Mr. Shankar :An incarnation of Lord Shiva

Mr Shankar as the name suggests is exactly like Lord Shiva. He is the source of Shakti, the most powerful man I ever met in my life. He is a workaholic, perfectionist and has view on everything under the sky. He was an achiever, determined and successful person in his career. He knew how things should be handled and wanted whole world to follow his way. And their begin the problems. He gets into his anger zone like Lord Rudra and sometimes does harm to himself. It reminds me the stories of beheading Lord Ganesha and opening of third eye.

He is very caring and sacrifices his own pleasures for his near and dear ones like Lord Neelkantha does ( having consumed poison to save the world from destruction). He is never bothered about his looks but values time the most. He doesn't care if you are good or bad , he will give anything if you stay loyal and highly devoted. He is easy to please and displease too... I am talking about both Lord Shankar and my dearest Mr Shankar.

My poem dedicated to him

Poem 2

HE IS JUST SPECIAL....

Sitting besides him

Talking silly or important matters

With him it's a special feeling

Being cared and loved

My day starts with hope

To be him and talk a lot

And days ends with all the

Pleasure moments spent together

He is with me all the time

Covering every corner of

My mind and heart

When he is near

There is nothing I fear

And when I can't feel his presence

I don't know what happens to me

I just can't bear the pain

He knows me, understands my feeling

He cares for me and always there for me

Because he loved me more than anyone else.

And this feeling of being cared and loved

Increased my love and respect for him day by day.

....by Adishakti Iyer

Mr Shankar is a well-known Professor of Mathematics at Loyola College, Chennai. He is the most admired and respected faculty of Maths department. Like all his students, I loved Mathematics just because he made the subject very interesting. I too wanted to join his college after XII Standard and become an Asst. Professor in his department only. But fate has something different in its mind and I landed at REC, CALICUT ( now called as NIT , KOZHIKODE). Those four years at engineering college had changed my life. I still remember how I waited at the reception lobby of college hostel for phone calls from my parents, my cousins , relatives and friends.

" Can I speck to Ms Adishakti Iyer. Mr Shankar calling from Chennai"….

My warden would shout, "Adi… call for you." She would hand over the phone to me and I could hear her saying to Asst. Warden, " This Mr Shankar, has a very authoritative voice." I used to totally ignored it and would start my chatter box. I wanted to tell him everything that happened at college but we had limited time slot. He has to keep the phone down many a times but he would end the call promising that he will call later.

Those four years at hostel includes mess food which has the same neutral taste, no matter what the dish is, queue of buckets in front of bathrooms which symbolises booking order of taking bath, pickles bottles or any other food items from home moving to every room and finish before it reaches back to you and above all the hostel-mates with whom you share everything from your toothpaste to all the problems and secrets of your life. First year of engineering you miss your home and after last year , you start missing your college life. Irony…

After completing my engineering, I was back at Chennai. I could not hold my tears when I touched the nameplate in front of the beautiful house. 'Professor Shankar'. I wanted to yell and tell whole of Chennai…. "I AM BACK"
