The olive skin office worker swiftly retreated back into the cramped space underneath Stephanie's desk. He was calm and collected yet the creature that just saw him was approaching towards him as the office floor shook by the weight of its body.
'Ah, this is bad. If Stephanie knew I brought that fish towards here, she will probably nag at me like an old grandma. Sigh, let's settle it then.'
Aran stood up straight as if he didn't care being spotted by the mutated fish. He dusted off his pants as he prepared to do the most craziest thing that none of the people dare to do.
Stephanie who was traumatized throughout the whole time noticed this friend of hers suddenly standing up. A tint sense of fear of being alone began to creep inside her heart.
Her hand quickly grabbed on to Aran's pants as she tugged it tightly with no intention of letting him go.
"Oi, let go Steph."
Aran felt the light tug on his pants. Yet Stephanie shook her head vigorously as she misunderstood the intention of Aran. She thought he was going to leave her.
GROWL!!!
The mutated fish came closer to them as it rammed directly at the desks and office furniture that obstructed its path.
"Aran, what's that? It's not the monster right, tell me its not monster."
She was tearing up while being in denial. The loud noise of the office desks being pushes around with the deep growl of the mutated fish frightened her. As if her nightmares are coming right at her.
At this point onwards, Stephanie already hugging one of Aran's leg tightly with her eyes tightly closed. Her fate seems to be already sealed judging by how she had accepted her incoming doom.
Aran who had a plan on his own couldn't help but sigh. If he forced himself from the grasp of Stephanie, rather than being seen as rude he just didn't like the thought of exerting unneeded energy.
'Fine, let's just settle it from here then.'
In a nonchalant manner, he raised up both of his hand directed at the incoming mutated fish.
Suddenly...
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!
Loud gunshots rang in the air as the deafening sound reached into the eardrums of Stephanie. She never thought she would hear the sound of gunshots in the city of Seoul.
GROWL!!!
The mutated fish cried out in pain yet it didn't stop as it turned more aggressive heading towards the one who shot it.
Those mere small bullet holes weren't enough to impede the incoming mutated fish.
Stephanie opened her eyes and tilted her head upwards as she saw the owner of the leg that she was currently hugging tightly, her eyes traced to his arms that were held up straight in the air with something in both of his hands.
The chrome luster of the slide and barrel of the gun was like an attention seeker to the eyes of the crowd. Each time she saw him pulled the trigger, bullet shells kept raining down on the office floor.
A million questions popped inside of her head as the number one question was none other than how on earth he could get his hands on a gun in the land of Goryeo. Unlike the Great States of Murica, where one could easily buy a gun, Goryeo is a strict country with a law that dictates that no civilian could own a firearm.
Yet her question was left unanswered and forgotten as the growl of the mutated fish brought her mind to the current situation that they were in.
She glanced at the source of the ruckus and saw for herself the mutated fish with bullet holes riddled on its body with crimson blood oozing out from those holes.
But even with those bullet holes, it was still standing upright on its odd-looking two legs.
"Shit, I guess even a fifty caliber Desert Eagle couldn't take this fish down."
Aran had a tough time believing it even with his calm appearance. He shot the mutated fish numerous time with his fifty caliber desert eagle which is known to have the biggest bullet for a handgun yet that damn slimy bastard won't go down.
"Steph, stand up," he spoke to Stephanie while his finger kept pulling the trigger non-stop.
"Eh? Why? Just kill it with your gun!" she was flustered after Aran instructed her as such.
"Haha, the problem is I can't." he laughed it off while normally other people would freak out the moment they realize their weapon didn't work.
"What?!" Stephanie was on the verge of a breakdown after hearing the words of Aran as well as how nonchalant he reacted to his gun uselessness.
Aran forcefully removed her away from her leg after noticing that her grasp was loose. She shook noticing the action of Aran.
The man with the gun ran towards the entrance of the office heading toward the elevator.
"Aran!"
He glanced back and saw Stephanie was still kneeling on the floor not moving, with tears and mucus dripping on her face. She really looks pitiful at the moment, the usual beauty that she had was lost as her makeup ruined by the tears and mucus.
Her legs froze as she couldn't move. She was too afraid of even moving like her whole body was going through a meltdown.
Aran noticed right away but his expression didn't change the slightest. He ran to the opposite side of the office while still gunning down the mutated fish as it was easily attracted to the moving prey who had the guts to injure it.
"Go to the elevator and wait for me there, I will distract the fish while you run." his voice reached the kneeling Stephanie even without shouting.
GROWL!!!
The mutated fish changed direction chasing down the man with the gun.
Stephanie saw the chance she was given and didn't waste it. She tried numerous times to stand up but fail to do so, her legs were really dead yet the thought of dying frightened her as she pinched her leg strongly as the pain woke her lower limbs up.
She dashed right towards the glass door but instantly slipped the moment she rushed at the door. She felt the floor was slimy and gooey and the moment she saw what it was, she screamed out loud as blood were all over her clothes and hands.
Junha's corpse laid not far from where she was and seeing a dead body up that close, her scream become louder.
"KYA!!!"
The mutated fish was distracted by the scream of a woman. The bullets that rained down on it were ignored as the mutated fish rushed towards the screaming Stephanie.
GROWL!!!
At that moment, Aran stopped shooting at it as he knew it was meaningless at this point. He slowly walked over to the other end of the office, without even looking back at the mutated fish.
"Aran! Help!"
He glanced back for a second and seeing Stephanie was already within the jaws of the mutated fish waving her hands at him in a helpless manner, her eyes were begging him to come and help her.
But Aran only let out a gentle smile as he waved his hand at her telling her that this was goodbye. A realist at heart.
He walked and didn't look back.
