Vol[2]Chapter#10 Demonstration

Tolm didn't expect such a fast answer but was glad none the less.

Slapping his desk he smiled.

"Good, good, excellent, then we'll head out right now, that way we..."

"Wait! Sir, how do we know this child can actually handle this. No offense kid but this is a Mantha we're talking about. Even if it was an average sized one, even 10 of me wouldn't be able to handle it let alone a kid."

Tolm's face flushed red with anger and he was about to rip Glen a new one but then a sudden thought occurred to him and another smile formed across his face.

"Lowen, it seems my subordinate is doubting your strength and although I believe the reports about you, it would be nice if I could personally confirm how much is truth and how much is simply rumor. Would you indulge this old man's request and politely step outside and give us a demonstration?"

Lowen was not upset in the least he understood how strange his situation appeared. For them to just blindly trust a 6-year-old would indeed be foolish. Plus although he didn't want to admit it, showing off sometimes was worth it, just to see the dumb expressions people would have once they saw what he could do.

Lowen smiled calmly and gestured slightly.

"Please show the way."

Glen looked back at his commander and Tolm gave a nod of permission and the four left with Glen leading the way.

Stepping outside, Glen led everyone to a large flat open area behind the mansion where several soldiers were in the middle of combat training. Seeing their commander arrive one of the soldiers gave a loud hurried shout.

"COMMANDER!"

With his voice spreading out, all of the soldiers dropped what they were doing and gave a solid salute and all at once they roared.

"COMMANDER!"

Tolm gave a nod before shouting back.

"As you were."

The men saluted and went right back to their training.

"Lowen, if you would be so kind."

Lowen casually walked onto an empty part of the training ground.

"So who will be my opponent."

Glen puffed out his chest.

"Me of course. If what the reports say is true then no one here but me can defeat you."

"Oh, you're quite confident that you can beat me, why is that I wonder."

At this time, the butler Paul just so happened to be leading Nia and the others over this way. Little Ben saw Lowen from a distance and excitedly started to jump and shout with glee.

"Big bro big bro, what are you doing? Can I play?"

Little Ben used his shadow steps and his body began to blur.

*Whoosh*

As the wind dragged behind his body it created a large whooshing noise causing all of the nearby soldiers to take notice. Their eyes collectively went wide with shock when they realized what the cause of it was. Little Ben ran over to Lowen to give him a hug but before he could, another whoosh of wind kicked up behind him.

*Whoosh*

*Whack*

A solid hand came punching down on top of Ben's head. In that instant, Nia had caught up to Ben and punched him on his head. Ben fell to the ground, clasping his head, he began to roll around in pain.

"Big sis, why did you hit me?"

Nia stood over her brother with hands on her hips.

"You little dummy, can't you see he's busy."

The soldiers watching these two small siblings argue couldn't believe their eyes. These two children had moved faster then any of them were capable of and even when they witnessed Nia hit Ben. When she threw that punch, none of their eyes could follow it. The same thought went through all of their minds at once.

(Monsters.)

The ghoul was the most surprised, just what did it get itself involved with.

Commander Tolm lifted a brow in curiosity while Glen didn't care at all. Yes, the 2 were fast but compared to a battlemage such as himself, they were still clearly lacking.

Listening to his sister's words, little Ben looked at Lowen questioningly.

"Big bro is it true are you really not playing?"

Lowen grinned at Glen

"Hmm, I wonder. "

Glen took offense.

"What you think this is all just a game. Let me tell you something kid, even if your strong your bound to end up dead if you don't take a fight seriously."

The soldiers overhearing this knew the two were gonna compete and their curiosity only grew. All of the soldiers began to form a large circle around the two as a low murmuring started up.

"Those two are gonna fight."

"Apparently."

"But that's just a kid ad Glens a full-blown battlemage, is this some kind of joke?"

"I don't know man just shut up I want to watch."

"Alright alright, relax. I was just interested, that's all."

Ben and Nia stepped back and waited patiently, not a spec of worry in their eyes.

"Commander, sir, what are the rules. I want to hurry up and start."

"Ok, Glen settle down a bit, you're too eager to pummel a kid."

Tolm thought for a moment but decided that simple was best.

"Let's make this a simple match. Whoever is knocked unconscious first or admits defeat loses. Lowen, do you agree?"

"Fine by me. What about you?"

Glen gave a small nod.

"Of course now lets start already."

Tolm raised his hand high up.

"Ready."

Throwing his hand back down, he loudly shouted.

"Begin!"

With no weapons at hand, Glen fiercely rushed at Lowen and threw a solid punch directly at Lowen's face.

*Whoosh*

However, the only thing Glen's punch struck was air. Lowen with a slight twist of his head had cleanly dodged Glen's punch. Glen didn't seem too surprised by this though, after all, he did read the report. If even half of what was written was true, then Lowen would be a tough opponent. The only real reason he challenged Lowen wasn't due to some actual ill will but instead because he knew that you can never just blindly believe the words of a report. Not only that, the situation with the Mantha was bad. If they just relied on one report stating Lowen's strength and then they took him to the ruins and his strength was lacking, it would only be chaos and unnecessary deaths that they would suffer. Glen didn't want another accident to befall his commander, not again. So he would test this Lowen kid and make sure the reports were true because that was his duty.

Following the missed punch, Glen's foot raised at an incredible speed, turning into a swift front kick, which also aimed for Lowen's face.

*Whoosh*

The kick as well touched nothing but air.

With Glen's foot raised, Lowen took a step forward until he was right in Glen's chest. With his foot placed behind Glen's, Lowen threw a palm at his chest causing Glen to fall backward. With one foot already in the air, Glen completely lost balance and fell directly on his ass but he didn't stay there for long. Grabbing some dirt, he threw it right in Lowen's face but how could Lowen not see that coming. The way Glen moved no matter what he did, Lowen could only see it as slow. Lowen didn't dodge the dirt but simply shut his eyes. With both his earth sense and aura sense, the two combined were equal to his regular sight if not better. So when Glen saw his opponent with shut eyes and threw another punch, Lowen could already sense it coming. As the punch approached him, Lowen grinned and threw out a punch of his own.

With the strength and toughness of these twos bodies, when their flesh collided, it no longer sounded like meat hitting meat but instead like two solid slabs of metal clashing together.

*Bang*

Hearing this audible bang, the surrounding soldiers were left with mouths agape. There surprise though soon became one of shock. After the two fists collided, Glen immediately jumped back and grasped his wrist with his other hand. As his hand trembled and throbbed in pain, he knew at least two of his fingers were now broken.

As a few drops of blood began to drip from Glen's hand, many soldiers surrounding them let out gasps. Even Commander Tolm's expression grew fiercer, he knew just how tough Glen's body was as he had seen Glen train. Nearly every day he had witnessed Glen destroy boulders with a single punch but today he actually broke some fingers fighting a kid.

Lowen slowly walked forward, raising his hand, he motioned for Glen to make the next move.

"Come, that can't be all...right?"

With Lowen raising his hand, It was only now that everyone noticed its condition or rather its lack of a condition at all. There was nothing, no broken bones, no blood, no bruises or marks of any kind. Lowen had clashed head to head with Glen and came out completely unscathed.

The crowd began to grow animated and the tension became taught like a rope being pulled between two horses. Lowen stared at Glen and Glen stared straight back before lowering his gaze to his hand once more. After a moment of silence between the two, Lowen decided it was time to end things.

"Fine, if you won't come, then I will."

Lowen's body blurred and he disappeared for a moment before reappearing right in front of Glen, throwing a punch at Glen, Glen quickly shouted.

"IVE LOST!"

Lowen's fist stopped right in front of Glen's nose and a gush of wind followed behind it.

*WHOOOOOOOOSH*

Glen had to use the muscles in his neck to keep his head from flying back, causing him to feel a slight strain on his neck from the wind pressure alone.

Lowen stepped back and gave a small smile.

"Good, I guess this means we can finish our deal, right commander Tolm."

Commander Tolm was tongue-tied for a moment before he snapped back to reality. Almost stuttering his words he spoke in a rushed tone.

"Oooo of course, hehe."

A loud shout broke out from the crowd and a small frame jumped on to Lowen hugging him tightly.

"WAH BIG BRO'S THE BEST. NO ONE CAN BEAT YOU!"

Nia as well rushed over and hugged Lowen excitedly followed by Luna. Even the soldiers started getting excited inching closer and closer to Lowen.

"Whoa, this kid's amazing!"

"Who the hell raised such a monster?"

"Damn, if only I had strength like that."

Everyone was cheering and excited, well everyone except for Glen that is. Watching all the soldiers crowd around Lowen and bombard him with questions as well as praise. Glen could only stand there and tremble. As cold sweat began to pour from his face, he wondered if at that moment he hadn't admitted defeat, would he be dead right now.

(Would the kid have killed me? Would he have held back at the last minute?)

Glen suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. Looking back, he saw Benjamin grinning at him.

"Kids a monster, ain't he?"

Without waiting for a reply Benjamin joined his kids, even he was happy. Not because Lowen had won but because he had won so easily. Benjamin thought about when he lost to Lowen and wondered if his skills had grown rusty while being locked away. It was hard for him to admit when he had lost but seeing Glen lose so admittedly, he knew it wasn't because his skills were lacking but because Lowen was just too strong. Benjamin couldn't help but wonder just how much of a monster Lowen would become when he grew up. For some reason, this brought him some excitement as well as some anticipation.

Tolm looked at Glen and cleared his throat.

*Ahem*

Glen knew exactly what that meant and gave a loud shout.

"MEN, ATTENTION!"

The soldiers on reflex turned and saluted.

Tolm looked at his well-trained soldiers and gave a small nod.

"Men I have business with the boy, so back to it."

The soldiers finished their salute and quickly dispersed and started their training once more.

"Paul, finish showing them the house. Lowen if you will."

Again the group split and went their separate ways. It was time to complete the deal. Lowen's eyes grew greedily.

(How much can I get this time I wonder?)
