"Before I get into the specifics, let me first tell you how the academy's testing hall works."
After saying that, Magnus took out a small silver plate that looked like a large coin. He placed it on the desk in front of Jay and activated it.
The small silver plate suddenly glowed with a blue light and the entire room was suddenly filled with projections of information about the academy. May it be the ceilings, the walls, or even the furniture in the room, projections can be seen.
Jay thought, "Projection formation? Oh wait, I think it is called as 'Archive Formation'." after seeing it. The reason why he called it projection formation was because it was what most of the players called it.
Magnus thought it was Jay's first time to see it, oblivious to the fact that Jay already seen it multiple times in the past. So he said, "My boy, this here is an Archive Formation. It allows me to store information. Now, go ahead and take a look at this."
Magnus tweaked the formation a bit that caused all of the projected information to disappear except the one about the testing hall. After that, he continued his talk.
"The academy's testing hall is formerly known as the Soul Archive. But no matter what we call it, it has the same purpose. The purpose is to check an individual's soul power. Do you know where I am going with this boy?"
Jay nodded his head since he knew that it was probably related to the Chicken Lord's soul within him. Seeing him nod, Magnus began talking about how soul power is being measured.
"First of all, an individual's soul power affects his or her future endeavors. A normal person only has a soul power of 10 or below. Someone who knows how to utilize magicka has a soul power ranging form 11 to 40. As for geniuses or prodigies who managed to surpass the rest, they usually have a soul power ranging from 41 to 80. Those who surpassed a soul power rating of 80 are what we call 'Children of Fate', people who are blessed by the gods."
Jay already knew all of this stuff but he pretended not to. So he asked Magnus a question.
"Elder, how does one's soul power get rated? What do all those numbers mean?"
Magnus answered Jay.
"It is the number of 'Fate Particles' your soul has. A Fate Particle is the foundation of everything in this world. May it be the people, monsters, magicka, and everything else, it is made up of Fate Particles. And how does it affect an individual's soul? The more Fate particles there are in a soul, the stronger it is. It also allows you to understand Fate, the power that makes our world what it is right now."
Jay kept nodding his head and closing his eyes to pretend he is having some kind of enlightenment with all the information Magnus is giving him. He then thought to himself, "Fate particles huh? If I remember correctly, a Fate Particle is equivalent to one level. But after the changes, the number of Fate particles became random depending on one's understanding of skills, spells, or Fate. I wonder how much Fate particles I have due to the Chicken Lord's soul within me?"
Seeing Jay contemplating his thoughts, Magnus did not want to disturb him and sat down. After a few minutes, Jay opened his eyes and asked Magnus if he knew the result of his soul power since the testing hall was destroyed.
"The orb of testing within the testing hall can only record up to 150. Your soul power exceeded that number by a large amount causing the testing hall to be destroyed. As for the exact number, I do not know."
Jay frowned a bit when he heard Magnus did not know, so he asked if he can leave so he can proceed with other things since the tournament is only 3 days away and it was already late in the afternoon.
"I suppose you can leave now. But before that, you should take this." Magnus said as he handed over a gold crystal.
"Alessandra should have already told you that we use academy points for transactions. She might have forgot to tell you this, but academy points can be purchased with gold coins. An academy point costs 100 gold each. As for that crystal I gave you, it is worth 100,000 Gold coins."
Jay felt like he was the richest guy in this world right now. He had 6 gold crystals with him at the moment. Not wanting to waste anymore time, he bid Magnus farewell and went back to the first floor of the academy to do some spending.
...
A few seconds after Jay left the room, the old man with a blindfold suddenly appeared in Magnus' room.
The moment Magnus saw the old man, he dropped everything he was planning to do and bowed down to the old man.
"Greetings, my lord. May I know what this visit is all about?" Magnus asked with a shaky voice.
The old man spoke up.
"That kid, his name was Jay right? Make sure to raise him well. Give him everything the academy has to offer. As for his friends, train them until they reach the 5th tier of their respective classes. I believe they call themselves 'Golden Phoenix?' But anyways, do what I ask of you. I will contact you if I need to speak with them in the future."
After saying that, the old man disappeared.
Magnus sighed and thought to himself after the old man disappeared, "Jay and his friends... how lucky they are. To actually be recognized by Lord Tygon."
After having that thought, he activated his golden moon emblem and commanded the rest of the academy elders and staff. He told them the blindfolded old man, Lord Tygon's orders.
...
--- Golden Moon Academy, First floor ---
"Hey guys, where are you right now?" Jay asked everyone through the guild emblem.
"Oh, guild master. All of us decided to split up since there were different classrooms for different Classes. As for Nuggets, I believe she went with Heda to the Beast Tamer classroom at the second floor."
Jay was about to deactivate his emblem, then he heard someone ask, "Hey boss, do you know any way to gain academy points? It is just impossible I tell you. We have to actually do errands around the city or this island to gain it. What's worse is that we can only get around 1 to 10 academy points per task. Boss, please help us! Almost everything we need requires 300 academy points. The only free thing in this academy is the lectures!"
Jay laughed when he heard that and told them to work hard not knowing about Lord Tygon's command to the elders and staff of the academy. After he deactivated his guild emblem, he decided to go meet up with Nuggets first and get a class promotion for his Beast Tamer class.
