Unfortunate Junha

Two people were running up the stairs as their breath were ragged but they didn't dare stop on their track. Their whole bodies were soaked in sweat, yet those beads of sweat didn't cause by the physical torture that they are going through but…

"Aran! What the hell are those things?" the woman adorned in a two-piece office work clothes shouted at the man that was running behind her.

"Huff huff… how about we continue this conversation later." Aran had no desire to answer such question when his lungs were desperately in need of oxygen. To be frank, he wasn't the early morning jogger type.

The duo finally reached Stephanie's office floor. The door was slammed wide open, catching the attention the rest of their colleagues who were busied with their own work.

Curious eyes were staring at the duo who just barged into their workspace with a bang. Stephanie who was usually a bubbly energetic woman was nowhere in sight as what plastered on her face was anxiousness.

She dragged Aran by the hand as she hurriedly hid underneath her desk ignoring the stares directed at them. Hugging her knees while trying to get herself together a man was sitting beside her underneath the cramped space of her desk while looking absent-minded.

"Hey Stephanie, what are you doing down there? And who is this guy?"

One of her coworkers approached her as she was worried about her sudden drastic change.

Her coworker could hear a faint whisper of Stephanie's voice as she lean at her as she tried to listen.

"Dead…Dead…They are all dead…We all are going to die…"

The co-worker couldn't understand what she meant. It sounds rather ridiculous in her ears.

"If I were you, I will go call my family and make sure they are safe." Aran remark came out of the blues catching the coworker off guard. The coworker stared at him with ridicule in her eyes like who the hell is this guy spouting nonsense all of the sudden.

The coworker didn't bother with the two as she returned to her workplace. Being on the twentieth floor does have its perks, for one thing, they didn't even realize the chaos that was wrecking down the streets.

Then the sound of the entrance door slammed wide open resounded once again as the eyes of the curious workers glanced back at the entrance. A few thoughts surfaced in their mind, what's wrong with people today, can't they be more gentler.

"Run! Monsters! Monsters! Monsters on the streets!"

A panic-stricken man came shouting like a madman. They were silent for a few seconds before the whole office erupted with laughter and ridicule to this office-mate of theirs.

"Oi Junha! You drunk already? It's still in the afternoon for crying out loud."

"Get a grip Junha, haha"

The man called Junha was dubbed crazy and drunk by his own colleagues, his head glanced from one side to another as he was flustered and anxious, he was telling the truth yet nobody believes him.

"Plea…"

Before he could plea to the crowd, his words were cut short as blood seeped out from his mouth as he stared down in disbelief after what he saw.

"Ah!!!" the scream of one of the laughing office lady broke the good mood of the office as she stumbled on her feet while pointing out at Junha.

The rest was weird out by that mere fact but as their eyes laid upon the direction of the finger pointed by the screaming lady. All of them were aghast.

Jumble of emotions mixing up inside each and every one of them. Surprise, confusion, disbelief, anxiousness but one emotion stood tall like a flagpole overpowering everything else, the deep sense of fear!

"Run!!!"

The whole office went ballistic as the situation turned chaotic in just mere seconds. Just a while ago they were laughing at Junha who they thought was crazy but upon seeing Junha being eaten alive right in front of their very eyes shook their hearts to the core.

Half of his body was inside the mouth of a grotesque creature. Rows of molar teeth lined up within its jaw as the crushing sound of bone resound especially loud within this airspace of the office. Tons of blood dripped to the floor as it gushes from the mouth of the creature.

The creature spat out what left of the corpse of Junha, as the screams of the humans in front of it attracted its attention. The creature growled as it chased its preys that were frantically running.

At the far end corner of the office, Stephanie and Aran were sitting quietly minding their own business as screams of anguish and fear enveloped the whole office.

Stephanie closed her ears as she tried to block off those screams and cries for help.

Meanwhile, the man beside Stephanie was deep in thought.

'Slimy body like a fish yet huge body akin to a rhinoceros. A mutated fish walking on two legs. Not something I expect to see even in a creature feature film. Bad design is one thing but with those ugly numerous eyes on of top of its head, it mutated pretty badly. Hmm, what else am I missing?'

Aran took a peek as he saw the devastating bloody scene as the two-legged creature stood on top of a pool of blood as it jaws was ripping apart the bodies of an office worker.

'Fuh. That two-legged fish really have a hideous jaw, what kind of monster mutated with rows of molar teeth? Not a single sharp canine tooth? That fish's genes is really messed up.'

He stared at the scene of the two-legged fish devouring those humans without feeling squeamish. But then, the two-legged fish bobbed its head to sides before one of its numerous eyes saw something.

GROWL!!!

'Just great, one of its eyes just saw me.'
