotta take this." She nodded, "Understood, don't make too much noise, there are other classes going on." I stepped outside of the room and answered my phone. "What's up?"

"Is this Scorpio Topaz?" I didn't recognize the voice, I'm guessing it was the new owner of the company. "Yes, who is this?"

"My name is Helena Von Hellsing, if I am correct, you are to inherit this company when you are of age."

"Yes, what about it?"

"I've already requested from Chasan that we meet. Since it would be far too inconvenient going on the school grounds, I've requested that you are delivered to my office. Is that okay with you?"

"Sure."

"Good. I'll have a driver waiting for you at the Staff parking lot. Please, don't waste either of our time."

"Understood, I'll be there as soon as possible." I put my phone back in my pocket and walked back in the room.

"What was that about?" I jumped, "JESUS! Don't do that!" Bill waved his hand, "Fine. But seriously, what was that?"

"I've got to go to the offices after school. The new C.E.O. wants to meet with me for some reason."

Bill shook his head, "I heard that much, but do you know why?"

"Wait, how did you hear!?" Bill pointed at his head, "Combination of demonic biology and the fact you had your phone on speaker."

"Oh. Well, I'm not sure why she wants to meet. If I had to guess, I'd probably say it's just business stuff." He sighed, "Sounds boring."

"Of course it would to you." He put his hand on my shoulder, "Doesn't matter though. Just make it back alive. I have a bad feeling about her."

"It's gonna be fine. Trust me."

There was a black car waiting for me. The windows were tinted. As I expected, I didn't recognize the driver. I got in, and the car drove off. I felt in my pocket, making sure my scythe was there. I don't want to say Bill is going to be right about her, but I can never be sure. I grabbed my phone, and opened the messaging app. I scrolled through, looking for Bill's name. I hadn't had to message him, and his name was buried in business contacts. I kept scrolling, until I found it. I started typing, 'I lo-' I thought about finishing it. I shook my head and deleted what I had. 'Do you remember what Jamie told you?'

'?'

'After we fought Akumura and Naomi?'

'Oh. No, not really.'

'Oh, okay.' I looked at my hand. It was trembling. Why was I so scared?

We pulled up to a large office building, the tallest in the city. I waved at the driver, and he left. I looked up, and walked in. "Scorpio Topaz. I'm here to see Miss Hellsing." The receptionist nodded, "49th floor. You know where the office is." Where had I heard that name before? Hellsing. It repeated in my head. I got on the elevator, which at this point was entirely empty. The whole building was, except for three people. It almost felt haunted. I shuddered, and the elevator dinged.

All the lights were turned off. I walked straight forward, to the one room that was still illuminated. A moderate sized office, but the largest one in the building. I looked at the door. It said "Helena Von Hellsing" on it, but faded underneath, you could still see "Gemini Topaz". I opened it, and was greeted by a woman standing next to it. "I'm assuming you are Miss. Topaz?" I nodded. She was a giant compared to anyone else I'd known, almost as tall as Alucard. She had stringy, blonde hair. I sat down in front of her desk, "Why did you call me here on such short notice?" She sat down, "Getting right to the point I see? I like that."

"Why. Am. I. Here?"

"Alright, alright. I'll answer that with another question. Do you recognize the last name Hellsing?" I nodded. "Good, I thought you would. Do you know what the Hellsing family does?" I shook my head. "Well then, let me put it bluntly. We hunt Vampires. Over the years, I've been hunting in Eaststeel, ever since I was your age, actually. This city has in infestation. Vampires roam the streets, commonly. I'm guessing you're familiar with the Black Hoops at this point?"

"Y-yes. Why?" She had an intimidating aura to her, almost like if I were to answer something with what she didn't want me to, she'd snap me like a toothpick. "They are currently the second largest congregation of Vampires in the world. And from what I understand, you still have a chip on your shoulder from them. I don't really are about this position, or even this company, I have this because I want to take them out, and I need someone else who is competent in killing vampires, and from what I understand, you killed Alucard."

"Well. N-not entirely. I didn't really do much, it was actually mostly Bill and Naomi."

"Who?"

"Two of my friends," I couldn't mention the fact that Naomi was a vampire, "They're non-human, so they were far better equipped than I was for that situation."

"Disappointing. Well then, how about we meet sometime. How about, in two weeks." I nodded. "There is a driver waiting for you outside, I expect we'll meet again."
